LFG!!

Andrew

Oh hell yes! Loved this movie. So excited to watch. All the best to you and yours ❤️

Violet

Omg, so excited for this!!! And congratulations on the weight loss Mikey you looked great before and you look great now!

Aaron Roberts

The mad lads did it! I'm at work, but this'll be my Friday night

Perry Taliaferro

Love the old thing of rearranging the letters that spell Shutter Island and you get "truths and lies" Always thought that was cool after seeing this movie for the first time.

Perry Taliaferro

Cape Fear the movie is a thriller Cape Fear the series is garbage :D

Echo Moon

Looking forward to watching this on my day off which starts tomorrow night right after work and it'll begin with this reaction and a pizza. :)

Weston Roberts

Finally!!!! Never noticed they used the music from the movie Arrival! You want the real twist? Listen to his last line. Ask yourself…. Did he really regress? Or, did he pretend to regress so they would give him a lobotomy? That way he would die as a good man, and not the monster he is.

Castiel

I’m on Mounjaro and from a year I’ve lost 80lbs. It’s insane

SpicyRikers

Great pick guys, this movie is amazing in the way that a second watch feels even better, you see ALL the signs that you overlooked the first time and it feels just as mind-blowing ! 🤯🖖

Krispy Applejax

Great reaction! 100% crazy, 100% chose to have lobotomy by acting nuts at the end. He even says it would be better to die a good man than to live knowing he is a monster.

nezudev

A couple of things: - You ARE supposed to be confused! - I think you may have missed: when they were talking to the woman who killed her husband with an axe, she drank from a glass of water but when they showed her drinking from it she had nothing in her hand. - I think one of the signs of Teddy hallucinating or dreaming is whenever fire is present in the scene. If water is present or there is no fire then then it's real (going off of old memories so I could be wrong) Love you nerds.

Kimber Voss

No clue if he’s still writing but every script Martin ever wrote, has been by hand..

Sarah_M

This is 100% one of those movies that makes WAAAAY more sense on the rewatch.

Alissa Tucci

This might be the third or fourth time I've commented this, but, I really wish you guys would discuss the movies after you watch them. Like, for me, it's one of the best parts of any "reaction" video. Hearing the final thoughts and opinions. Analysis. Realizing what certain pieces of the puzzle meant now that it's been put together. But instead, you guys just say how crazy it was and then end the reaction. At this point, I have no idea whether you guys are still unsure if he was Teddy or Andrew, or if you now understand that he was Andrew all along. Are you still getting the idea that he killed his children just because he said, “I killed them,” during the reveal at the end? Or did you realize that he said that because he had just been talking about how his wife had let him know something was wrong, and instead of doing anything about it, he ignored it? And because of that, he considers his children’s deaths his own fault... It's difficult to interact and have discourse about the movie (like I'd love to do) if we don't know what your thoughts or theories are once you've finished it. Love you guys. <3

Kaylen

To clarify... Andrew ONLY killed his wife. He did not murder his kids. He blames himself for their death because he didn't get his wife the help she needed

Melanie D

God this is such a fantastic movie. I think it was adapted from a book, so I'm not sure what to credit to the book vs the screenplay, but either way it's an incredible use of unreliable narrator. You start out assuming everything "Teddy" is seeing/thinking is accurate, and then you're forced to accept reality when he does, when he's revealed to be Andrew. 1000% you're supposed to be confused throughout this film. I didn't even fully understand what had happened until I'd watched it at least twice. Glad you guys watched this. It's a masterpiece and so fun to experience through new eyes. I was a teen when Dicaprio was emerging as a heartthrob, and even I was kind of amazed to see what an incredible actor he would eventually become. The scene of him finding his kids in the lake is so haunting. BUT we also can't overlook Ruffalo in this film. His obvious sadness and disappointment over Andrew "regressing" in that last scene is heartbreaking.

