Happy Monday, Addie. It's time to Kick-Ass (2010) today.

Franco V.

Hi Addie. I was waiting for your reaction. I haven't seen this movie for a while. It'll be fun to rewatch it.

Robert da Spruce

Fun flick! Looking forward to checking out your reaction Addie!

Steve SG-1

You get 2 Quicksilvers for the price of one!

Randee Carreno

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 This is such a fun movie. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Kevin Timmins

I love this movie, and I'm glad you enjoyed it Addie!

Adrian Duenas

I think this was my introduction to Choë Grace Moretz. She was only 13 playing Hit-Girl omg

Billy Dancel

So with just a dollar difference I ended up buying the movie. This was bonkers!!! A great way to start the week and the new year!

Luis Fernandez

Fun movie! The song playing in the final act when Hit Girl enters Frank's lair is written by Ennio Morricone. Give it another listen Addie, and file it away in your brain for later because at some point in your reaction journey you'll watch the movie it was written for. The song playing when Hit Girl makes her first appearance is The Dickies covering the theme to the kid's show Banana Splits (The Tra-La-La Song). Fun fact: Liz Phair also did a cover of this song.

Chris Gentry

Another good Aaron Taylor Johnson movie is Bullet Train. Stacked cast and it's lots of fun!

Doug

Lol, the other similarity with Shazam is Mark Strong was the bad guy in that movie too. 😄 On a total tangent I love the use of the song "In the House - In a Heartbeat" in the scene when Big Daddy destroys the warehouse. (It's a song from 28 Days Later that plays in a scene where, like in this movie, things take a sudden turn for the worse really quickly!)

Rob M

You also used your karate chops quite a bit in The Shining. 😂

Robert da Spruce

I’m just here to see Addie say “Big Daddy” 😉 It does feel weird to say 😄 Fun reaction Addie! This movie is wild! There is a Kickass 2 FYI

i adore this movie, im glad you enjoyed it too, and yea its wild going into this blind which is why im so glad you did haha thats how i went into it when i saw it way back when, i loved rewatching this again so thank you for giving me a reason to do so, its also nice to see it now im older and can recognize the message of the film, especially these days. Sure its a fun movie as is, but i also love the theme, and whats cool is even before i saw all the extra things pointing to it, i got the theme as a kid but not the full scope of it, i got the one aspect, that anyone can be that hero if they just try and help but i missed the second part, "with no power comes no responsibility, except thats not true" This movie does a great job at showing how often and how easy it is to look the other way, it goes out of it way to show how many times random people didnt help despite being in a position to do so, from the guy in the window while they're getting mugged, to the guy who chooses to film Kick-ass fighting instead of calling the police like Kick-ass asked him to, even the guy who hits Kick-ass with his car, he just drives away. it puts out there the idea that because of all this, all it took for someone to be considered a "superhero" was just to not look the other way, to intervene, and doing so went viral, because it was such an out there concept that simply doing so made you a hero. the movie around that idea is great too haha, and yea Hit-Girl definitely gave me whiplash my first time watching too haha The music in this movie is amazing too, so many moment were made even better coz of the music, but especially the burning scene, the music playing is actually a theme from another movie that i love, "Sunshine", it shared the same composer, John Murphy, and the director felt like it fit the scene so well they used it. (Adagio in D Minor is the track name by the way, and its one of my favourites, i freaked out in the cinema when i realized it was playing in the scene haha) the movie also uses "In the House, In a Heartbeat" (also Murphy's score) from 28 Days Later for the warehouse fight scene. Normally i dont think id be for reusing scores as its part of the core of the movie imo, but honestly they both fit so well i cant imagine anything else, and i imagine thats how it happend too haha. sorry for the mega ramble lol anyway, thanks for the awesome reaction as always!

You definitely need to watch more Aaron Taylor Johnson movies, Bullet Train is one of his i highly recommend.

Can anyone explain why the cut reactions on YouTube have captions but the full length reactions never have captions??

What a fun, ridiculous movie. This was my first exposure to Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chloë Grace Moretz and they're both AMAZING actors. Most of the story of the film is actually very close to the original comicbook, except for some parts of the ending and the "moral". The comic is a lot more mean-spirited: You -- the person reading the comic -- are a loser. You're pathetic. It's not noble to want to be a superhero, it's a fantasy because you can't handle how lame you are in life. Big Daddy wasn't a cop who was framed by a crime boss and is now seeking revenge, he was a dissatisfied man who kidnapped his own daughter and CLAIMED that was his backstory to make it seem cool (and told her the same fake story). He financed the operation by selling his comicbook collection, and he brainwashed his daughter into a nearly-sociopathic killer who had no problem killing dozens of people in their quest for "revenge" (against a random crime lord that Big Daddy picked out of the news). When Dave tells Katie that he's not gay, she (justifiably) is furious at the deception. Instead of falling in love with Dave, she has her boyfriend beat him up, and mocks Dave by sending him pictures of her and her boyfriend having sex (And Dave shamefully masturbates to those pictures). Like I said, it's much more mean-spirited.

Because you are supposed to watch along with your own copy, and can turn on subtitles or captions using your own settings. The YouTube Edits presents portions of the movie in the video, so it includes the captions for those scenes.

Alex Tan

BTW, my girlfriend share the exact same birthday as Chloë Grace Moretz (Hit-Girl).

Joe Blankenship

I'm glad Addie picked up on 2 Quicksilvers.

Whiskey Sal

I mean Addie's captions. Youtube has CC available for the cut reactions but not for the full ones.

John A

Super (2009) was a lot like this type of "superhero" movie but way better. It even stars Dwight Shrute! Hope you watch that some day

Kevin Timmins

It's worth noting that sometimes YouTube mutes portions of the reaction video, which the reactors don't necessarily control. So the captions can be useful in that respect. Addie's YouTube cut reaction for Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring has that problem, at the beginning.

Whiskey Sal

Yeah see I'm partially deaf, so I rely on captions to tell me what Addie's saying.

Addie Counts

YouTube automatically generates the captions on the videos. I'm not sure why they don't generate on the full length reactions (my guess is either that the videos are too long or it's because the video is unlisted). I would have to look into how to add captions to these videos.

Whiskey Sal

I see. Thanks for replying!

Underrated movie can’t wait for a second one

Robingrlwonder

have you thought about seeing the second one?
