Ooh is this a first watch for you?

Happy Monday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed rewatching Up (2009). I did see this movie in 3D with my family when it first came out and we all enjoyed it. And yes, the first 11 minutes are a REAL tearjerker (although it's hard for me to cry during sad scenes in movies these days). BTW, I'm sending you a virtual hug.

Might be the saddest 10 minute opening in film 😢 You feel like you spent a lifetime with Ellie and Carl in a matter of minutes. Most of it without dialogue. Which is a testament to the talented people who made the film On a completely different topic. I know you’re constantly getting recommendations, but I have another My timeline has been filled with posts talking about a show named Ride or Die on Amazon. Starring Hannah Waddingham (aka Rebecca on Ted Lasso) and Octavia Spencer So I decided to take a look. I’m only halfway through the 8 episode miniseries, but I’m really enjoying it! I know you’re smack dab in the middle of Breaking Bad. But I think you would enjoy it Addie. Even if it’s not for the channel, you may want to check it out if you’re looking for something to watch Looking forward to your Up reaction! Have a great week!

Controversial opinion: the opening of this movie is not a tragic story but rather a beautiful montage of two soulmates living their lives together with the inevitable death of one before the other. So many people spend their entire lives looking for the right person and these two found each other when they were barely out of diapers. They spent their lives together in peace and happiness which seems normal to some of us but plenty of others don’t get that due to circumstances outside of their control. Yes the fact that they were unable to have kids or that they never went on their trip is sad but life rarely works out how we want it to. And of course it was sad that she died before him leaving him alone but like I said that is just inevitable for any relationship that lasts that long.

I just finished Ride or Die, minor complaints but overall I loved it 🥰

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 This is easily one of my favorite Disney/Pixar movies. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening with lots of tissues on hand. Have a great day today! 😊

that opening sequence is one of the best introductions for any movie I’ve ever seen, animated or live-action…for me it’s timeless

You'll be happy to know that this film was one of only 3 animated films to ever be nominated for the Best Picture category at the Oscars (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1991) and TOY STORY 3 (2010) being the other 2). It won 2: Best Original Score (Michael Giacchino) and Best Animated Feature.

Great to hear! I’m hoping to finish up the series this week Although, I could be persuaded to wait if Addie were to suddenly announce she’s going to react to it 😉

Nothing wrong with crying all the way through Addie! I’ve yet to reach the end of Up without shedding a single tear. You can also hear Michael Giacchino’s “Married Life” on Main Street in Disneyland. Why Disney insists on making me cry at the front gate is beyond me 😭

Billy Dancel

Bob Peterson who voiced Dug was at a summer camp and met a kid who told him, “I just met you and I love you.”

I love this movie, it's #5 in my Flickchart list of favorite films of all time. 🙂 Not only is the beginning Married Life montage one of the best openings of any movie ever made, but then that sets the emotional stage for scenes much later such as finding the photos in the scrapbook that wouldn't have the same impact otherwise. Not to mention the metaphors like how Carl literally and figuratively has to let go of all the baggage from his old life with Ellie in order to finally be free to soar on a new adventure, and how the color schemes often match Carl's emotional mood at the time (e.g. dark silhouettes when he's making the sad final march to bring the house to the falls, drab grays in the house when he's feeling alone, bright colors when he's excited later) Also, on a tangent, on the rewatch just now I noticed the little touch in the end credits New Adventure Book that alongside some of the pictures of Carl and Russell and Dug having adventures they also pinned corresponding Wilderness Explorer badges (e.g. next to the picture of Russell helping Carl cross the street they taped on a badge with an icon of a stick figure being helped in a crosswalk, and when they are fishing there's a fishing badge, etc). It's a neat little touch. 😊 P.S. And if you want more of these characters, they made some cute animated shorts under the label Dug Days that you can find on Disney+ that follow Dug's short adventures in his new life with Carl.

Blind Entertainment

Nothing wrong with crying throughout the whole movie. Honestly I’d be a bit odd if you didn’t cry thoughts the movie. Absolutely love this movie! However it isn’t great for someone scared of heights, even if it’s an animated film. Even though I’ve seen it many times, and know the outcomes I still get stressed with some of the hight scenes.

Shooter The Emu With A Gun

I don't think people in general think of it as a tragic story. It is a story of life and right up until Ellie's passing, with exception to the news of being unable to have children, every scene is one of happiness, smiling faces and an overall happy life.