Fattydoe

Always thought the ending wouldve been better if it was set up in a way that left you wondering if he was actually crazy or it really was a psychological mind screw and drugging. You could argue that those memories were implanted into him with the subliminal messaging of the horror stories he was exposed to there.

Sean Zaccheo

This came out 6 years before Arrival. And the song came out about 6 years before Shutter Island. It’s a great track and well used in both films.

Sean Zaccheo

So he did not kill his kids. You missed what he said because you guys were talking (not criticizing lol) he said he killed them because he didn’t get her help, so he blames himself for her killing his kids because she told him she needed help well before killing them. And at the end, he didn’t regress, he pretended to regress because he decided he wanted to be lobotomized. His line about which would be worse, to live as a monster or die as a good man, was his subtle way of telling Chuck (his doctor) that he’s decided, now that he knows what hell he’s been living in within his own mind and the harm he’s caused following his own tragic downfall and loss of his family, that he’d rather be lobotomized and “die” a good man that knows what he’s done and accepts it, and doesn’t want to allow it to happen again, rather than stay the way he is and risk truly regressing again and possibly hurting another person. That’s why Chuck stood up as he walked away and called him Teddy, because he was under the impression that he Had regressed back into the fantasy where he was Teddy, but that last line made him question it. But by then it was already too late. The decision had been made to go through with the procedure because he convinced everyone he regressed when he called his doctor Chuck, even though he didn’t regress. It was his choice, made while he was still lucid enough to make it.

TommyHawks

I’m so confused. Who was this lady?

TommyHawks

What about them on the boat? Plot hole?

Sean Michael Gordon

“Which would be worse: to live as a monster, or to die as a good man?” That line strongly suggests he may not have relapsed at all! He may remember everything and deliberately allow himself to be taken for the lobotomy because living with the knowledge that his children died, that he failed to intervene in Dolores’s crime and that he subsequently killed her is unbearable. He’d rather forget through Lobotomy.

Corey

I absolutely enjoyed the confusion all throughout this one. I actually laughed when Mikey was the first to strike gold when he said lobotomy way early. ❤️

Phylicia ✨🌸

I agree with this!! 👌🏻 a rewatch in their own free time is a must.

Tiago Ferreira

How the hell did you manage to think that he actually killed them all???

2026-09-12 19:00 Again. You keep talking over dialogue and you totally missed what is said. Disappointing.
2026-08-21 11:21

Tiago Ferreira

And you missed the point of the last line of dialogue. Andrew is aware of what he did but prefers to receive a lobotomy instead of living with knowing what he did.

Mikey Show Presents

Hey guys, please understand, if we missed something in the movie, it is really a movie that begs to be seen many times. Great movie. We really enjoyed it.

Kylynn Walton

Ben Kingsley is so magical. I truly believe if you were to rub his sweet, little bald head he’d grant you three wishes. He holds a special place in my heart. He did a sweet little movie in 2001 (Spooky House) that I loved so much as a kid. I rented the tape from Movie Gallery every Friday after school. I’ve seen this movie a few times now and my heart rate spikes every single time he gets into the lighthouse. I’m so glad you guys enjoyed it too!! 🩵

Marmiteflavoredcrocs

Wow you msp's are real strict around here in the comments 🤣 Anyways, loved this reaction guys!! Ben Kingsley is in another movie like this I think you'd guys enjoy called Stonehearst Asylum. You might not want to react to it, but its a fun watch!

Mudge Pendragon

The last conversation ""Teddy" had with his "partner" is to infer he knew what he was doing. "Would it be better to live as a Monster... or die as a good man" Meaning that perhaps Andrew wasn't so "crazy" after all And as others have said in other responses the only one Andrew killed was his wife... and a few dozen German soldiers.

Kaylen

I was wondering the same thing....

Kaylen

Stop being rude. If you don't like their reaction videos then go do something else with your time.

Kaylen

I never noticed that with the woman not holding the glass of water. I went back to check and sure enough, there is nothing in her hand as she drinks

nezudev

It’s wild once you notice it. It’s easy to miss!

