Episode 12, Black Tie is comedy gold!! I can’t wait to see your reaction!

I’m so glad 30 Rock is backkkkk!! Idk if anyone said this already, tina fey wrote Jenna for rachel dratch to play, but they felt her character was too similar to liz lemon — so I think that’s why the “compromise” was that she’d come back as several characters

Take this for what it's meant to be and truly not offensive. I've done comedy for years and the most shocking thing is to find comics who are both attractive AND more importantly funny. I have talked to many attractive really funny female comics and wind up at some point asking them, "So what bad thing happened to you when you were young?" I swear there is not a single one who doesn't have an answer to that - male or female. Baldwin reminds me of that. Comedy comes from viewing the world differently than other people, that's where the jokes come from - you see it as this, I see the same situation as this, tilted on it's axis. Baldwin definitely has that - and even will half mock how gorgeous he was in this show at some point down the line.

The Edge is great....Baldwin also is great in Sliver (written by Sorkin - who in my rankings is only SLIGHTLY ahead of Mamet...though I love Mamet as well).

Also the idea of some of the stage hands being themselves....I think four or so of the writers acting on the show are actually the writers - especially Lutz.

Makes no sense why YouTube would ban it when this was on network television in prime time on NBC!!

Also love how you guys don't talk as much with comedies - talking over punch lines is so annoying in reactions. So you rock it again!

Tina Fey gave Rachel Dratch the role of Jenna, but apparently the network wanted a change so she was given roles in the first few episodes.

Oh god, Jon Hamm on this show is EPIC!!! No spoilers, but honestly it shows his acting/comedic ability more than anything I've ever seen.

I think you're thinking of Malice, which was written by Sorkin. Sliver is Billy Baldwin and Sharon Stone, written by Joe Eszterhaus, who wrote Basic Instinct and Jade. He's the Aaron Sorkin of the erotic thriller lmao.

Wasn't convinced by the pilot, but like you said very few shows nail their pilots. (Credit to FX for giving The Americans a longer run time for their first episode). But S1E2 of 30ROCK was quite revelatory to me, great writing to show that all the characters can be both annoying / unlikable and very funny at the same time. I'm not totally sold yet, but I'm definitely sticking with 30ROCK for the time-being, loving your guys' commentary on it!
