Here's the full length reaction to Ted Lasso 3x12 ("So Long, Farewell"). SO MANY TEARS!!! I've seen a lot of criticism about Season 3, but this was a perfect finale for me. My understanding is that they wrote this as the series finale, and then they were later renewed for Season 4... I'm very curious to see where they take this show next. Thank you for following along with my Ted Lasso journey so far, and I can't wait for Season 4!! Enjoy!

Called it! Being the lover of musical theatre that you are I knew that you would absolutely adore the team performing “So Long, Farewell” to say goodbye to Ted. 😄 Also I love the trickery at the beginning making the audience think Ted and Rebecca hooked up. I’m glad that never happened, they’re not right romantically and Rebecca has her Dutch pilot stud 😜. Seeing Jamie building a real relationship with his father was so unexpected but welcome. I hope season 4 sees Keely and Roy getting back together.

2026-09-06 15:00 You're absolutely right that they wrote this as a three-season arc, so this was supposed to be a series finale and the episode plays out as a such. But Ted Lasso was such a hit that Apple basically begged Jason Sudeikis to come back for Season 4, but expect a much different cast without quite a few of the main characters. Season 4 will follow Richmond's women's team with Ted as coach, with maybe a few cameos from the men's team's characters. I'm so glad to see that you enjoyed this show as much as you did. It's my favorite show and it's been so awesome to find someone who feels as strongly about these characters as I do. It's been so much fun to follow along with you, Addie!

I love Ted’s one note on Trent’s book: “It’s not about me, it never was.” Sums up the whole series perfectly.

Now that you're wrapped up with this (for now), do you take suggestions for future series to check out? I highly recommend The Bear. Definitely not quite as sunny optimistic a vibe as this show, but there are a lot of heavy uplifting moments and you will probably cry quite a bit. It's technically characterized as a comedy for awards consideration purposes (and it practically swept the Emmys its first season), but it's more accurately an emotionally intense (and sometimes quite stressful) character-driven story with a good amount of comic relief sprinkled in to lighten it up a bit. The thing that it has most in common with Ted Lasso is that it has a lot of heart. You will feel all the feelings.

Thank you for the rec! I'm not adding any new shows for now because I'm planning to watch Stranger Things 5 in Nov/Dec and Fallout Season 2 as it comes out in Dec/Jan. I'll keep The Bear in mind in the future!

Knowing that this was meant to be a series finale, my only hope with Season 4 is that it doesn’t feel like a forced return. That being said, I loved all three seasons so I have full faith in the writers of the show.

Such a great finale to a great show. 😊 I love the little details too. A bunch of the cool easter eggs in the finale: - The Believe sign at the end that Nate used gold paint to seam back together was a call back to the psychic talking about Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing something broken with gold to create something more beautiful that honors the past. - The song "Father and Son" by Cat Stevens that played during the final montage also appeared on Addie's channel at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 during Yondu's funeral. (Which is another tear jerker scene. 🥹) - Jamie switched his hat at the end from "ICON" to "I, COG", showing he's fully embraced he's not the solo star of the team but an important part of the whole machine's function. Also the beer that Jamie and Roy drink is the same brand that Jamie endorsed in the first season ("I can hold it like a baby, a beer-by!"). And of course Jamie kept the piece of the Believe sign in his now well-worn copy of The Beautiful and Damned that Ted gave him way back in season 1 that he initially threw in the trash (but obviously got back or got himself a new copy) - The actress who plays the little girl that's the daughter of Rebecca's pilot sweetheart also played "little girl Rebecca" in the mirror when she was looking at herself trying to make herself big before meeting all the soccer owners a few episodes earlier. - That the team sung So Long, Farewell from Sound of Music was partly because Roy is such a huge Julie Andrews fan. It's also why he was mouthing the words to the song. 😄 - Rebecca is wearing the same outfit at the airport when Ted leaves that she wore in the first episode when she met Ted. - In the montage, when Roy is the coach setting up his office, he puts up the drawing of breasts that his niece drew a while back but covers them up in black tape like Ted covered up the picture of Keeley way back in the first episode of the show. - In the final scene in the bar, it ends with Mae straightening a picture of Geronimo, which is a callback to the series finale of Cheers where Sam straightens up the same picture. (This may also be a nod to the fact that Jason Sudeikis is the nephew of actor George Wendt who played Norm on Cheers.)

Thanks so much, Addie (and just Thank You 😉)! I’m sad to see the Lasso reactions have to pause while we all wait for S4 and hope they have figured out how to continue the story after delivering what I think was such a satisfactory finale but it’s been a wonderful and cathartic ride.

Ok, now that I’ve watched your entire reaction to the finale and not just the musical number (I couldn’t wait 😆) I’m so happy you enjoyed the series as much as I thought you would. I said at the beginning knowing you based off your reactions to other things that this would become an all time favorite show of yours. And I 100% agree that I don’t understand the criticism of season 3. Thank you for joining me and all of us rewatching this phenomenal show.

So I've watched this finale probably at least ten times, and this is literally the first time I noticed that Keeley changed the name of her company to KBPR... and I think you're absolutely right, she's made Barbara her partner in the firm.

My main gripe about season 3 was how much they dumped on Keely throughout the season. She starts out dumped by Roy, then Shandy turns out to be awful, and then Jack also turns out to be awful, she loses the PR firm, then winds up working for Rebecca again. But I guess Barbara turned out to be alright, although we didn't start off liking her. And I'm kind of lukewarm on the Nate redemption arc. I wish we'd seen him tell off Rupert when he quit West Ham and I think he shoulda apologized to Ted earlier. But overall, I really enjoyed season 3. It's mostly just little nitpicky stuff. I really like that Rebecca ran into that Dutch guy again. And it was definitely time for Ted to come home. He can't raise a son in Kansas from England. I read that season 4 is going to be about Ted coaching the Richmond women's team. Can't wait for that.

Man this was truly my comfort show with my favorite reactor - will definitely be rewatching them later!! Thank you so much Addie for doing these and always putting your heart on your sleeve.

Goodpath

You made this re-watch a joy. Thank you.

Finally finished up the 3rd season. This show is freakin’ great! I also really enjoyed your reactions too Addie Not sure why I waited so long to watch this show. Of course, it’s super funny. But what really stands out to me is the heart this show has! And everyone of the characters is so great! Except maybe Rupert 😊 I guess one of the benefits of sleeping on this show so long is I don’t have to wait too long for season 4! Looks like the first episode is scheduled for August! Can’t wait!

Ted Lasso Season 4 just started :D