MomzillaAngie

I agree with this. It would enrich it 100% guys. Just a few minutes would suffice, really.

MomzillaAngie

Oh I was praying they would see that. It's the final punch in this movie and it hits HARD!

MomzillaAngie

Oh! Good one. I didn't know that one. I love the little tidbits.

MomzillaAngie

It was part of the setup. He never noticed his "partner" until halfway through the journey to the island. Strange right?

nickyc777

Delusions are scary and once they have you real too that person, I myself believed I was dead and in a form of hell, did not trust anyone and out of fear would not talk about it until I came to not believe this. Also another time for over a year I believed my neighbours had set up tiny cameras in my home and could see me at all times, it was reinforced by the voices I was hearing as I believed this was their voices remarking on my movements. The voices were muffled like they were coming from the upstairs flat. Delusions are super scary as no matter your intelligence and how unlikely your perception makes them real, in life we only have our senses to experience things. I am so lucky to be not born 50 or so years ago, I would be in a place like this hell hole lol.

MomzillaAngie

Oh you guys! I love you two, you know. This is a movie that is so hard to understand with the first watch. This is my fourth watch of it and I still saw things I didn't catch before. It is fantastic. It's heartbreaking. It's cool AF. I knew when I saw it was coming that it was going to be rough. Of course those kids made me cry again. I am absolutely praying to the old gods and the new for a comedy pretty soon. Please do a comedy pretty soon. Thanks so much for a great reaction! Smooches!

nickyc777

You are wrong about kindness and understanding for mental patients, it helps loads and without that care they suffer alone, the drugs help loads, decency is the cherry on top that leaves them feeling a part of the world and society, we all have a place, disadvantages may not be cured with kindness but it help guide a person to the cure that is medication and CARE.

MomzillaAngie

There must be YT videos showing all the little tidbits! Heavy Spoilers or New Rockstars probably.

MomzillaAngie

I love him in everything! How about in Iron Man 3? 💜

Dawn

He says “Is it better to live as a monster or die a good man.” He didn’t answer to Teddy, because he was Andrew.

MomzillaAngie

Hugs to you sweetie. I’m so sorry you’ve had to suffer through that. 💜 Fight the good fight. You are beautiful.

nickyc777

TY :), I am "better" now, meds help, environment is better to so less prone to stress.

nickyc777

I hope one day we get passed mental health stigmatism, one persons NUT is another's son. We now have strict rules on race, gender or the sexuality of another, all of those are right and perfect. Hopefully one day those with severe mental illness will be seen as not a nut but one who has disadvantages, 99% of mentally ill people are more scared of normal people because of the stigmatism. Just like in the world of normal people there are bad ones, that's just life. Words like Crazy and Nut should be less associated with ill people and saved for psychopaths or manipulators who seek to do harm.

Duhderpicus3000

I love the reactions as they are but this would be a huge bonus

Duhderpicus3000

Im not a big Leo fan either. He's definitely not bad and definitely has had a role or two that i found to be almost great, but the hype seems like too much for me

Violet

She was revealed to be a nurse later in the movie

Violet

You're absolutely right about this being a movie you need to watch more than once because during a rewatch you'll notice things like this woman had nothing in her hand when she took a drink from the glass he brought back to her

Tristan Cox

Yes you are supposed to be confused. Basically need to pick up on the clues. He would rather be turned into a ghost or a zombie by being lobotomized so he doesn't have to live with the guilt knowing he killed his wife. To have the memories that he ever had a family. Therefore he asked Dr. Sheian "Would you rather live as a monster or die as a good man?" He was going to die as a good man essentially. Knowing that he would rather die a good man than to live as a monster knowing all the bad thing he did to his wife.

