about something or someone taking you out of the period: when jimmy fallon shows up in band of brothers. that entire series is a feat, everyone else is great, i believe all of them - even ross f'n gellar blends in after the initial double take (credit to david schwimmer), but jimmy fallon is so very himself and so very late 90s/early aughts when he rolls up. i can't. for more recent shows or movies, i've adopted my friend's way of describing actors who don't belong in the period depicted - "that's a face that has seen an iphone."

No... it's Katharine Hepburn. Audrey Hepburn was Breakfast at Tiffaney's and was English. Well... European.

This is my second time watching this series, and I'm catching so much more watching it with you guys this time. It's also more moving and effective, knowing where the story leads. And I love hearing your predictions, because the writing is nearly impossible to predict. Even in this one episode, no one could have guessed that we would see: Miriam teaming up with a unknown man to perform at fancy parties; a touching scene between Miriam and her brother; the brother's wife being obsessed with babies and with converting; Abe being subjected to a government background check; Susie dropping a whole lobster on her plate, and later confronting an agent at William Morris; the family seeing Joel at a nice restaurant; Miriam and Susie having it out, then making up; and Miriam's very first set being recorded and produced. That's more than most shows put into an entire season. A mezuzah is a parchment with Biblical verses from the Torah. Usually it's placed in a decorative case and affixed to doorposts in the home. It began as a reminder of God's commandments, and later became a device to protect the home from evil forces. Katharine Hepburn was one of many actors and upper-class Americans who spoke with the "Mid-Atlantic" or "Trans-Atlantic" accent. This was a totally made-up accent that blended American and English pronunciations in order to sound more "upper crust" and "well-bred." It was taught in private prep schools, as well as schools for film and theater actors. Besides Hepburn, you can hear it in old movies from Bette Davis, Vincent Price, and Cary Grant, and from James Earl Jones as Darth Vader, and even from Frasier and Niles in the tv show "Frasier". Sorry! I guess I'm in an educational mood today. :)

The actress who plays Astrid (the blonde) went to my same high school (years before i went there though).

It has been way too long since I've seen BOB. I forgot he was in that! Good call though, I can't stand him on The Tonight Show.

I love that you included Frasier in there. My grandparents loved that show. When I was a kid, I used to ask why they talked like that lol

I don't think you guys got a good sense from this episode how big a deal Bell Labs actually was, the Big Bang theory was confirmed there. Bell Labs discovered the definitive proof of how the entire universe formed.
