Thank you all for submitting your recommendations yesterday! This is obviously not every single recommendation, but here are a few of the movies to get us kicked off! I'm going to go ahead and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) and The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) this December, so be on the lookout for those reactions. Help me choose another holiday (or holiday-adjacent) movie to watch next!

Ahhh The Family Man is one of my absolute favourites that so many people haven’t seen!

Chris

The Holdovers is so underrated

The Dude Abides

My 3 must see movies every Christmas are Bad Santa, Krampus, and now Violent Night. So well done. I own them on Blu-ray just to be sure I can watch since streamers love to drop them right around the holidays

Alex Tan

Happy Wednesday, Addie. All are great choices but since Stranger Things 5 is out now, my votes go for Violent Night (2022).

Randee Carreno

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 All great choices for the first holiday movie poll. "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" got my vote. With "Christmas with the Kranks" as my second choice. Have a great day today! 😊

Matt

Miracle on 34th street is one my all time faves but I think KKBB would make for better commentary.

Doug

I’m going with The Holdovers and Miracle on 34th Street. 👍 The Holdovers is a great movie, and Miracle on 34th Street is a classic one.

Addie is gonna love Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Rey

Its shocking how often it's left out of Christmas movies discussions

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang beating out 34th Street would restore my faith in humanity.

Doug

Yeah, it’s 97% on Rotten Tomatoes but only got $46 million at the box office, it definitely deserved a wider audience than it had. (I guess technically that makes it under appreciated versus underrated? That would be a debate Giamatti’s character in the film might get behind. 😉)

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Addie!

Flounder

I’m still maintaining that THE REF is the best dysfunctional Christmas movie ever. I really, really hope you watch it this season.

Kyle Brandon Sanger

I'm a little disappointed that 'Krampus' didn't make the poll. Maybe next week or the week after.

ButtercupsTrueLove

I went into "The Holdovers" not knowing what to expect from the premise of (bleep - not an action film) but it turned out to be rich in so many ways. I can't recommend "The Holdovers" enough for its characters and genuine emotions.

HaikenEdge

Red One is so horrifically had.

JAKH

Three cheers for David Harbour!

Jeff I.

Yeah, KKBB would make for a much better reaction, I think.

Ideas for a Christmas-Adjacent Poll (at least one Christmas scene and/or set during winter holidays) • The War of the Roses (1989) • Donnie Brasco (1997) • Running Scared (1986) • Eastern Promises (2007) • Funny Farm (1988) • We’re No Angels (1954) • The Mothman Prophecies (2002) • Lonesome Jim (2005) • Frozen River (2008)
