You actually have 3 episodes left this season. While most of the seasons have 8 episodes total, seasons 2 and 5 are both a little longer, with 10 and 9 episodes respectively. This is one of my favorite episodes, and I feel like I don't see people talking about it nearly enough. Rufus Sewell is so magnetic as Declan Howell, he absolutely devours every scene he's in. That final speech in front of the painting is such an eloquent and moving verbalization of some of the key themes of the series. It's very rare that the Palladinos stray from their mile-a-minute dialogue style and just let the pauses breathe like that, which makes it all the more striking when they do. We also get great stuff with Benjamin, and Midge finally coming out to the whole family in the most chaotic fashion imaginable. It's always special when you have the whole Maisel-Weissman clan together in a scene, and to have Susie there as well makes it even better. There's something wonderfully twisted about Kevin Pollak (an accomplished standup comedian) playing a man who knows nothing about standup grilling Midge on her standup. Just an all-around fantastic episode.

The creators for the show are big theater nerds and have a great love for Broadway actors. As a huge Broadway nerd myself, I think I need to start contributing to your reactions for this show. I'll eventually recall all the great Broadway actor appearances/ musical references from Season 1 and earlier in season 2, but let's begin with this episode: "Look, She Made a Hat" is a reference to Sondheim's song "Finishing the Hat" from Sunday in the Park With George. In fact, this entire episode is a nod to that musical as it is about choices an artist must make regarding life and relationships. Notable Broadway Actors in this episode: - Rufus Sewell (Declan) - starred in Tom Stoppard's Rock 'n' Roll which garnered him a Tony nomination and an Olivier win. - Zachary Levi (Benjamin) - though he became famous from Chuck, Zachary has always been a theater geek and in 2016 he was nominated for a Tony award as a lead actor in a musical in "She Loves Me." Unfortunately, that was the same year as Hamilton which swept every award. - Will Brill (Noah) - he most recently starred in Broadway's 75th anniversary revival of Oklahoma as Ali Hakim (I got to see him a few times in this, it was an incredible production). He also is a co-founder of a Brooklyn based theater company called, Shelby Company who are "dedicated to producing daring and original works for the stage." I'll save the main cast for another day... Thanks for indulging my theater nerdiness and apologies for my incorrect punctuation with shows and song titles.... :)

I just noticed that Mrs. Moskowitz (spelling?) has some qualities of Delores Landingham....

Thanks so much for this! I look forward to your future contributions!

That Declan Howell/Midge Maisel scene was 3:31 of a one-shot....absolutely terrific acting/cinematography/etc. Heck, the Rabbi was only in the apartment for 2:18 :) Originally airing on December 5, 2018, 'Look, She Made a Hat' is Episode 7 of Season 2 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It is the 15th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.7, placing it as the #4 ranked episode of this season and #3 out of all the episodes shown so far.

Last comment, I swear. Joe, I just want you to remember this moment in this reaction when you couldn't remember her kid's names: "Ethan and Esther". It'll be a funny moment for you way later.

I liked rewatching this episode with you guys! I haven't seen it in bit and there was a lot to enjoy. The Yom Kippur dinner scene was so fun and shows how great the dialogue and direction is on this show. You really see in this ep how they start planting the seeds of the sacrifices and choices Midge has to make in her personal life if she wants to really be the best. Comedy is her love. Totally agree about Rufus Sewell too. He was great in this episode and was even nominated for Emmy for it! Funnily enough he lost to... Luke Kirby :)

It felt like something truly special. This episode was as good as anything we've watched on this channel.

The Declan/Midge scene has stuck with me. It's one of the most moving pieces of a show I've ever seen. If it was in a film everyone would be talking about it, as they should be.

New member here and enjoying these way too much! This show hits home in so many ways, esp since I am a struggling comic!
