Hey patrons,

As promised, here's the extra video we put together to sit alongside our documentary about Jerry Gretzinger and his wonderful map. There's loads of lovely extra bits in here, like the moment Quinns came face to face with the very first panel Jerry created all those years ago, or for those among you who like to watch video footage of drones crashing into stuff before plummeting to the ground... we've got something for you as well. You sickos. Also, while I'm here, I thought you might like a little peek behind the curtain into how the documentary we published two weeks ago has now been received.

The worry with this one was although we were pretty sure we'd found an amazing story to tell, we didn't know whether it'd be able to find the right audience on YouTube and beyond. We were reasonably confident that the PMG crowd would be able to get on board with the way in which Jerry's deck of cards informs his creative process, but could this documentary also reach other folks as well?Well, so far, so very good! The video has already been viewed more than 650,000 times, which is well above our average for a PMG video at the two-week mark and I've been seeing it pop up in all sorts of interesting places from John & Hank Green's newsletter, to /r/JerryMapping, to prompting its own discussion at a small London "unconference" for tabletop game makers a few days after we'd published:

(Photo credit: Dr. Emily Friedman)It's been a very gratifying couple of weeks and although we really don't like judging the success of our work based on view counts alone (that way leads only to total madness and despair), we just feel so pleased that this one has found so many of the people we'd hoped it might.

Anyway, enjoy the extra video and keep an eye on your inboxes tomorrow. We've got one last surprise to share.

Seeing Jerry's process and how the rules for his procedural generation themselves change as part of the process was so creatively inspiring. I'm sure I'm not alone in immediately starting to think about how this could be applied to all manner of medium. While the map itself is a beautiful artefact, I'm so much more interested in the art that is his process, so I'm really glad he shared that with us all.

Thank you so much for this comment, Ross!! I'm very touched that it left such an impression on you and gosh, I'm glad you see so much of yourself in Jerry.

When the gaming nerds find common ground with the weird art nerds, strange and beautiful things happen. =P I had a blast watching the documentary and this video was a very nice sort of conclusive digestive after it. Great stuff!

Thanks Jerry, thanks PMG!
