The judge in this episode was played by Joe Grifasi, who has been in tons of shows and movies over the past forty years, but I don't think he's the same actor you were thinking of. David Paymer played Harry Drake (who Susie met with), and he was in "Get Shorty" as well as hundreds of TV shows. When I first watched this, I thought Midge was funny, but not quite as funny as the audiences seemed to think. But then I put it in the context of the time period and realized that much of the audience reaction was the shock value of seeing a woman say those things on stage, just as much of Lenny Bruce's success was the boundary-pushing aspects of his humor. I'm really enjoying watching you both trying to predict where the story and these characters are heading, because it's so unpredictable. Not to say your predictions are all wrong, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised throughout the entire series.

Laura Room

The lawyer was played by Max Casella who I know originally as Doogie Howser's best friend from the show starring Neil Patrick Harris. He is also known for The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire. Fun fact, my step sister named her childhood cat Vinnie after Max's Doogie Howser character, Vinnie Delpino. Vinnie was a good cat. 😼