False P

Yeah I agree I watch other reaction channel and the people at the end give their thoughts on the movie what they liked about. It doesn't have to be long 10-15 mins would be cool

Perry Taliaferro

Another good reaction, but guys, please, please... please, after you pause to joke around or to discuss aspects of what you are seeing, please rewind a couple seconds. You constantly miss things as you pause in the middle of a characters dialog and end up missing important details. Just hit a ten second rewind after you pause, please?

Sarah_M

Sean will get to pick up on a lot during the editing 🙌💜🥰

nezudev

I would pay to watch you guys watch this a second time just to see all the little things you missed. This movie is packed with details.

Eric is Me

I'll add my voice to this. In the last livestream they were asked and said that they try, but sometimes forget. Perhaps a friendly reminder like yours will help them remember :)

Aaron Roberts

Guys I'm trying to get my PhD in Shutter Island here, don't fuck me around, I need a dissertation from you two on every film

Grace Hetrick

I forgot buffalo bill was in this!!

Violet

This is good 🤣

Rekebeger

If you think this is mindscrews.. Can you please watch "Saw" ? The first one is enough. It's also a thriller. Excellent movie! =)

Hardwood Junkies

Hey Mike, really a big fan of you guys, but I wish you guys would engage with the actual criticism rather than a straw man of it. Nobody reasonable has an issue with you guys missing things. Everyone misses things. What people don't love, and it should be fairly obvious to you now given how often it is commented, is the way you guys don't discuss and analyze at the end. I don't know why you guys continue to avoid this, but it's always a huge let down. Just like with Game of Thrones, people don't care if you get everything. Nobody expects you to. We actually *want* you to have questions, it means you're paying attention. When you guys didn't have any questions about GOT because you were more focused on the silliness than the show, that's when people got annoyed. Now that you guys have made a more concerted effort to focus, which is much appreciated by the way, you guys have *more* questions and yet people are satisfied. We're happy to share those answers with you in the comments. We all had someone helping to answer questions for us when we all first watched. The lack of discussion and analysis after episodes/movies is no different. It makes people feel like you didn't really care, and it makes people wonder what stuck. I just spent 2.5 hours with you guys, and I don't know whether you understood Teddy was Andrew all along. If you didn't, it's totally fine! People would be happy to share that with you in the comments. But we'd like to know. And if you *did* understand, then, dude, we want to hear you talk about it! That's why we're all here.

Jim Ellis

Mikey, concerning the music you noted. You also heard it in and reacted to "Arrival". They played this piece as she was (technically) seeing into the future with her future child. It is a well known Classical piece that is used in many soundtracks. Hope that helps! Great reaction by the way! 😉

American Mum Reacts

I love the fact, until you see it multiple times, that 85% of the movie is in Leo's head... the boat coming in, the storm, the missing patient 💚

American Mum Reacts

Also, yes, we were ALL confused the first time we watched this film. It was written for the viewer to not realize what was going on. Until Leo reaches the lighthouse and the truth is revealed, no one expected that he was a patient there, not to mention the most "dangerous". This is one of my all-time favorite movies; I had my Mom watch it some years ago and she still thought everything that we saw on screen was real-- the ferry, the storm, the missing patient... I had to explain to her that from the time we see Leo throwing up on the ferry (withdrawal from his drugs, not seasick) we were seeing what his mind had created. Such a great film! Great reaction 💚

Patrick DaCosta

You guys need to watch The Pianist with Adrien Brody. I bet that would be a great reaction.

Zionwar

I for one tend to skip the after thoughts. I prefer the in the moment reaction without the word salad.

joeltt1

On the topic of Leo, I too did not like his content in general... UNTIL Inception. I hope you all get to watch it one day, its a potential life-changer.

Becky Johnson

Yeah, Leo sucks now. He was a good actor when he was young but not now.

Glen

He was of sound mind at the end, he chose the lobotomy because he didn’t want to be in a world without his kids and where he killed his wife, his doc said Teddy because he picked up on this from his last comment, and he didn’t even look back to respond

Ryan Holmes

Kinda crazy to not talk about this movie for more than a minute after it ended lol
