"Fit, Hot Guys Have Feelings Too" is one of my favs 🤣 I don't think Nathaniel got dumped, at least not in the sense we use the word. That term connotes ending a relationship because you're done with / over the other person and are dropping them. He just got broken up with. I think it's different.

Funny that you guys guessed a firefighter stripper almost immediately. And there you go claiming that your predictions are always wrong!

"Fit hot guys have problems too" is probably one of my top 5 favs. I just love everything about it! other fav moments were Father Brah saying "Tonight you call me Daddy" - it started out kinky and ended up being threatening and I loved the confusion in Daryl's eyes :D also, at the very end, when Rebecca claims she thought it through and Paula asks "Really?" and Rebecca admits "No, not at all" - this to me shows more growth than almost anything else. Just being able to catch yourself lying to yourself is so powerful. all in all very enjoyable episode, and I loved you guys' reaction!

You called the source of "Without Love, You Can Change the World" exactly -- "Age of Aquarius," specifically as staged by Twyla Tharp for the movie with people leaping around a landscape together. And the musical models for "Fit Hot Guy Have Problems Too" are of course super clear. Like others here, I adore that song and performance. And I also love what White Josh has to say about the evolution of gay bars; right on. (It's great to be inclusive, but guests also need to remember when they're not the primary focus of a situation, just as I do when I'm the only outsider in a conversation among specialists.) One of the writers clearly knew whereof they wrote. Scott Michael Foster, who plays Nathaniel, has talked about how they got warned at the start of season 3 that they had a shirtless song coming up in episode 9, and they all immediately went into training to get ready for it -- he even more than the others (according to him) as both Joshes had bodybuilding regimens going already while that wasn't his primary thing as an actor.

These reactions have been inducing me to do multiple rewatches of the show - I'd watch the episode you were watching and then just go on to the next ones - and I realized that I really love this episode. Like, as we approached the events of a few episodes ago I'd think "I really want to see how this plays out" and then around when this episode came around I technically didn't *need* to continue bingeing, all the immediate aftermath of Rebecca's suicide attempt and diagnosis are done... Yet I systematically ended up watching this whole episode for the sheer joy of it. Maybe the thumbnail reminding me of the "Fit Hot Guys" song coming up does it. But I just love everything about Nathaniel and White Josh's dynamic in this episode, it's so fun how they're not usually paired together but it turns out they have so much in common! Maybe it's also fun seeing a rare instance of White Josh being a complete idiot. Shout-out to the "museum" exchange which feels so true to both of them - White Josh being deadpan sarcastic to a fault, and Nathaniel low-key really wanting to go to the museum. I also think it's a very strong Father Brah episode, purely on the strength of "you will call me Daddy" and HIS FACE saying "uh-uh" to Josh. I also really like Allie and Rebecca's dynamic. Her deer in headlights look when Rebecca catches her with Bev Bro is something I went back and re-watched a few times. In terms of Marty my personal take is that it's not OK at all. Like, "I'll take what I can get" may be an acceptable attitude but this situation wasn't consensual; Allie didn't know that Marty felt this way and I think Rebecca's instincts were right that Allie fundamentally disrespected Marty in a way that just isn't OK in a relationship. Even if Marty told himself he was OK with it, it surely isn't compatible with any kind of self-worth to live like that. The way I see it it's a bit like Rebecca found someone getting hurt with a razor and taking the razor away saying "I saved you" and they replied "Hey I'm self-harming on purpose here". Was Rebecca's interference a mistake and not what the person needed then? Probably. But accepting that doesn't require believing that the person is fine. I think it's pretty interesting though to compare with the previous episode - in that one Rebecca went all Rebecca on a scheme where she was completely wrong. In this one she makes huge efforts to not go all Rebecca, and when she does it's because she has every reason to think that she's right... And she is! But it still ends up blowing up in her face! It feels like quite the lessons she's learning here.

I was thinking about the Marty/Ally situation after Kevin & Joe were talking about it, likening it to being "into cuckolding." I don't see it as that; Marty doesn't like it, but he says he can live with it -- "I'll take what I can get." We bystanders can be convinced it's not good, but it's still not anyone else's place to stop it. Marty and Ally have both convinced themselves they're getting something they want from the marriage, and they're the ones who'll eventually have to do something about it -- if, indeed, they ever do. The whole series is showing us how correcting one's choices in life has to come from within.

Also the girl accompanying Beverages at the engagement party isn't an escort - she's the same (remarkably incompetent) actress that Nathaniel hired to make Rebecca jealous way back when!

I never noticed that before! Thank you!! I love that I can still discover new things about this lovely series, thanks to attentive fellow watchers. One thing I noticed only on this go-round with the series is Rebecca's pattern of, every time she starts getting excited about a relationship with a guy, she tells him they should go to Raging Waters waterpark together. (She's recently done it with Nathaniel.) It's some longtime dream for her, and it runs intermittently through the whole series, starting way back.

When you both loved “I Go To The Zoo” it took everything for me to not tell you about “Fit, Hot Guys…” I love it so much- the pairing of WJ and Nathaniel seems so obvious in retrospect!
