Happy Wednesday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Young Frankenstein (1974) and I'm also glad that you have finally watched a movie on DVD for the channel. For any future movie that we suggest to you that's impossible to stream, I do hope that you watched it on DVD.

Adrian Duenas

Is this the start of Addie’s physical media collection? Once you buy one DVD there’s no turning back…

Doug

Nice, except I don't have a DvD player. That licensing hell the movie is stuck in is a pain!

Milton Reduxed

Anyone have a Cocoon bluray to send to Addie?

AJ

Woohoo, °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ ̰ ̰𝓐̰𝓭̰𝓭̰𝓲̰𝓮̰ ̰ °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・, Ahh finally time enough at last.. to enjoy a classic. DVD's are great, still have a ton, including this one. However, plenty of places to watch stuff free online. Some safer than others but if it's a stream and you have an Ad Blocking extension for your web browser like Ublock, decent antivirus that has a good firewall then it's reasonably safe. One so called fairly safe place is Archive.org here is one upload link of this very movie: https://archive.org/details/young.-frankenstein.-1974.1080p.-brrip.x-264.-yify-62553139-alq-13 Best way is to go to the site, search what you want to see and VOILÀ, see which ones look good and enjoy. Hope this helps.. some of you out there and you as well °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ ̰ ̰𝓐̰𝓭̰𝓭̰𝓲̰𝓮̰ ̰ °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・! Though, since I've not seen you respond to anyone's post and I'll send this as a DM in case you miss this. I know other creators I support found this site helpful, especially for hard to find movies!

AJ

No dvd is necessary, see my post and link above. ☝🏽

Baldemort

crap, ill have to pirate a copy to watch this. I cant find it anywhere to stream. For future reactions, can we make sure movies are widely avaliable to stream? I remember the Abyss had this issue to for a long time until they remastered the movie recently. Either way, im happy to watch this when I can. ❤️

I've been building a DVD collection for more than a decade now, even when Netflix became a thing. It's been fun ever since.

Billy Dancel

I’m probably going to have to do the same.

AJ

Use the link in my post, I'm using it as I'm too lazy to go through my DVD's to find it!

AJ

Perhaps the link in my post will help you out.

Adrian Duenas

Nice, I’ve gone from VHS to DVD to blu-rays and 4K. Luckily I found a cheap blu-ray copy of this a few years back

Jose Almeida

Hey Addie, if you still have the receipt of the DVD and player, it should be tax deductible!

Doug

P.S. My vote for the next Mel Brooks movie would definitely be The Producers. (The Broadway show was also fantastic!)

AJ

Well °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ ̰ ̰𝓐̰𝓭̰𝓭̰𝓲̰𝓮̰ ̰ °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・, I've always enjoyed History of the World Part I, but another fun one was Life Stinks. Always put a smile on my face and not too over the top for a Mel Brooks movie. You'd get a kick out of them I'm sure.

Chris

There Young Frankenstein reaction. There me.

This movie was actually Gene Wilders' Brainchild and he worked on getting it developed for a number of years before teaming up with Mel Brooks to actually get it done. That accounts for the more even pacing and subtler, lower key humor in places as opposed to Blazing Saddles style insanity as Mel Brooks was sort of the junior partner in this venture.

Luis Fernandez

You've survived Young Frankenstein, so I highly recommend you take consider Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935) for Halloween. They are great movies and honestly on the same scariness level (or maybe 5% scarier since they lack the comedy aspects). And BoF is one of my favorite films ever so I think double-feature is the way to go!

Luis Fernandez

As for your next Mel Brooks film, I'm voting History of the World. Love that movie! As an aside, they recently did a History of the World series that was terrible, so I'm not sure how involved Mel actually is in the new stuff. I'm not going to let myself get excited about the next Spaceballs until I hear more.

Norman

Teri Garr played Phoebe's mom on Friends!

Tim Heron

I know Addie watched "The Birds" recently, and "North by Northwest" is in the pipeline, but if she can squeeze in "Vertigo," that would really help her understand jokes in "High Anxiety." And if she wants to watch "The Producers," she should watch the 1968 original first, then decide if she wants to watch the 2005 musical adaptation.

Daniel Goldberg

The Producers is a must. Mel Brooks’ first film, I believe, and a very early role for Gene Wilder. I’ve also always liked Silent Movie, but I may be in the minority for that. I found High Anxiety a lot of fun as well, but it helps to be familiar with Hitchcock to fully appreciate that one. Young Frankenstein is available for streaming at Internet Archive.

I just happened to see it on FXM (fox movies, I think). So if you have access to it you might get lucky.
