To clarify, Harry isn't muggle born. He is pureblood like Ron. Both have magical parents. Hermione is muggle born. Both of her parents are muggles. Also Mr. Filch, the caretaker at Hogwarts, is a Squib. He's a half blood, one magical parent (like Professor Snape) but he himself cannot perform magic. That's why he has an attitude problem.

Emma Watson (Hermione) did some major films after HP, such as the live action Beauty and the Beast, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and the 2019 adaptation of Little Women. I believe she went on an acting hiatus after Little Women. She also has a degree from Brown University! Rupert Grint (Ron) has done other films which are not as big or mainstream, like Wild Target, Cherrybomb, and Knock at the Cabin. But also he had a major role in M. Night Shyamalan's super creepy TV series Servant, which I loved him in.

I had a tradition with my daughter growing up. She was born right before Christmas so instead of a party I would take her and her core group of friends to the movies every December. Harry Potter always seemed to come out then, so we watched this series. She just had a hysterectomy so that's why I've been quiet. Thank you for posting this.

Regarding your question about ‘what is the point of killing Harry’ … Even though Voldemort gets his body back, he still tries to kill Harry because the prophecy predicted that Harry is the only one who can destroy him. “Neither can live while the other survives” (see appendix 5 - Order of the Phoenix). Voldemort believes that as long as Harry is alive, his own survival / absolute power are never truly safe. Then tack on some ego and revenge — he wants to prove to the wizarding world that Harry surviving him as a baby was just a fluke, not superior magical strength. Granted, the book goes into more detail about the prophecy (shoutout Neville), but the above is the takeaway if you only watched the movies.

Odd, I really liked that movie. I'd say my favourite is the Goblet of Fire (overrated reasons). This movie really sets us in the mood that there are no more jokes and no more school. Really up the stakes, and there are a ton of actions. I may be biased towards action movies, though!

OH MY GOSH!! I HAD to watch this entire reaction in one go. I haven’t cried so much since reading Book 7 for the first time. 🥹😭 I actually got chills and cried some more at some of your predictions. Eerily intuitive on both your parts. I found myself laughing like crazy one second and sobbing the next. I just happened to be at work while reading Dobby’s death section for the first time. I was heartbroken. I needed to run into the restroom in order to sob uncontrollably for about 10 minutes. I really feel like this first part of The Deathly Hallows has some of the most poignant moments in the whole series. I know a lot of fans found it a bit dull, but I appreciated how perfectly it portrays the hopelessness they must have felt. The scene of Hermione wiping her parents’ memories before leaving with Harry and Ron just breaks my heart! ❤️‍🩹 I could go on and on, but thanks you two for being your delightful selves. I love how you make us feel like old friends just watching and discussing movies at the late night diner having a slice of pie and some fries or onion rings after leaving the theater back in the day. OG 1974 model here. I would love to hear your thoughts about some of those later 80’s/90’s arthouse movies! I, too, love them. There were two downtown theaters guaranteed to run them. What I want you guys to react to after Deathly Hallows Part 2, is the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter on HBO. think of it like a cast reunion for all the movies in Harry Potter. I'm glad they removed it. In my opinion, Petunia didn't deserve any type of sympathy or closure. She took her adolescent jealousies and used them to justify her abuse of a child. The book handled it better. She looked at him as if she was going to say something, and then didn't... she just walked away.

I remember reading his death in the book. In order for me to read it, I would read a sentence. Stop to wipe my eyes just so I could read the next sentence. Not sure how many times I had to do that. How she wrote his death was harder than seeing it on screen. She wrote it heartbreakingly.

First comment on a reaction (by a big HP nerd it must be said), honestly was kinda frustrated early on when they completely missed Hedwig's death, I really wish they'd taken more in early on, thought they were going to miss alot. The reason Voldemort wanted to kill Harry Potter was a prophecy. The prophecy stated that a child born at the end of July to parents who had three times defied the Dark Lord would have the power to vanquish him. Voldemort would mark this child as his equal, but the boy would possess a power Voldemort could never understand. In the end, one of them would have to die at the hands of the other.

