Here's the full length reaction to the Theatrical Release of Stargate! I loved the concept of this one, but it was just missing something for me! I think the pacing was a little off, so it made it hard to connect with the characters. It's still a fun sci fi movie though! Enjoy!

Happy Wednesday, Addie. I'm so glad that you still enjoyed Stargate (1994), despite the slow-paced character development. I have this movie on DVD and I'm watching the Director's Cut soon. BTW, the music from this movie was featured in the trailers and TV spots for Waterworld (1995), Jumanji (1995), Dragonheart (1996), Independence Day (1996), and Drag Me to Hell (2009).

That's an excellent way of describing this movie. It came sooooo close to being amazing, but never quite came together.

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 It's been awhile since I've watched this movie. The main thing about this one is that Kurt Russell is in it. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

I sort of predicted in the poll, that you wouldnt like this movie very much, I hope you give the other movies that were in the poll another run for it that I think would be more worth your time. Some amazing all time masterpieces there.

Steve SG-1

The TV show is where it's at. One of my favorite shows of all time. Pretty much fixes the issues and adds so much lore and the casting is great. There's also an in show joke about Kurt Russell's O'Neil and RDA's O'Neill. But it's strange I don't know a lot of people who are all 3 Star Wars, Star Trek and Stargate fans. They are Usually one and maybe a little of another but not all 3. 🤣

There's actually 4 Star fandoms: Starwars, Star Trek, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica. And, imo, Stargate SG1 is the best of them all.

The Dingo

I never really liked the shows - for me, I had the same experience as Addie in terms of the show - I felt like the characters were miscast.

Yeah, I'm pretty much with Addie on this one, I like it well enough but it's not my favorite partly because the second half isn't as good as the first. Ra himself is kind of meh, he mostly just walks around slowly glaring at people. The shows are definitely better in my opinion. Like any long running set of TV series they have their ups and downs in terms of quality, but overall they were pretty good! 👍 (If nothing else Jason Momoa being a breakout character on Stargate Atlantis for four years probably helped get his film career off the ground. 😄) To be fair, I haven't watched the shows in a long time so I'm not sure how well they actually hold up now, but I imagine they're still ok. On a tangent, if you're looking for more James Spader definitely check out The Blacklist. The show on the whole is pretty good, but Spader himself is absolutely terrific!

Cameron Kerby

Yay! This is one step closer to maybe someday starting your Stargate SG-1 run. The show is leaps and bounds ahead of the movie. No disrespect to Kurt Russell(I love him), but Richard Dean Anderson is just way better as O’Neill. Also, Michael Shanks is way better as Daniel Jackson. It’s a lot of seasons, but hopefully you’ll get to the show someday. 😀

Luis Fernandez

I'm in agreement with your assessment... not a great movie, but not terrible. For more 90s Kurt Russel as a sci-fi soldier in the desert, check out Soldier (1998). I'm not a huge James Spader fan but I did kinda enjoy Secretary (2002). And I'll throw in my favorite Erick Avari movie... Mr. Deeds (2002).

Luis Fernandez

Oh! And for truly horrible sci-fi... check out the new War of the Worlds. It is terrible in every way. You might have fun dogging on it while watching.

I remember seeing this in the theater. Liking the start but then got bored and went to play a video game. Came back and watched the rest of the movie and didn’t feel like I missed anything important of the story.

BND

Is that the one with Ice Cube? I saw the trailer, it looks like an AI made it 😂

Luis Fernandez

I wouldn't be surprised if AI created the whole thing, including generating Ice Cube haha. The acting in that movie was even worse than the visuals!

Joe Blankenship

I remember my little brother really liked this movie when it came out. He even had Stargate action figures. He had a Kurt Russell, James Spader, and a dog-head guy. I remember thinking it was funny that there was an action figure for the nerdy Egyptologist guy. "Look out, hieroglyphs! Here comes Daniel Jackson, PhD!"

Wreckingballryan

The Movie definitely isn't the best thing in the world. It's strongest point is the concept itself. The show is way better, I wish more reactors would watch it. That being said the show has 10 seasons for 213 episodes a spin off series lasting 5 seasons for a total of 99 episodes. So it's a bit much for reaction content.

I was also going to suggest Blacklist. One of my favourite shows and James Spader plays Red so well.
