Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Season 3, Episode 7

"My Friend's Dad" is probably one of my least favorite songs of the whole show, so I always look at this episode with a bit of hesitation....and then I remember "The Very First Penis I Saw" (which always gets stuck in my head) and Josh's storyline. When he first squeezed the zit and Kevin said something like, "Ugh, I can't handle pimple stuff"...I had to laugh, knowing the disaster coming up.

For anyone who wants to go back and JUST rewatch Kevin's reaction to the zit pop, it key time stamp is 38:18.

I adore this series start to finish, as I hope has been clear in my comments. But I'm not an irrationally dogmatic fanboy, and there are maybe a half dozen points in the story (not huge, and not dealbreakers) that I could wish had been handled differently. And one of them is the Darryl/WhiJo breakup. Not the idea of it necessarily (I love them together, but I concede that not every romantic relationship is going to last forever) but the reason that the writers invented for it. The "one wants kids! the other doesn't!" scenario is just such a tired writers' device to break up a couple in a way that won't make either party "the bad one." (Particularly gay couples, it seems -- it was shoehorned into a later season of Happy Endings too. And I know I've seen it elsewhere.) The writing on the show is so ingenious and original in general that I found the use of this scenario to be, after due consideration, disappointing.

By the way, I REALLY like Dr. Shin and what he has to say, including "be open to getting a C+." And the musical underscoring you heard in the Rebecca-Nathaniel scenes came from "Let's Have Intercourse," back in Season 2.

This is so weird ! I'd gotten it into my head that "Jeff" was also Rebecca's father's name, so the title had a double meaning, marked a progression in Rebecca's daddy issues and we maintained a certain pattern of title names that I guess I won't get into because the pattern's not quite all there yet. But looking it up so I could dazzle everyone with this factoid that had mysteriously not been brought up or mentioned by anyone yet, turns out Rebecca's father is called Silas ???????????? oh well

You cannot be serious? Paula has been the worst to her family since the beginning of the series. She treats them like an inconvenience that she has settled for.
