Pretty wild screenwriting credit, huh? 😀 + Such an amazing episode, the Bible scene is in my Top 5 of the whole show. + I don't think Philip went to see Pastor Tim with the intent of beating him up...I'm not sure even Philip knew what he was intending to know, driven as he was essentially by rage and pain (from shame / guilt). Philip wearing the gloves when he goes to see Pastor Tim....there was clearly a decent probability that encounter would have ended in Tim's murder (and disappearance). If Pastor Tim had been skeevy / exploitative, or even just aggressive in his response, Philip would have found some (temporary) righteous outlet for his rage. Instead Pastor Tim responds with humility, compassion, and genuine religious conviction. I don't think Philip was expecting that, he'd probably never experienced that. + Note that one of the people (unintentionally) killed at the Contra training camp was a Navy SEAL, no way Larrick takes that well, he seems very committed to his career, despite all his betrayals.

I'll post an "advert" in that Reddit forum if you like, I'm sure this community watch-along will be appealing to some other fans.

1. You guys missed having West Wing in your lives this week, admit it. ;). 2. The actor who plays Pastor Tim also played Dollar Bill on the show Billions and it is the opposite of this role. It was very strange watching both shows each week when this aired live. One greedy and corrupt and the other kind and charitable.

The Pastor Tim actor (Kelly Aucoin) is also in one of my other top shows, "Turn: Washington's Spies" (overall an 8.1 on IMDB as well). Originally airing on April 23, 2014, 'Martial Eagle' is Episode 9 of Season 2 of The Americans. It is the 22nd episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.5, placing it as the #2 ranked episode of this season and #3 out of all the episodes shown so far.

Is Turn really good? I remember when it first aired. Never watched it...

I really enjoyed the first season or two of Turn, ticking both my espionage and military history boxes extremely hard! 🙂 I didn't stick with it for some reason, but easier to watch now, since there aren't year-long gaps between seasons, so I might re-visit it.
