Happy Wednesday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Moneyball (2011). This is another sports movie that I have to watch. But another Brad Pitt movie that I'll also suggest to you is the upcoming F1 The Movie (2025). It's produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joseph Kosinski. #F1TheMovieForAddieCounts https://youtu.be/ge_ABjtYx88?feature=shared

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 RIP always to Philip Seymour Hoffman! I love this movie! This is easily one of my top favorite Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill films. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. For more Brad Pitt, I very highly recommend the 1997 "The Devil's Own". And for more Jonah Hill, I very highly recommend the 2012 "21 Jump Street" and the 2014 sequel "22 Jump Street". Have a great day today! 😊

Now having seen this, I feel like you should consider watching "Trouble with the Curve", which watches like a rebuttal of "Moneyball" and works well as a companion film.

I second the idea of watching Trouble with the Curve. Here’s a few other sports films to check out: Breaking Away (1979 Cycling) Tin Cup (1996 Golf) For Love of the Game (1999 Baseball) The Replacements (2000 Football) Warrior (2011 MMA) Breaking Away is a personal favorite.

I was surprised how much you liked this one. I was thinking, "Eh... Addie's not into baseball and this one is more drama than comedy. This is going to bore her." I stand corrected! I have deepened faith. 😁

Reed James

Bill Beane was the GM of the A's until 2015. He is now the Senior Advisor to the owner of the A's as well as a minor owner in the team.

Love this film, 9/10 for me. 🙂 To answer Addie’s question at the end, Sabremetrics, which refers to using the sorts of analytic measurements that Moneyball highlights, are nowadays widely used by all major league teams and baseball on general across the board to help inform all sorts of decisions in hiring, strategy, and determining how much a player is actually worth in contract negotiations. And baseball as a whole also uses sabremetric style analysis when evaluating possible rule changes and such. Of course at the end of the day it’s still humans making all the final decisions, but by embracing the use of rational statistics as a foundation for evaluating those decisions it has made a really significant impact on the game as a whole.

I remember buying the physical copy, back when we still had movie stores. Wishing for some some great bonus features, only to have 1 single blooper. No cast interviews or BTS or commentaries. just a single blooper of Brad Pitt laughing and completely losing it after Jonah Hill shown him that clip of big dude falling at the end. I thought "just one single blooper?" but it was hilarious he could NOT get it together. so I can't Not think of that when watching this from now on..

true story Tracy, CA.. just a little over an hour away from the Bay Area. I was already an Oakland Raiders fan and so I completed the package and started liking the A's I've lived and died with the success and failure of the A's, still do. What happened was a gift that will always be cherished.

The best part of this movie was seeing the old names of players who I greatly enjoyed watching growing up. Baseball and memories are incredible.

Hey Addie - I'm excited to be back with my OG reactor! (had to unsub for a bit for money reasons but I'm back now baby!) I love this movie and I'm ready to watch it and all the stuff I've missed out on the last few months!
