I'm Almost Over You

This isn't my favorite episode, since I dislike dream sequences and this definitely feels like a bottle episode. I'll admit that it's grown on me because it is fun and it does totally nail every romantic comedy trope. Still seems like a filler episode though...

When I first watched this episode, at the end I thought 2 things: 1, I loved it; and 2, a lot of viewers are going to hate it because it doesn't do the usual format. (I dreaded visiting the online TV forums the next day.) BTW, there's a very explicit dissolve into dream-reality; I think you may have been busy talking about Tom Cruise at that moment. Co-creator Aline Brash McKenna confirmed online that this episode is a twin to the "SwimChan" episode from season 3: a full-length deconstruction of a movie genre. And Aline would know romcoms, because she was the screenwriter for The Devil Wears Prada. (From which the whole "find me the nonexistent next book in this series" comes -- in the movie it was Harry Potter.)

Yeah they probably needed to stretch the season out a bit. The show is ending soon so I'll take what I can get!

The scene where the dream Rebecca asks Nathaniel to move on made me tear up. I got the impression that Rebecca is/was Nathaniel's first true love, and it obviously hurts to let it go.

She's gotta be his first true love. You know, if they wanted to continue the show from his perspective and with him finding happiness, I would totally watch that! They mirror each other in so many ways.

For anyone who is a Nathanial fan I can't recommend the show "Greek" enough. He's a fantastically lovable character in that show, is a little bit of the opposite of Nathanial as he makes fun of the rich, privileged guys in that show but there's a lot of the same goofiness that I think comes from the actor. It is an early 2000s show so you have to take some things with a grain of salt but Scott is amazing in the show.

I remember when that was on! I never watched it but I can't believe he was in that! What channel was that on?
