I remember back when this aired, we all, just as you were, were completely dumbfounded, left in shock and at a loss for words... We all heard the title "Connor's Wedding" and were expecting the goofy antics that Connor had described, nothing at all could have prepared us for the hour of television ahead. I agree, the way that grief was portrayed here is something I have rarely seen so accurately portrayed in television, and this episode will definitely go down in television history. Not to mention, the performances here are just absolutely incredible, Sarah Snook's deliveries are especially gut-wrenching and devastating, I still teared up watching it even now!

Also, there's a lot of really cool stuff about this episode in terms of direction, Mark Mylod did an incredible job crafting this episode, being the camera that is capturing this immensely raw and vulnerable story--there's a one-take in here that's upwards of 20 minutes, and considering this is shot on film, that is no easy task! I'll quit rambling, but man, this episode still hits so hard

Long comment warning: "Does Tom care about his job or does he care about his wife." I think it's a mix too like so much of the show in general. It's personal and business so things get incredibly murky. I think there's a lot of love there from everyone here including the board, you don't put up with someone for 20, 30, 40 years and not develop some sort of bond (even if it's traumatic lol) so I think that's what makes this show so good. Even when people do snakey actions they try to convince themselves it's for the best and seeing people rationalize their actions is interesting. I also like how we didn't see it happening and so many people thought it was fake. I was worried you guys would be spoiled because so many newspapers did "articles" on media mogul Logan Roy dying. I believe New York Magazine was one and it was pretty cool to see old pics of Brian Cox as Logan lol. I think the leak came from Greg on Tom's behalf. Tom wanted it known that he was with Logan as he said on the phone. The board will not look out for Tom and his relationship with the siblings is on the rocks so I think it was a situation of Greg making some sort of play. Tom didn't directly ask him to do that though. Then again it could be someone on the plane reaching out to Gerri to get her to leak it because they knew the kids would get involved but were taking their time because they weren't thinking clearly so leaking it kind of forces their hand. Finally, I like how this showed each child's relationship with Logan which was an interesting touch. I forgot who said this about Kendall in season one but he equally worships his father and hates his guts. Kendall put on a strong face and was being "analytical" but as we saw in the end he is going to have a hard time. I definitely think the second half of the season is better than the first because it has so many heavy episodes ahead but this episode was peak television.

Hey there. I'm still catching up on uncuts of this and The West Wing (2 of my 4 favourite shows!), but had to watch this one. So glad you weren't spoiled. I'm in the UK and couldn't get through breakfast and sit down to watch before it was spoiled for me, but it's still an impactful ep and one of the best I've seen in years. With regards to if Brian filmed for this one, he was asked to come in and lie down on the floor for a couple of mins to get the head shot. The rest was a body double and they blended them together with visual effects. Also, once they'd filmed it all, they ran the whole boat sequence as 1 take of 28 minutes, swapping out roles of camera film. that must have been incredible to be a part of! I'd recommend the HBO behind the episode of this one and this 10 min video with the director is a great watch. https://youtu.be/2XAxyeKDXsg

Such a fantastic episode of TV, I remember reading that they shot a lot of it in one long take like a play. The acting/direction/camera operation/writing are just fantastic, this episode and 4x09 are real standouts for me. I also wouldn't worry about not having a tonne chatting in reaction to this ep, most reactions I've seen were just stunned into silence too. I'm working my way through your succession reactions, I'm a loong way back, but had to watch this one!

Brian Harris

There are two episodes this season that I think are among the best-acted in television history. This is the first. Buckle your seatbelts, guys, it’s going to get bumpy.

Gayle Dick

Glad it wasn't spoiled for you, incredible episode and acting. Like some others have commented, I also am still working through older uncut reactions but had to watch this one immediately.

Every episode from here forward does not miss. This episode is so good and yet I find the rest of the season to be even better.

Javier Suarez

Every so often it happens where the stars align and you get episode like this. Truly a masterclass in television writing and acting. Looking forward to y’all’s reactions for the rest of the season!

I started this show when season 2 came out and was hooked. Upon rewatching a few times I have really come to love and admire Logan. Controversial take but I think Logan might be the most human character. Obviously, all the characters are pretty grey, but Logan is the most powerful. He is the worst of the worst and the best of the best, depending on the angle you look at him from. You can say he was a terrible father, and I would agree thats justified on an emotional level, but what he built and left for his kids is admirable. His Legacy, what he has left behind, his company and his kids, is admirable. and I dont think any other kind of person could build what Logan did. The entire package that is Logan is necessary to achieve what he did. I know why people dont like him but I love him.

This is so interesting and shows we all have complex/differing feelings about characters. I feel the opposite almost - like the overarching vibe of the show is very anti late stage capitalism and is trying to show the inherent emptiness of this kind of wealth creation, the toxicity embedded in gaining this much power and how corrupt you have to be get there. A lot of people said it online but if Logan had gone to Connor's wedding he a) might have received quicker medical care or b) at the very least died surrounded by his children/loved ones. It's because of the man he was and what he valued that he carved so much love out of his life. I just struggle to think of him as anything but that ... although it really is testament to the quality of writing that we get to feel this intensely about characters in a show!

I unfortunately was spoiled and yet this episode still hit me like a truck. It just comes down to excellent writing and truly a masterclass in acting. Particularly Sarah Snook just wrecks me every single time I rewatch!!

I can't believe his death brought so much emotion from me. This will go down as one of the best episodes in TV history. An absolute masterpiece.

Man was this fantastic or what? Completely shocking. Heartbreaking. Also I don't know what the show looks like without L to the OG.

Martin Nicholls

IDK how I managed not to be spoiled on this episode. Great episode - but it was pretty shocking; it's almost as if Brian Cox had been convicted for doing something very very bad and they had to write him out - which is actually a pretty neat trick.