Great reaction, once again! Here's some cool info (no spoilers): 1) Xenophilius Lovegood (Luna's dad) was editor of the -Quibbler-. He was a supporter of HP and often wrote against Voldemort, and that's why he says "They were angry about what I had been writing, so they took my Luna". Rita Skeeter worked for the -Daily Prophet-, another media outlet, one that rivaled the Quibbler, and in some way, supported Voldemort. 2) The woman in the beggining, that Voldemort killed over the table was a teacher in Hogwarts, who taught muggle studies. She was not Prof. Sybil Trelawney - aka the hippie. 3) The wedding: Bill Weasley married Fleur Dellacour, you met her in the Globlet of Fire, she was the girl contestant from the french school. That's why you also see the "Big Woman" (Madam Maxine) at the wedding. 4) The deluminator was used the very very first time you saw Dumbledore in the first HP movie. He took the lights from the street lights, and then Prof. McGonagal emerged from the shadows, in her cat form., when they put Baby Harry at the doorstep. Lastly, 5) Voldemort says his and Harry's wands are twins, and you guys were surprised, but in the first HP movie, when Harry shops for his wand at Olivander's, he tries a couple of wands that don't work very well, and then Mr. Olivander gives him another wand, and it chooses Harry. At that moment, Olivander says "Curious. I remember every wand I’ve ever sold, Mr. Potter. It so happens that the phoenix whose tail feather is in your wand, gave another feather — just one other. It is very curious that you should be destined for this wand when its brother gave you that scar." FYI, Fawkes, Dumbledore's pheonix, is said phoenix. ---- Can't wait for the Deathly Hallows Pt.2!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!

The mirror shard is one of the most glossed over things in these films. Given as a gift to Harry by Sirius in Order of the Phoenix IIRC. Was one of a set of 2-way mirrors, meant to allow the Order to "FaceTime". Harry never used it, and broke it in his anger of his Godfather's death, but ended up keeping a shard. In Hallows, he begins to see a man's eyes in it, who he believes to be Dumbledore.

Just joined the patreon so excuse the late comment but Splinched- Wizards get their Disapparating license when they become 17 like we get drivers license. Because if you dont teleport properly you can leave parts of your body behind. She messed up in the panic and didnt teleport Ron fully leading to the injury. Ron took the test and failed, leaving behind half an eyebrow when he did it. Patronus charm is usually formless, but if you are truly skilled you can cast a "corporeal" Patronus. They can pass on messages like when they found out the minstry had fallen or led him to the sword. They take on the form based on events in your life or animals you have an affinity towards. Events in life can cause this to change if a new memory overrides the old. The Stag in prisoner of azkaban Harry thought it was his father casting it because His father, Sirius and Petigrew would change into animals to keep Professer Lupin company during fullmoons. They also made the Mauraders map. The nicknames on the map are after the animals they turned into. Remus Lupin (Moony, Werewolf), Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail, Rat), Sirius Black (Padfoot, Dog), and James Potter (Prongs, Stag) Side note other Patronuses we know are Hermione - Otter, Ginny - Horse, and even Dolores Umbridge cat(which was keeping the Dementors at bay in the court room scene.)

I thought that the HBO series Dune Prophecy was great! I actually enjoyed it more than the movies. And they are coming out with the second season sometime this year. I would definitely recommend checking it out. It is about the early years of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood, the quasi religious sect that rule from the shadows. And it’s going to be really interesting to see what HBO does with the Harry Potter series, which premieres this coming Christmas Day. This will be an opportunity for a television series to delve into much more of the details from the books that the movies did not have the opportunity to cover.

A lot of book fans complained about the part of the book which has the camping chapters. And watching these two react they were also frustrated and asking why they weren’t doing something. But that was a large part of the point of those chapters. Harry especially was supposed to be feeling frustrated and doubting Dumblebore at that point, because he felt like he had been left with too many questions and no real direction about how to find the rest of the horcruxes, let alone destroy them. It is the dark night of the soul part of the story. So you are meant to feel frustrated.

I don’t think the movies ever emphasize the fact that Voldemort had a muggle father. So for all the pure blood nonsense that he and his followers preach, he is actually a total hypocrite in this regard. I’m really looking forward to watching your reaction to the final movie. I hope it comes out soon. And that you consider following the new Harry Potter series on HBO when it comes out at the end of this year.

Emma Watson went on to do a few great movies. But there’s some interviews where she talks about how difficult and toxic those environments were. She is truly a good person so I think she mainly stays away from acting now or is very selective. Ron did a tv show, I didn’t finish it but if was pretty corny lol. I think Dan is the only true actor out of the bunch and he is brilliant. Which is funny cause I thought he was the most blah out of the 3 but he really came into his own in half blood prince and ever since!
