I haven’t seen this one either. So I’m looking forward to watching along with you Addie!

So glad Jessie Buckley took home the Oscar for this performance. I’ll never look at a Hamlet production the same way again

If you enjoyed this movie I recommend "Shakespeare in love". It's about the making of Romeo and Juliet.

In a poetic way, the ending was the fulfillment of a vision that Agnes has of her son. Remember before his death that she has a vision of him acting in his father's play? The stage actor playing Hamlet actually fulfills it, because the stage actor is played by Noah Jupe, while Noah's real-life younger brother Jacobi Jupe played the son Hamnet. Meta-level casting right there! One of the 8 Oscar nominations this film got was the newly introduced category of Best Casting, with casting director Nina Gold getting the nomination in that category for this film. Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes were both nominated as producers in the Best Picture category, as was Chloe Zhao for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. This film ultimately won Best Actress for Jessie Buckley.

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 This is one of those movies that I've heard so much about, but hadn't gotten around to seeing it until now. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today, and a great weekend! 😊

The ending floored me 😭

Ideas for a Frat Pack comedy poll • Bottle Rocket (1996) • The Cable Guy (1996) • Permanent Midnight (1998) • Meet the Parents (2000) • The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) • Zoolander (2001) • Orange County (2002) • Old School (2003) • Starsky & Hutch (2004) • Blades of Glory (2007)

Jessie Buckley gave a great speech at the Oscars…

Her win made the director Chloe Zhao the first woman ever to direct 2 Best Actress Oscar winning performances (Frances McDormand won her 3rd Best Actress Oscar for NOMADLAND, which also got Zhao the Best Director Oscar). There are multiple directors who have directed multiple Best Actress winners (William Wyler, Yorgos Lanthimos recently etc.), but Zhao is the first female director to do this.

Nice, didn’t know that; what was also great for Frances McDormand about Nomadland was that she earned two Oscars for it (since she was a producer and it won Best Picture) which gave her a total of four 🏆

Unfortunately I didn't like anything in this film but Chloe Zhao's direction (at times). I hope you'll react to Sentimental Value, because it is truly beautiful. Renate Reinsve deserved the Oscar far more than Jessie Buckley.

Here is another even cooler fun fact: Since Shakespeare's wife is known historically as Anne Hathaway, this means that the namesake actress Anne Hathaway is the first (and so far only) person in Oscars history to both win an Oscar herself and share the same first and last name as a different person whose portrayal in film wins another actress an Oscar.

I was speechless at the end. Mainly because I was bawling my eyes out. I don't remember the last time I saw anything related to Hamlet but it was refreshed as soon as he stood by the river and he said, "To be, or not to be" This gives me a question or two for the next AMA

"I see you grown" certainly takes on a whole new meaning when you learn that the boy who played Hamnet and the young man who played Hamlet are brothers irl
