Yoooo here we go! I'll grab the tissues

Kyle Kozina

Posting this at two in the morning 😭

Liam D.

Up at 6 in the morning and don't have work till 6:30 tonight I think this will fill a few hours of my day just fine

Gerardo Perez

Just got off work 🙌 I'm ready

Mikey Show Presents

Watch me fight off a massive emotional meltdown for 2/3 of the movie... still recovering...

James Nyman

You guys are some of the coolest Uncs on the internet😂 Much love yall!

Jim Ellis

Yes! Been waiting for this!

amy McLoughlin

Yuss! 8pm and I've been checking every hour. I've been looking forward to this. Outside their preferences but a charming story that gets ya

Perry Taliaferro

Just loving the VCR intro scenes, guys ;) If these two don't get teary-eyed while watching this, I'm throwing my monitor. :D Of course this movie had no effect on me, it didn't make me look like I had been cutting onions for days, oh no, not me... nope... *ahem*... but these two? I expect it and I look forward to it :) EDIT - And I read this Andy Weir book when it hit (well I listened to the audiobook) because the movie The Martian, written by the same author, was so good. That movie, The Martian, is currently on the movie poll. I can't remember who put it on the list, but please vote for it, so we can continue this Weir journey ;)

🌸Foof🌸

Fingers crossed we get a Barbie reaction one day lol. I love Ryan in it 🤣

Jamie Walton

OMG!!!!!!!! As someone who gets up at 4 am, thank you so much.

Jamie Walton

Cast iron enthusiast here. Visit Smithey ironwware. I have a set of three that I plan to be buried with.

Phylicia ✨🌸

Cried my eyes out watching this reaction. 😭 I think this was the first time I’ve ever seen Sean get this emotional, too. What a top-tier reaction! ❤️

Cristabel

You guys were following along better than most, you def were on track for the most part! It’s supposed to be confusing in the beginning, prob to make you feel how Grace is feeling. This movie is insanely good. Makes me weep the entire time no matter how many times I watch it. Turns me into complete mush. And you’re welcome!! I suggested and voted for this gem and it was as great to watch with the fellas as I had imagined. This one is truly special and I’m so glad you guys loved it!!

Cristabel

Yes! I haven’t read project Mary yet but the Martian, book and movie, are both great

Cristabel

Sean you shouldn’t fight the tears just let em flow! This is what we all want!! Weepy emotional wreck Sean!!

Monnisnah

Rocky! (heart emoji)

Perry Taliaferro

Totally agree. And a lot of times, understandably so, the movies have to leave so much of the book they are based on out, that the movie is nowhere near as immersive as the source material. However with both these movies (this and The Martian), they do such a good job of giving us most everything that made the books great. Plus, more importantly, they don't "dumb it down" either movie. They give us just enough to understand what is going on, without hand-holding or treating us like we are 10 years old, that it makes it even better.

Perry Taliaferro

Yes, this. You are supposed to feel just as confused as Grace is... slowly coming around to that epic last memory recall And thanks for the suggestion

The Quiet Comprehending

Someone please make a GIF, sticker, clear screenshot of them clapping with their mouths wide open around the 2:33 mark when he finds Rocky.

Sarah_M

I'm not past the Magic Eraser yet (I am dying laughing), but just wanted to say my peace as a 37 year old lady. This year my bestie and I were catching up one Friday evening -- friends since we were 12 years old -- and by around 10pm after a few bottles of wine we found ourselves in her bathroom, demonstrating the best shower scrubbing products and technics we had. Very very genuinely. Am I saying that things change as we age? Yes. Yes I am. Did it makes us want to call our mums and lament that we'd become just like them? Also sincerely yes. It's safe to say that the journey of self discovery becomes a very humbling thing as we get older. 💜🤣

Sarah_M

Now I'm going to finish watching this while I sip diet coke from my Yetti. Dear lord. 😅🤣

Jacob

Oh good, the movie that made me sob for about two hours straight. Round two, I guess 😂

Aaron Roberts

Can I suggest you guys watch Pluribus? New show that I think you'd absolutely love with a similar vibe to this in some ways. Sci-fi mystery. Made by the guy who made Breaking Bad.

Phylicia ✨🌸

Love the bit when they’re having a moment while Sandra Hüller is singing “Sign of the Times.” One of my favorite scenes in the movie! 🥹❤️

LittleHorus

Movie is the bomb! You HAVE to read the book Mike and Sean, it is SO good!

