Cutting News! | NZGDC Is Coming (Patreon)

It is Wednesday, my dudes, and I have never missed a Sunday News drop in 2 full years - so I think I owe you a smaller, late update.

Wellington > Matamata > Thames > Auckland > ThamesI'm currently in Thames, doing some last minute convention prep. Thanks to Jean-Luc for helping me get around.

HobbyconBig event! And my first ever Auckland convention since Swords started!I met Ari the Magician, who is currently kickstarting his game Colormatch; Mo from Dice Goblin and a few others. I've converted Mo into a Choplet fan! He and another nice guy named Keith bought a few copies of Cut The Deck for their stores.I also met a young fan who plans to make her own comic - I didn't have much specific advice for her, but I can tell she's going to work hard on her ideas. Thanks to the handful of big fans who were excited to find me there too!I stayed with a friend I haven't seen in 20 years, who has been consistently offering me a place to stay whenever I'm in Auckland and I finally took him up on it. It was good to finally reconnect.

OverloadI attended Overload as a customer. Another huge event! It took me 3 hours to see everything before starting a second walk around. I (finally) met Memoh in person and bumped into another friend from college I haven't seen in decades. I got a bit stuck when another-nother friend ghosted me, so it was dinner for one at Britomart.Dice Goblin TTRPG Design NightI met Liam, Dan, Dan 2, Hugo and Steven (Stephen?) who all pitched the TTRPGs they are working on and we talked through some specific challenge they are trying to overcome with their design. Mo had a lot of insightful feedback, he's a real pro. Dan and Hugo played a game of Cut The Deck : Choplet's Dungeon using the new cards and new rulebook with no handholding from me and got through without any mistakes, which I think is a huge success. There is one card I will nerf slightly.UPSI didn't get my physical copies of Choplet's Dungeon in time for NZGDC, but if fate is kind to me, they're going to arrive at PikPok tomorrow morning and someone can bring them to me. It's gonna be dicey!NZGDCI will be tabling at NZGDC on Thursday/Friday/Saturday. You can come see me on Saturday as part of Kiwi Game Zone. I would love to meet all of you! I'll be giving out Quest Sprout stickers.ABCsI'm going to finish V and W and then save X, Y and Z until after I've addressed some fan feedback on the rest of them. I can't reconcile printing a book without making a few improvements. I'll be meeting Jason Lennie from NZ Comics, who helped me print my other books, in a couple of weeks.

Beginners' BladeBro, you need a Beginners' Blade bro. Time is running out, bro.

Auckland Thursday-SaturdayIf you wanna catch up, holler! I don't know all the good dinner spots. Let's have a drink.

I'll go into more detail about all these events and more next update. See you soon!
