There’s one shot in Dunkirk Tarantino called “the greatest shot in a war movie”

Mark Dahlen

Great list! You should watch them all

Alex Tan

Happy Thursday, Addie. All are great choices but my votes belong to Platoon (1986), We Were Soldiers (2002), Fury (2014), 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), and Dunkirk (2017), basically a bigger half of the poll. #MoreWarMoviesForAddieCounts

Andre Agog

Platoon is the real standout here. The Hurt Locker does deliver some top-tier performances. The rest I'd dump.

I

If All Quiet on the Western Front is picked, make sure to watch it in German with English subs. It really sets the mood.

Luis Fernandez

Rooting for Fury. I've been meaning to watch that since it came out and I still haven't. This will give me the perfect reason to watch.

Doug

Hmm, I picked Platoon here kind of on a whim but I don't really have a strong opinion on this one. 🤷‍♂️

Simone's Coconut Squire

Dunkirk is interesting but I feel like you have to watch it twice since it takes you half of your first watch through to figure out what the hell is happening with the timelines.

thomas king

We Were Soldiers is the best on this list

Doug

Hi Addie, thought I'd throw in a couple of possible suggestions for future war (or war adjacent) movie polls: - The Bridge over the River Kwai (1957) - The Great Escape (1963) - Patton (1970) - The Deer Hunter (1978) - Born on the Fourth of July (1989) - Downfall (2004) - The Imitation Game (2014)

We were soldiers is a fantastic movie

Kawaii Leonard

I picked Platoon. And Dunkirk is Nolan's worst movie, imo.

Baldemort

We were soldiers is in my opinion my fav Mel Gibson film. Its so powerful and emotional and its based on a book written by veterans of Veitnam and some of them even helped with this movie.

SR2 Prod.

If you ever get the chance to watch "All Quiet On The Western Front" be sure to watch it in the original German it was filmed in and have english subtitles.

Randee Carreno

Happy Thursday, Addie! 😊 All great choices for the poll for this week. I ended up voting for "We Were Soldiers". Have a great day today! 😊

Baldemort

Dunkirk is good but easily the most confusing Christopher Nolan film. The story is told entirely out of order with no cohesion. So it's up to you to fit together the timing of everything. Cinemaically amazing but not my favorite.

Kawaii Leonard

No, I've only seen all the movies from Momento forward.

Andre Agog

My obligatory plug for The Big Red One (1981)

Kyle Brandon Sanger

Such a difficult poll, I have three I wanted to vote for. I love 'Fury', and 'Dunkirk' is a triumph!

Jeff I.

I can understand some initial confusion at the beginning, but it's pretty obvious as you get further into the movie how the three timelines fit together. Nothing is left up to the viewer by the end.

Randolph Tirazona

I picked Platoon. Although I do like Dougs' suggestions but haven't seen the last 2 on his list and would edit in: "To Hell and Back" (1955)

JAKH

With June 6th just around the corner, also add: "The Longest Day" (1962) "Operation Mincemeat" (2021)

William Jackson

I'm a Vietnam Vet and picked We Were Soldiers because it better represent the boys who were there fighting

WastedPo

I find it so odd that whenever I see polls involving war-themed movies, "Born on the Fourth of July" is usually not even in the running. It's great, and it was deservedly nominated for multiple Oscars.

Jasbro

Fury once again just missing out, sad times.

Doug

Saying it’s more confusing than Tenet is something! 😄

Doug

Got me curious so I looked it up. Going by Rotten Tomatoes the worst movie he directed is Tenet (70%). But the worst movie he’s produced, not directed, is Transcendence (14%)

Baldemort

I never seen tenet, I wokldnt know

MrAustincummings

Tough war poll. War movies are tough in general, but you've already seen a lot of the best so now it's like... yeah whichever works lol.

Alex Tan

Dunkirk is gonna be one intense ride. I can tell that Addie is gonna be so stressed after that movie. Hopefully she does a comedy poll next week.

drew

if you watch we were soldiers you will bawl your eyes out

Chris Capitano

Fast and the furious? Worth a shot Lol

Fernando

I really, really hope Fury wins. Such a great and intense movie. Great cast too.

Cole Trahan

Captain America: Brave New World. Since it’s on Disney+ now:)

Joe Blankenship

Been a hot minute since I've seen The Hurt Locker. That was my vote since I want to watch it again.

Doug

Addie has a bit of MCU to catch up on eventually. 🙂 (e.g. Agatha All Along, Season 3 of What If, Daredevil). Maybe she’ll get back to it around when Thunderbolts gets to Disney+ ? 🤷‍♂️

Cole Trahan

I hope she does all of the defenders shows. It would be pretty cool. I haven’t found a single creator that has all the shows on Disney+ Thunderbolts will be on Disney+ late august to early September. 😭