Tim Steel

I’m so glad you got to see this. I hope you do The Martian next… it was the first movie adaption of Andy Weirs novels

KROOKERS

love you all as always, gonna watch this with a beer after work. bless you guys

Matt R

The way I have been waiting for this 😭 thanks for making my work day!

Echo Moon

Amaze, amaze, amaze!!!

Blaze

first time watch for me two LOved this movie! thanks for allowing me to watch it with you guys!

SamlovesWillow

Just at the start of the reaction...can you get one of those scrubby things for my ex?

Kaylen

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Sean struggle to NOT cry 😭 Mikey, I also said to myself when I first watched this movie, "I can't believe I'm crying over a rock alien thingy."

S Kim

Love you guys! Can’t wait to see this one :)

MomzillaAngie

These guys are my favorite old married couple and I 100% understand why they live in different states. 😆💜 Ain’t love grand? Wonderful reaction guys! 🩷💙💜

SamlovesWillow

That was such a treat to watch this with you guys. It's such a fab film, glad you enjoyed it 😁

A Romanian named Andrei

I loved this reaction. And I’ve really loved both this book and movie. I also want to highlight how important it is for many of us to see you be affected emotionally by these movies. I wouldn’t be surprised if many of your fans are nerdy folks who turn to reaction videos to remember how WE were affected by these movies the very first time we saw them. Seeing you laugh and cry is part of that, so please don’t stifle your emotional impulses. They are natural and awesome, and they show that you are as moved as we were. Side note: I’m with Sean on the betrayal feeling. Even if I knew I was safe and ok, I would know that I am returning to a place where MANY people (not just Eva Stratt, but the doctors, military staff, and the other crew members) had conspired to essentially sacrifice me for the survival of the planet. I was a lamb for slaughter. Would I be treated as a hero? Sure. But I would then be forced to either: A) pretend like I volunteered all along so that I can feel like a hero and be treated as such B) tell everyone that I was sent against my will, and face the judgment of people who now see me as a coward, and others who pity me.

A Romanian named Andrei

Oh and a tidbit of info about the astrophage, as described in the book: It’s made of water BUT its shell is made of a material that doesn’t let any light or heat in (hence why they’re black under a microscope) unless they are feeding, in which case they let a small amount of radiation in and store it (in a way that is not described). They can then release that energy (in the form of infrared radiation) to move.

Kylezart

Im kind of new to patreon, here, but do videos need to be blurred every few seconds?

Kylezart

No, I dont think he had just remembered being coma induced and put on the ship when they showed it in the movie. I think his memories would have all come back well before that point. They were just showing it to us as the audience. I think he really did just find the courage to commit along the way, but had the memories of how afraid he was to get on the ship at the first, within the first few days.

Carlos Gonzalez

Ryan Gosling is someone you guys should become real familiar with, because he's awesome and most of his films are awesome.

Gary M Denison II

You guys didn't notice that he didn't need the translator to talk to rocky on his planet.

Christopher Altamirano

I hope the watch The Martian, the book was written by the same author that wrote this one

Trevor Flowers

The pre-YT opening bit: 😹 Thanks for sharing, guys.

Adrian

What a fantastic reaction! Sean said the name "Rocky" before it was revealed. Maybe it was luck, or perhaps he had seen the trailer and was pretending, but it doesn't matter. I really loved the movie and appreciated their reaction.

deadpixelsociety

I think part of the reason this movie is so good is because it brings back optimistic sci-fi. So much mainstream sci-fi has turned towards hostile aliens, dystopian futures, or whatever other conflict you can think of. PHM instead sets a shared problem before us and let's two species connect across the galaxy to save them both. It's just a great time in a genre that doesn't get that so much anymore.

Daniel Saras

I'm sure that I'm not the only one in the patreon community for whom this is true, but if this movie hadn't won the poll, It would have been my personal mission to get you guys to watch it. It's been a long time since a movie joined my personal pantheon of movie favorites and I knew this one was making the cut halfway through.

Kyle Kozina

Sean was so insightful the whole movie I fell he had seen it lol

Erin Vincent

Hadn’t seen this before so I watched along with you guys! This movie was a 10 out of 10!!! This was absolutely fantastic!

MomzillaAngie

IKR? As a kid I never thought the little things in life would matter the most!

