Let's give Addie a round of applause for surviving Heat (1995)! 👏👏 Happy Friday. This is one intense movie that I REALLY wanna watch. I own it on 4K Blu-ray and I'm watching it later today or on Saturday Night (although I did watch the first half while working out this week). BTW, perfect timing for the film's 30th anniversary this year.

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 RIP always to Val Kilmer! It's been awhile since I've seen this movie. I do pretty much remember most of the cast. Definitely looking forward to revisiting this movie later this evening. Have a great day today & a great weekend! 😊

Now since this is your FIRST Michael Mann movie, I also suggest Thief (1981), The Keep (1983), Manhunter (1986), the 2010 Director's Definitive Cut of The Last of the Mohicans (1992), The Insider (1999), the 2002 Commemorative Edition of Ali (2001), Collateral (2004), the Unrated Version of Miami Vice (2006), Public Enemies (2009), Blackhat (2015), and Ferrari (2023). #MoreMichaelMannForAddieCounts

This is one of my favorite films. Also, this is what I call a cinematic masterpiece. Director Michael Mann got the idea for this film after hearing about the true story of a cat and mouse story between a Chicago detective and a veteran bank robber. Christopher Nolan loves this film and used it as a template for 'The Dark Knight'. The legendary coffee scene is THE scene and is based on real events. The real Vincent Hanna and Neil McCauley actually did meet face to face and talked in a Chicago cafe. Also, the downtown shoot-out is iconic and visceral and realistic, the gunshots were all in camera and authentic. I love this film!

Heat (1995) is actually a remake of Michael Mann's L.A. Takedown (1989) which is weird but there you go.

If Addie feels the Heat🚨coming around the corner, she is NOT leaving her dog 🐶

There's never not a right time to watch this movie...unless you don't have a whole lot of time available. Shit. I fucked that up. Whatever, fantastic movie.

Good movie. I'm with Addie on it being a little long though, it's nearly three hours and probably could have lost 30 minutes and still kept all the main story beats. It's a great cast (including Xander Berkeley as the guy seeing Pacino's ex-wife, cool! It's always fun seeing him pop up.) I think De Niro really stole the show here, he was fantastic. Pacino was good but made some... unusual acting choices in some scenes. (And can we appreciate that Danny Trejo played a character literally named Trejo? 😄 ) Anyway a solidly fine movie, 8/10 for me. 👍

DRIVE (2011) I think you'll like it just as much as Heat

Thanks to Addie for watching this exciting, iconic film by Michael Mann. Addie has watched some of the other actors in previously viewed movies, too. Both William Fichtner and Tom Sizemore were U.S. Army combatants in "Black Hawk Down". Mykelti Williamson (Detective Sgt Drucker) was memorable as Bubba in "Cast Away" - he knew everything there was to know about the shrimpin' business! Two of the actors, Tom Noonan and Ted Levine (Detective Bosko), have played serial killers based on best sellers by author Thomas Harris, with Levine as Buffalo Bill in "The Silence of the Lambs". I won't name the Noonan film since Addie has not yet watched it (but it's pretty good, and directed by Michael Mann, too).

Come to think of it, the way that Ted Levine lay prone at the curbside after being shot by McCauley's crew at the bank was reminiscent of Buffalo Bill's final resting position after being shot by Clarice Starling.

Mykelti Williamson played Bubba in Forest Gump (1994). Speaking of him, I also suggest Con Air (1997) with Nicolas Cage. Danny Trejo is also in it. #ConAirForAddieCounts

...and speaking of Amy Brenneman, who plays Eady, I also have THREE Universal Pictures movies with her in it, with the first two being my Halloween suggestions: Casper (1995), with Bill Pullman and Christina Ricci (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wAX2fPs8zI), Fear (1996), with Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWYvGrAHQtk), and Daylight (1996), with Sylvester Stallone (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n594di7BAEI). #MoreAmyBrennemanForAddieCounts

Addie also saw Tom Sizemore in "Saving Private Ryan"
