Happy Friday, Addie. I'm so glad that you're finally starting She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. You're gonna love this show, just as my girlfriend & I did when it first came out. The mid-credits scene of this episode where Jennifer Walters says "CAPTAIN AMERICA FU--!" was so hilarious.

Speaking of Mark Ruffalo, I also suggest Windtalkers (2002), directed by John Woo. #MoreMarkRuffaloForAddieCounts

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 There have been a lot of mixed reactions for this show. But for the most part I really enjoyed it. When I first heard about this show I didn't know anything about the character of Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk other than she's Bruce Banner's cousin. This episode takes place around the time of "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings". Because if you remember the post-credit scene with Bruce Banner and Captain Marvel he was in human form. And this episode explained how he was able to go back to being just Bruce. According to the comics, it was She-Hulk that was the first Marvel character to break the fourth wall. I love the scenes with Bruce teaching Jen how to be a Hulk.

It’s the funniest thing in the MCU and I love it.

Morning Addie! Tatiana Maslany (who plays Jennifer Walters) also played several roles in the series "Orphan Black". That was a really good series that shows off just how good an actor she is. Probably not the best for a reaction, but it would be worth checking out on your own.

By the time this show came out, Marvel fatigue was really starting to set in (for a lot of others, not me lol), so the show got trashed by the stereotypical internet trolls. You had a new character, a female lead, and a show that's tonally different from the rest of the MCU. There's always been funny bits, but She-Hulk was billed as a 30-minute courtroom comedy and they leaned into that, and the "internet" did not like change. So, yeah. Expect a different tone with this show, as it also matches her comic runs. The She-Hulk comic has never taken itself seriously, and Jennifer regularly breaks the fourth-wall (and then some), even more so than Deadpool.

I really like the character of Jen Walters/She-Hulk, and a fair number of the side characters in this show. I did find the overall story arch to be really poorly written though, and weirdly specifically misandristic from time to time. It'll be fun to revisit with you though! Especially if you keep having such a fun-loving attitude throughout. 👍

Heyyy, it’s a Friday evening with a She-Hulk mini marathon!! I can’t wait! Gonna order a Meatball sub and pop some popcorn, all I need is some Gatorade to wash it down!

Alex Tan

...and speaking of Michel Gondry, who directed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), I'll also add The Green Hornet (2011).

Aaaaaaand now I really want a meatball sub. Thanks Billy!

I just sat down with the sub and saw this! 😂

Yeah this show is very different, but I really like a lot of it. So as you've noticed by now, She-Hulk is very much like Deadpool... both of them are fourth wall breaking characters. In the comics, She-Hulk has also spoken right to the readers, and even jumped out of the comic panels themselves to speak to the writers. It's all very self aware, and I think She-Hulk was actually the original fourth wall breaker, before Deadpool. This show clearly deals with things very comedically, but there's some really awesome subtext with her being a laywer, and as you have also seen by now, dealing with the Law for super powered people. There is a ton of really cool story lines that come from that in the comics, that I really want to see explored in the future. The Captain America being a virgin was so hilarious. That is easily one of my favorite end credit scenes. And actually it's hinted at (and now confirmed) that we saw the woman Steve lost his virginity to. When he was on his USO tour, being on stage as the symbol of America before he actually went to rescue Bucky in the first movie, there was a woman who walked up to him and said hello to him as he was signing papers. It's so cool that they make use of small little moments like that from years ago and bring them back saying Steve lost his virginity to someone in the 40s 🤣 Can't wait to see the rest of the show with you Addie!

I grew up 40 miles away from her😊

Awesome! I loved this show! Top Tier Marvel Comedy. I like the Guardians movies, but I feel like the humor in this show hit a little more consistently. Or maybe it's just a personal preference? Anyhoo. looking forward to these reactions!
