Grace Hetrick

I had forgotten Buffalo Bill and Casey Jones show up in this

Pixel Tweeker

I’m sure you realized by the end of the movie, but yes, you are supposed to be that confused in the middle of it. It’s pretty great on the second watch too, knowing all the hidden motives and seeing the furtive glances everyone else is giving each other the whole time.

El Mémé

From what i understand it's pretty clear in the end that yes, Leo was an actual patient who did murder his wife. In the end, he chooses to pretend he still believes in the story of being a US marshall in order to get a lobotomy, rather than having to live with his guilt. But yeah, cool movie ! In case you haven't seen it and are in the mood for a chill fun sort of mystery thing, i really recommend Knives Out !

The film is a masterpiece because Martin Scorsese attempted to shift the perspective. When we see a madman, we usually see only the madman. But what does the madman see? What does he experience? That is what Martin Scorsese sought to explore in this film and he did so masterfully. After all, right up until the end, you are led to believe that he isn't the madman. It is also an incredibly sad and tragic story, his wife was insane and killed their three children, leading him to kill her, which, in turn, drove him mad. Then there is the fantastic soundtrack. It is a textbook example of what a madman's world looks like. I cannot think of another film that portrays this as explicitly and credibly as Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island. He really should have won an Oscar for it.

Aus-Nay

He went 100% crazy after murdering his wife (who did kill their kids) but interestingly at the end when he says “is it worse to live as a monster, or die as a good man?” He is discreetly telling ruffalo that he’s actually sane but can’t live with himself now knowing the truth (being a monster), so would rather be lobotomised “die” by pretending to be Teddy again.

MAURICIO ORELLANA AMADOR

This is a movie you enjoy even more on the rewatch because you start seeing all the clues you missed the first watch. It is so clever how they mindfuck us. The sad part is they succeeded in getting him out of his delusion, only for him to decide he preferred to be lobotomized rather than to live as a monster.
