Lord Byron

Ready Player One or The Terminal we’re my favorites.

Rich

As usual there's a lot of good choices. But I have to go with Ready Player One

Allan Molina

How bout Lincoln no one ever reacts to that movie

Nathan Swapp

I love Ready Player One. I didn't think I would but it's now one of my go-to have fun movies.

Fawks

A lot of top tier selections with one glaring outlier. ;)

Randee Carreno

Happy Thursday, Addie! 😊 All of these are such great Steven Spielberg directed films. It was so hard to choose which one to vote on. I ended up voting on "Minority Report" since it's been a long time since I've seen that one. Any one of those movies are going to be great. Have a great day today! 😊

Patrick Egan

Multiple good choices on this poll! Close Encounters is an absolute classic, even if it doesn't win this poll it's one you should get to at some point. Minority Report is really good and very thought-provoking. I haven't seen Catch Me If You Can or The Terminal, so I can't comment on them. War Of The Worlds is pretty good, but the 1953 version has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. There's even a small reference to it in Ready Player One, which is definitely a must-watch. It's one of the rare adaptations where I think I like the movie even more than the book it was based on :)

Joseph Blankenship

I would love to see a minority report reaction as it's a Cruise and Spielberg film that is often forgotten.

Chip MC

“Catch Me If You Can”… i mean it’s Leo and Spielberg.

Alex Tan

Happy Thursday, Addie. All are great choices but Minority Report (2002) & War of the Worlds (2005) would make a great Tom Cruise/Steven Spielberg Double Feature. I also suggest Catch Me if You Can (2002) & The Terminal for a Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg Double Feature. I'm also open for Ready Player One (2018). #MoreStevenSpielbergForAddieCounts

Allan Molina

Yea couldn't find a single munich reaction either

Chris

I'd go with Catch Me If You Can, I bet you'd like a lot

Steve J

I've been wanting to rewatch catch me if you can recently, good timing :)

Onno Smits

I absolutely love The Terminal. It's not very well known in the US, but in my country it was often rerun on TV. Great story based on real events!

Tony Sanson

Close Encounters is an absolute classic that shouldn't be missed, even if it doesn't win this poll you should definitely put it on the list. Catch Me If You Can is also a great choice and a fun watch.

Onno Smits

Maybe, I thought it may have to do with the non-American protagonist and the very American antagonist, and the... "loaded" political message regarding immigration policies. Hard to market domestically, despite its quaint/heartfelt feelgood vibes.

Luis Fernandez

Hi Addie,- Would you consider tagging future polls with "poll" or something similar? Might be nice to have a convenient way to look back at previous polls as a group.

Alex Tan

I would love to see Addie watch Munich (2005) soon. It also co-stars Daniel Craig.

Getoff Mylawn

I thought RP1 was a fine popcorn movie but not exceptional. However, its almost always top 2 in polls so maybe I need to watch it again. Its a damn shame The Terminal is doing so poorly, THAT was an exceptional movie! Between the incredible true story and Tom Hanks amazing acting, it would have been great to see Addie react to it.

Chip MC

Ready Player One is the outlier for me. It’s newer and popular (and i enjoyed it) but definitely not as good or emotionally captivating as the other choices.

Chip MC

Spielberg, (along with Scorsese and Tarantino) are filmmakers whose entire filmography should be watched, as far as American cinema goes.

Fawks

I've always wondered how far the studio pushed Spielberg and threw money at him to not just slap his name on the movie but slap his name on the directing credit for Ready Player One. He's quoted as saying "Ready Player One is a movie, not a film". I think without him having a directing credit, the flick would likely be viewed for what it is. Which is a vehicle with just enough story structure to allow for infinite references to classic films. I know this is a hot take but as an MCU fan living for the multiversal barrage of references to early 2000s movies, I feel I'm being objective with my assessment. I know there's no true film substance there either but I love it. Seeing the DeLorean and a T-rex in the same frame racing each other or whatever isn't something that feels earned or purposeful though.

Richard Maurer

Ready Player 1 is probably the worst film on this list. It's just a overwhelming number of fan service cameos wrapped around a story - not a good story, or a bad story, just a story.

Alex Tan

I think I figured out a potential reason why RP1 is winning the poll, but I'm not revealing it to prevent spoilers.

Creamish

The highest voted movie here is the worst one, and the 2nd place is the best! XD

LightsCameraJake

Ready player 1 is a great movie if you are a gamer and I'm not sure Addie would enjoy this movie as much since she won't understand half of the cameos and nods to gaming fan service this movie provides. Nobody watched RP1 and says "wow good story." For Addie sake, I didn't vote for this movie becsuse she isn't a gamer and quite frankly, there are better movies in this list. Sadly people are voting for their own nostalgia and not what addie may like in this case. Hope she likes it though. I just won't be shocked If she lacks reactions or has confused looks, to moments because she may not understand references/easter eggs and call backs to what makes this movie amazing. Edit: Just want to clarify, im very much looking forward to any Addie reaction no matter the movie. Her watching RP1 will still be a goood time.

Alex Tan

Agreed (with the movie references). And Addie did mention that she used to play Stardew Valley & Animal Crossing.

Ben

Some good fims on here, catch me if you can is the absolute stand out for me, such a good film that grabbed my attention from the start and held it all the way through

Pokeysaurus

I like to judge movies by what they try to be. RP1 didnt try to be a Film, and I think you have to give it a lot of credit for absolutely nailing what it was going for.

Richard Maurer

RP1 is a film, no matter what it was trying to be. And what it tried didn't work for me.
