Happy Friday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Cast Away (2000). I'm definitely gonna watch this movie later, possibly as a palate cleanse after seeing A Haunting in Venice (2023) in IMAX with my girlfriend tonight or later on this weekend. I own Cast Away on DVD in both Widescreen (1.85:1) & Full Screen (1.33:1) formats and that's how I'm watching it. I also have the Wilson volleyball from the movie as well.

Speaking of Helen Hunt, I also suggest Twister (1996). #Twister1996ForAddieCounts

James Cain

🎶 Cast Away, Uh-Huh, Uh-Huh, I Like It

I'm also throwing in The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels & Demons (2009), and Inferno (2016), as well as A Man Called Otto (2022), all from Sony/Columbia Pictures. #MoreTomHanksForAddieCounts

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 This is one of my top favorite Tom Hanks movies. Definitely looking forward to watching this one later this evening. I very highly recommend Tom Hanks' very first movie, the 1984 "Splash". Have a great day today & weekend! 😊

Catch Me If You Can (2002), The Terminal (2004), Bridge of Spies (2016), and The Post (2017), all directed by Steven Spielberg.

I second Splash (1984). The uncensored version is now on Disney+. It's also the very first Disney movie under the Touchstone Pictures label, allowing Disney to attract the teenage and adult market.

Addie, love these fun facts but here is a cool one. Tom Hanks entire time on the island was all voice over becuase the audio of the waves and the wind were too much, so they filmed his scenes, and his lines, scrubbed all the audio and added the sound effects for the waves/wind and Tom Hanks had to voice over all his lines. It's incredible. Amazing skills and editing work.

...alongside Joe Versus the Volcano (1990), Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and You've Got Mail (1998), also with Meg Ryan.

Another great video Addie. What makes this special for me is it's the first one you've done that I also had never seen, so glad I finally got to it.

LOL Good one.

Haven't seen this in a while so I'm excited to give it a watch soon! Side note, anyone else feeling Kiss Kiss Bang Bang as one of the Holiday movies this year? Reunion with IronMan and who doesn’t love Val Kilmer! Edit: Perhaps it’s my setup but is Addie quieter in this? Or maybe he Movie on Amazon is just really loud.

Thank you for a heartfelt reaction to a wonderful film. I saw this at initial theatrical release and didn't expect that it was going to be a weepfest. I liked the quiet moment when the theme music played as Chuck took a contemplative look back at the island that both entrapped him and sustained him for over four years. I liked the whale that kept an 'eye' on Chuck when he was adrift on the open water, alerting him to Wilson's plight and the approach of the container ship. I like that Zemeckis left the ending for us to decide if Chuck chose the direction at the crossroads that leads back to Bettina's home and workshop. Bob Zemeckis has an earlier collaboration with Tom Hanks - "Forrest Gump" (1994) that I also like a lot. Zemeckis is a protege of Spielberg and has directed a number of my favorites, including the comedy "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" (1978) about a small group of teenagers from New Jersey who are trying desperately to get tickets to see The Beatles perform live at the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964.

Heyyy, it’s Fridayyy and we’re watching Cast Awayyy! What a great wayyy to celebrate my Birthdayyy! Right, enough of that. LOL. The fear of flying is real, but we still do it. The fear of the ocean is real, but we still go there. But the biggest fear we can ever face is being alone. Now, that is frightening. That’s why losing Wilson was sad. Chuck being found was like coming back from the “blip.” We know how hard that transition can be. ADDIE’S FILM EDIT. Chuck turns his car around and as he pulls up the drive, the dog runs up to him and as he touches his dog collar his tag reads, “Wilson.” Take care of yourself, Addie!! Go give Ollie a big hug!! I CAN’T WAIT FOR FIREFLY!!!!!

Ernesto Lopez

This movie was directed by the same director that made the back to the future trilogy. As expected he hits a home run here with a tragic yet optimistic for the future type feeling. Storyline is bar none one of the best ever told and the rewatch value on this film is incredible. Glad you enjoyed it :)

Happy Birthday, Billy. 🎉🎉

:) Addie!!! :) "Tom Hanks is [insert quote from Remo Williams] 'better than that!'" He's achieved "Him" status! My nephew - when he was small and would see someone he recognized would say: "Him!" lol

Daniel Goldberg

Is there no love for Captain Philips here?

Richard Higgs

You should really react to Joe Versus the Volcano with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, there might even be a little lost at sea action, and of course how can you not watch a movie with Abe Vigoda in it.

There is a lot of subtle clues that Kelly was cheating on Chuck with the dentist at the beginning of the film. Her being out and not answering his calls at the beginning, his tooth ache, the divorce papers, her being shocked when he gave her the ring, the scheduling so she would know he would be out of town, etc. Not that Kelly didn't love Chuck, but she was tired of him being away for work and she wasn't able to move forward in her life. Then him being castaway complicated things. Its never implicitly said but I feel Chuck figured it out at the end. Part of the reason the movie was called Cast Away and not Castaway. It was about him changing as a person and finding the implied "soulmate" at the end.