MomzillaAngie

I understood so much better this second time watching with the guys! I didn't notice the Beatles named probes alongside the Going Home song! I love that the most about second watches of awesome movies.

Luke

One of the best!

Kevin Bisson

I’m so glad you guys loved it. I was a blubbering mess in the theater. Instant buy for me as well, Mikey. Sean, looked like some tears were trying to get out for a little bit there. Great reaction as always guys! Loved this one!

Michael Chase Vickery

My first reply on yalls first reaction video on Patreon was to watch this movie lol I knew it would become an instant favorite. It's chicken noodle soup for the soul

Spro2121

You guys are the best! Keep it up

Noc

Great stuff, I saw it in Imax with my mom and wife, I'm glad it was dark in there.

WingmanFL

Recently I had a partial knee replacement surgery (I’m an MSPOG) and am close to bedridden for six weeks (so thankful for my wife taking great care of me). Mike’s & Sean’s movie and TV reactions help pass the time and, to me, are better viewing content than most anything else on YT, Patreon, or actual streaming. Excellent job, gentlemen, and thank you for your authenticity and chemistry as friends. Please keep up the fun!

Duhderpicus3000

First time seeing this movie. Crying like a bitch with y'all. And im really not a cryer. Much love

Accolon

What is Sean's job? He seems so smart

Fallenshroud

So glad you did this movie! I will say, the big reveal that he didn't decide to go hits harder in the book. The writing style shifts. He has a serious crisis over not being the person he thought he was. It's amazingly well done.

Omar Reeves

I have an Etsy store 😂

Dakota Yates

This is a gem of a movie and deserves all the praise! Spectacular filmmaking at its best!

Daniel Dobbs

I really enjoy that you guys pause when you discuss. So many reactors yap through the movie and wonder why they’re confused later on.

Allie Aalto

What a great movie, I love it so much. Glad you did too.

Naxxyo21

Naxxyo was feeling depressed. Rocky fix.

Josh

One of my favorite movies reacted by my favorite reactors! I just can say: Thank you! =)

Ladyjaded

I figured it out. Whatever you did with the vhs tape opener stops your commentary from being subbed! This one, BoB, and Chernobyl are the only ones that have the vhs opener and the only ones that your commentary is not subbed!

Carissa

Joined Patreon from YouTube. You both remind of a combination of my dad, who passed when I was 7, and am now 32. You’ve been so enjoyable to watch films with; it’s very much a great comfort to me. You two are awesome. 💕 I love this film, this is the third time I’ve seen it. It’s one of a kind.

Jerome

Loving your reactions videos so far and this one is a little special to me as I work in post-production and got lucky to take part in the making of this movie for a few monthes in animation. It always makes my day to see people get emotional over the scenes I participated in making. 🤩 And Rocky was a beautiful mix of real life puppet acting and 3D Animation blended together. I think it helped makes him so real and really fleshed out his interactions with Ryan. And the music never cease to amaze me !

Cristabel

Just rewatched, still weeping through 1/2 of this movie! Love you guys!!❤️❤️

Rocket_Man

Thank you so much for doing a reaction to this. I know I’ve been pestering it for a couple of months. This movie made me feel so good. I’m an engineer so here are some explanations that you’ve probably figured out: Tau seti is 11 light years away, the vehicle can accelerate at like 1.5 G (acceleration caused by gravity on earth) and it gets to near light speed before it needs to slow down to enter tau’s orbit, so he is technically slowing down when he wakes up. In the book (same author as the Martian) he knows gravity feels heavy, but he doesn’t know why. The book spends several chapters on his inner monologue of him waking up until he can walk. The book also spends a lot of time on the breeding of the nitrogen resistant taumeba, and him clearing his ship of the contamination. Not things that can be translated well to screen, so I don’t blame the director for changing that. If you look closely, the shot of Stratt at the end, you can see a prison tattoo on her, so it is implied that she went to prison for some time because of her actions. The spinning of the ship makes gravity. It’s like if you swung a grocery bag in an arc, you can keep all of the items in the bag (plastic please) without them falling out if you spin it fast enough. The items are pushed away from the center of spin. So that’s how they made gravity. This is one of the movies that I feel define a decade for movies. It’s so amazing and I loved being part of your journey through it.

Fletcher Moore

Dr. Ryland Grace Hail Mary Full of Grace Also Rocky had been alone at Tau Ceti for 43 years before Grace got there. So rocky arrived before Grace was even born.

