Does Christmas come once a year? Not when James Bond is around 😉

Alex Tan

Happy Wednesday, Addie. This is it, The World Is Not Enough (1999) is your PENULTIMATE James Bond movie. See you soon for Die Another Day (2002).

This was Desmond Llewelyn's final appearance as Q, and his final film overall. Despite not intending to retire from the role originally, Desmond died in a car crash in December 1999 (less than a month after this film's release) at age 85.

Move over Majesty’s, THIS is the official Christmas one.

Yeah it's interesting that Desmond (Q) died just after this film's release, yet the final Q scene is played as a finale of sorts (in writing, score, and cinematography). I wonder if the plan was actually for Desmond to retire from the role in this film (hence the introduction of 'R'). Kind of feels like an unfortunate case of serendipity.

Happy "James Bond" Wednesday, Addie! 😊 I remember only bits and pieces of this one. So it's pretty much a first time watch for me as well. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Sophie Marceau... (le sigh) Garbage does the title track for this one. The video is worth checking out.

It was cool having Robert Carlyle (Renard) in this one, he's a good bad guy. 😊 (He's been in quite a few things, but personally I really liked him in Once Upon a Time as the morally questionable Rumplestiltskin and in Stargate: Universe as the morally questionable Dr Rush.)

RIP Desmond. Was captured trying to get to Dunkirk in WWII. He got got escaping and tunneling so they sent him to a more secure prison in Colditz Castle where the put the incorrigible officers who constantly tried to escape. I think the war took a toll as he always looked older than he was. Unfortunately he died from a result of a car crash.

Elektra was played by Sophie Marceau. Who you may recognize from Braveheart. Where she played the Princess of Wales RIP to Q ☹️ As others have mentioned, he passed away after the release of the film

The title of this one is a translation of the latin "Orbis non sufficit", which is the motto of Bond's family and is on his coat of arms (First seen in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"). it was also the motto of the real-life Sir Thomas Bond, from the seventeenth century, who is said to be an ancestor of the character.
