Here's the full length reaction to The Accountant, the winner of this month's spinning wheel! I had no idea that this movie was THIS GOOD!! I think this is one of my favorites that I've watched this year! I didn't know anything about this movie, so I had no idea that there was a sequel coming out... literally today?! I hope the sequel is as good as this one! Enjoy!

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 I've been looking forward to this one. One of my favorite Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick films. And I'm really looking forward to seeing the sequel. For more Ben Affleck, I highly recommend the 1999 movie "Forces of Nature". And for more Anna Kendrick, I highly recommend the 2009 "Up in the Air". The English actress Alison Wright played the autistic woman, Justine, in "The Accountant" (2016) and that was her actual voice we heard during the phone calls. I watched her among the regular cast of the series, "Snowpiercer" a few years ago.

I generally have a limited tolerance for Ben Affleck -- not his fault, just personal taste, I guess. Anyway, I'd pick this as my favorite performance. I will watch anything with Anna Kendrick. I was drawn to her movies not long after my wife died, then I realized they are so alike in personality, a judgement reinforced by watching interviews and reading her book. Another movie I liked with a neuro-atypical lead is "Please Stand By" (2017) with Dakota Fanning. A little less violent than this one, but good dramatic tension.

This is a fun one. I think of it as the Affleck Batman movie he wanted to make. JK Simmons was Commissioner Gordon at the time and Gavin O’Connor had been named as a potential Batman director (there were even rumours of an Anna Kendrick Robin) and it feels like a lot of ideas might have been repurposed for the Accountant. Speaking of Gavin O’Connor, Warrior (2011) is even better which is insane because it’s an actual UFC movie.

Man Ben Affleck is so good in this! I really appreciate his subtle performance when he sees his brother at the end. His whole mood shifts, not because he hates his brother, he hates that this is another thing he can't "Completely" finish. He went in there expecting to kill everyone, but he can't now.

I'm Autistic. This film does a very good job at showing the desire to bring logic and order (precision) to the world, as well as how bad things get thrown off when an established routine is disrupted.