Narda Rubio

Just got my membership today when I saw you reacted to this on YouTube but desperately wanted to see the full length. I really enjoy watching both of your reactions, you guys make it much more entertaining!

SDSavvy

Excellent. 👎👎

SugaIsMyPetRock (Pamela)

Joined your patreon after 1 YouTube video. I rarely do that. Trust me when I say that except for the reactors that had already read the book you guys are getting it a little quicker than a lot of reactions I’ve seen. Looking forward to binging some more of your videos now that I’m here🫰🏻💜

SugaIsMyPetRock (Pamela)

So true. And the narrators for both Martian-Will Wheaton & PHM-Ray Porter are magnificent!

SDSavvy

When Grace made the decision to save Rocky, he did it knowing that he did not have enough food to last even for the trip to Erid. So, he essentially made the choice to die to save Rocky and Rocky's entire planet.

Plinko Zoinks

The book is even better, and explains a lot of things you had questions about. The audiobook is the BEST audiobook I've ever listened to. I highly recommend it.

Kriscerosaurus

Magic Eraser has no right being as good as it is. Been using them for years. Started using it at work to get sharpie off dry-erase surfaces.

Ryan Holmes

I love this channel, as this is my first film watching with you two. Can already say I wish there were more movies! Also, I think you guys were actually ahead of most reactors when it came to predictions lol

Kriscerosaurus

Y’all clicked with a lot of stuff that other reactors tend to miss or misunderstand! And when you didn’t, you were asking good questions. Well done, y’all.

Cj Dunwiddie

Love you fellas. Had a blast with you on this

Dynastysc2

Loved this film, loved this reaction. I wish you guys would talk a little more after the movie regarding maybe your favourite parts or your not so favourite parts, I understand this comes across in the reaction already, but it would be nice to know what's going on in your head as the movie is closing off.

Michael Lee

Subscribed just to see the full movie reaction. This is one of those movies that is so great I love watching reactions just to relive the experience with others.

Bob

At the start he is "up and adam" but I just finally realised who Lucy is in righty tighty, lefty Lucy. I thought Lucy was some American reference I didn't fully understand all these years. Now I realised it's loosey not Lucy after your Adam discovery.

Izanne

So glad y’all loved this so much. It’s an incredible movie, gives you all the emotions, but the best one, it just makes you happier than any movie in recent years. The book is also incredible and worth reading (though they did a good job translating the book into a movie).

Vero Chile

Thank you for this reaction. I just enjoyed so much rewatching this movie with you guys. This is my new comfort movie. BTW, Mike just like you said, I loved Grace’s sweater and already got it :)

Mak H

I would feel so ashamed. Like I just completed this mission assuming that I was a big hero volunteer, only to find out I was forced into it. I tried to run away and the only reason I'm here is because they strapped my ass onto the rocket. None of the volunteers made it, but I get to live. In real life I deal with a lot of anxiety. I can't tell you how embarrassed I get after I finish doing something that I put off, and avoided, and dragged my heels on. Only to realize I absolutely had it in me. Not saying Grace should feel that way, but it's how I would feel.

Mak H

but that is also what makes the final act so important! Grace found his courage because he found someone to be brave for :)

BS Productions Radio

This react is so good. I had to watch it twice! Good Job Guys!

Tim Wayne

Mikey! Have you seen the youtubes where they polish the cast iron to a mirror finish? Seek them out!

Tim Wayne

"I'm not reacting!" Gosh, Mikey, being awestruck, or gobsmacked, or rendered speechless - those are the *best* reactions. The song didn't need commentary - I saw it on your faces. Sean looked like he was transcendently happy - it was so great to see. I hope you don't feel obligated to talk every minute for us out in the peanut gallery. We're OK to share some moments in silence.

Alan Stock

That is so cool Jerome! Congrats on being part of a team that made an incredible film, it's testament to the effects that the immersion is never broken in this, you just buy into it immediately with its grounded feel and Rocky never has a hint of being anything but a real little rock guy. And that lets the story and drama come to the forefront whilst still looking amazing. Kudos to you all.

Becca T

This movie perfectly captures what it means to have heart and soul at a deeply human level and I think that is what makes it special. Beautiful reaction from you both. Please please please take the time to listen to the audiobook its beyond incredible and you will bawl your eyes out even more. But its worth every single second.👎👎👎 amaze amaze amaze.

Becca T

Don't remind me 😭
