Happy Friday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Labyrinth (1982). This is a fun fantasy movie that you needed after feeling stressed out after watching Air Force One (1997). I just bought my DVD copy of the movie and I plan on watching it this weekend.

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 This is such a great movie. And the soundtrack by David Bowie is fantastic! Growing up with this movie in the 80s some of the creatures used to terrify me when I was younger. LOL! Definitely looking forward to watching this later this evening. Have a great day and weekend! 😊

And speaking of Jennifer Connelly, who plays Sarah Williams in this movie, Penny Benjamin in Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and as the voice of Karen in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), I also suggest Career Opportunities (1991), The Rocketeer (1991), Higher Learning (1995), Inventing the Abbotts (1997), the 2008 Director's Cut of Dark City (1998), Requiem for a Dream (2000), A Beautiful Mind (2001), The Hulk (2003), Blood Diamond (2006), The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008), Noah (2014), Only the Brave (2017) and Alita: Battle Angel (2019). #MoreJenniferConnellyForAddieCounts

Speaking of David Bowie, I also suggest The Hunger (1983), directed by Tony Scott, the director of Top Gun (1986). #TheHunger1983ForAddieCounts

Magic Dance became my favorite David Bowie song after seeing this movie :)

Toby was played by Toby Froud. As well as growing up to be a successful puppeteer and artist his parents, Brian and Wendy Froud, are legendary fairy artists. They had been designing and making the goblin puppets for Labyrinth long before he was born and he’d spent his entire life with those goblins and the people operating them so he’s never really scared or freaked out by being on set. It’s just his version normal.

INTERESTING!!! Looks like 'we' just missed the re-release/'almost 40th birthday' ! BOO! Her name is Sarah! 😺

I saw this in the theater when I was 16. I sooooo fell in love with Jennifer Connely. We were on vacation in Reno, so I went back to see this movie a few times. ;)

I was only 10 when it came out, so I wasn’t swooning just yet, I fell in love with Jennifer Connelly when I saw The Rocketeer :)

"This is like Monty Python for kids" - funny you say that, the screenplay for Labyrinth was written by Terry Jones, one of the members of Monty Python. He was the knight in Holy Grail who was introduced in the scene with the witch being weighed against a duck. I'm so glad you enjoyed this Addie, it's been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. I do hope you'll get to Jim Henson's other non-Muppet movie someday, The Dark Crystal. If you thought some of these puppets were creepy, the Skeksis will really spook you!(but I think you'll really enjoy it)

The “fire gang” who kept popping their heads off did freak me out, kinda still does. You have taken your first step in a great list of fantasy movies. Ladyhawke is my all time favorite, maybe one day I’ll get to watch it with you.

This movie is one of a bunch that my dad absolutely insisted that I see as a kid (along with "Goonies," "The Neverending Story", "The Princess Bride," "The Last Starfighter," "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Willow," and the 90's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie). So, even though it was made almost twenty years before I was born or something, it was still part of my childhood. Everyone talks about how the Fierys were scary when they were kids. I found them delightful! (Side note: They're called "Fiery" 1-5 in the credits, but for some reason my dad calls them the "Chilly Downs." Not sure where that came from, but I'm curious if anyone else knew them by that name). Of course, I also didn't understand why Sarah wouldn't want them to take her head off. I mean if they did, surely, she would turn all stretchy and detachable like them, right? Was that a bad thing? (That was what I was thinking at the time, anyway... I have much darker assumptions as an adult 😨). I'm glad you liked it. I will never complain about giving "Labyrinth" another watch!

Was "Labyrinth" released in 1982? I knew it was made almost 20 years before I was born, but I didn't think it was actually MORE than 20 years old when I spawned into the world. I'm curious now though because you said '82, it says the movie is copyright '86 in the credits, and our digital copy lists it as '87. Was there like a re-release or something?
