(Sorry for the long comment.) If you’re looking for something to try after Schitt’s Creek that fills a lot of the same niches (surprisingly-deep comedy, a unique feel, and unproblematically queer), while being a wildly different story, I can’t recommend Our Flag Means Death enough. It’s also fairly short — 30 minute episodes, 8-10 per season. It’s got Taika Waititi and Rhys Darby. It’s got Leslie Jones doing a role that is both funny and dramatic which, if you’ve only seen her on SNL, is amazing to watch. It’s got Kristian Nairn, who played Hodor in Game of Thrones, actually getting to have lines and being great at them. (Have I spammed you enough about this?) They just finished S2, and it’s unsure whether they’ll get renewed. Despite it being a long term, consistent, most popularly watched show on their platform for like 6 months after S1 came out, Max still somehow decided to slash their budget and episode count a bit for S2. Lots of speculation about what went into that network shenanigans. COVID? The fact that all the streamers are just being wild these days? **HOWEVER — the S2 finale was written to act as a good series finale if needed, so the story will not suffer if Max decide to be jerks. (Just wanted to mention that so you don’t get scared about it not being a long show. I would compare it to if Fleabag had ended when it did because it wasn’t renewed.)

Well we will definitely take it into consideration. I love What We Do In The Shadows (the movie). I've heard it's similar!

I too feel a bit bittersweet heading into the final season of Schitt's Creek -- even though I've seen it all before, I'm re-experiencing through your great reactions. (There's also a behind-the-scenes special that you may want to tag on to the end, "Best Wishes, Warmest Regards." Unfortunately it seems not to be included with the series package -- last I checked, it had to be purchased on YouTube, though there may be other ways.) I think doing the Guest ensemble movies is a great idea! I'm a big fan of Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show. (A bit less so of A Mighty Wind, but no matter.)

I think the first couple of seasons of Modern Family are outstanding -- it deserved all its Emmys. It went on for a long time though, and didn't always keep up the inspiration. One rather eccentric idea for a "family" type half-hour show: what about Only Murders in the Building? It's on Hulu, and though each of its 3 seasons is in the form of a murder mystery, it's also about forming a nontraditional family among 3 very different lonely people (Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez) in the same NYC apartment building. It's also very funny, and plays with dramatic format in clever ways.

We would love to check them out. I love Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara so much. I really need to see those movies.
