Here's the full length reaction to Tron! I'm going to Disney soon, and one of the rides I'm most excited for is the Tron Lightcycle ride. I figured I should watch the movie beforehand! I didn't love this one, but I imagine the effects were mind-blowing when it came out. I've heard amazing things about the sequel, so I'm excited to watch that one soon! Enjoy!

Happy Monday, Addie. Welcome to the grid. TRON (1982) is one groundbreaking sci-fi movie for it's time. It's been TEN YEARS since the last time I traveled to Walt Disney World in Florida and I highly doubt that I'll ever get to go back there soon (although I visited Disney Springs in November 2014 and recently in May 2022). The Tron Lightcycle / Run looks awesome. I got to ride it's original counterpart TWICE at Shanghai Disneyland, in October 2018, and it's my all-time favorite Disney ride to date. The only difference is that you place your personal belongings in lockers in the Florida version whereas cast members have bins for them in Shanghai. I do hope you & Jeremy have a magical time at Walt Disney World. See you real soon for TRON: Legacy (2010). You're DEFINITELY gonna love that one.

OMG Classic. Never thout our Addie would react to this one. State of the art effects and i was blown away when this came out. Showing my age now lol.

BTW, when I suggested this movie to you in your October 2022 Q&A, it got mixed up with the Robert Zemeckis movies in the last question before the Colbert Questionnaire. Zemeckis DID NOT direct this movie, it was directed by Steven Lisberger. The sequel TRON: Legacy (2010) was directed by Joseph Kosinski, the director of Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and a third movie, TRON: Ares (2025) is in production. It's directed by Joachim Rønning.

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 I was honestly expecting "Creed 2" today. But this is an even better surprise! This(and the sequel) is easily one of my top favorite Jeff Bridges films. I keep forgetting that David Warner(who played Edward Dillinger) is in this movie. And for it being a 1982 movie, I've always loved the special effects in it. I'm already excited for you to watch the sequel "Tron: Legacy" next. You'll love it! Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

David Warner (RIP) was also Spicer Lovejoy in Titanic (1997).

Yeah this movie isn't great, didn't age well but at the time the effects were good. You'll enjoy the sequal and the soundtrack to the sequal better as it was made by Deadmaus who if you dont know are world renoun DJ artists who also cameo in the film.

Steve SG-1

I thought Daft Punk did the soundtrack.

Alex Tan

Wendy Carlos, the composer of The Shining (1980), did this movie and Daft Punk did TRON: Legacy (2010).

Steve SG-1

Yup that's what I thought.

Never cared for this movie, but the Tron arcade game was very fun (even though I stunk at it). I do think the original movie is better than the sequel, so there's that.

Patrick Egan

Yes, this movie is quite dated. I do think you'll really enjoy the sequel though. The story is better, and the visual effects still look awesome 14 years later.

shit, you right it was Daft Punk, don't know what I'm smokin

As a kid, I remember asking my dad if we could rent this at the video store and he was always like "nah, get something else". Then when I finally saw it, I understood why. It's still pretty interesting from a history of VFX perspective. The Corridor Crew video on it is good.

In 1982, the special effects in this movie were amazing. My 14yo mind was completely blown away. However, the Motion Picture Academy refused to consider it for the Best Visual Effects award because computer-generated graphics were "cheating". The award instead went to ET, a way better movie but not remotely in the same league for special effects.

I watching this movie so many times as a kid, I wore out my aunts SelectaVision disc. That’s right! I watched movies on vinyl! It was a thing!
