Alex Tan

Hi Addie, how are you today? How's Jeremy and Ollie? Now that you have a Letterboxd account, will you add all of the movies that are on your recommendation list to your Letterboxd watchlist? What was the most intense movie that you watched on your channel, as of this Q&A? What are your top five movies you watched that CAME OUT in 2023? Came out as in the movie was released in 2023. You may reference your Letterboxd account for help and you can combine the movies you watched for the channel with movies you watched on your own. If I were to direct you in a rom-com, who would play your love interest? How well do you balance the types of content that you offer? I asked this because of some subscribers who felt that you were missing out on other movies that didn't involve sci-fi, fantasy, or superheroes, particularly with the high output of Marvel & Star Wars content. Despite being heavily drawn to them, are you still open to watching other movies besides sci-fi, fantasy or superhero realm as well? In your reaction to National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007), I noticed a new necklace. Is there a backstory to that and how does it compare to the "A" necklace? Speaking of National Treasure, where does National Treasure (2004) and its sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007), rank with all of the other Jerry Bruckheimer movies that you've seen? Other Bruckheimer movies you've watched so far are Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2, Top Gun (1986) & Top Gun: Maverick (2022), Remember The Titans (2000) and the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Did you know that National Treasure (2004) was shot in Super 35 format by Zooey Deschanel's father, Caleb? Will you react to Armageddon (1998) with Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler? It's produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Michael Bay. Will you react to Steven Spielberg's The Sugarland Express (1974) with Goldie Hawn? It's the very first movie to be shot with Panavision Panaflex film cameras. Will you react to Far and Away (1992) with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman? It's filmed for the first time in Panavision Super 70mm. Will you react to The Joy Luck Club (1993)? Will you react to more war movies?

Alex Tan

If you were to view the Trinity Test in Oppenheimer (2023), where would you view it from, the South Observation Point, the Distant Observation Point or the Base Camp? (The movie's interactive website has the exact locations of where the shelter areas of the test site was. https://www.oppenheimermovie.com/) Will you react to The Hunt for Red October (1990) with Sean Connery as Captain Marko Ramius & Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan. And afterwards, will you react to Patriot Games (1992) & Clear and Present Danger (1994), both with Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan? Are you still open to starting a P.O. box or are you still worried about opening up something that's snake related? In celebration of the studio's centennial this year, what is your favorite aspect ratio of the current Sony/Columbia Pictures logo? Flat (1.85:1): https://youtu.be/D6QLzln_yIo?feature=shared or Scope (2.39:1): https://youtu.be/Vk3JAq9yXzE?feature=shared Who is your favorite Muppet? Will you react to Patch Adams (1998) with Robin Williams? Will you react to The Replacement Killers (1998) with Chow Yun-Fat & Mira Sorvino? Will you react to Tears of the Sun (2003) with Bruce Willis? Will you react to Stuck on You with Matt Damon & Greg Kinnear? Will you react to Thunderbirds (2004) with Bill Paxton? Which t-shirts and sweaters do you think pair well with your "A" necklace? Are there any t-shirts and sweaters that you would like to wear with it in the future? Can we get a slideshow of your favorite winter outfits? Now that you've seen The Godfather (1972) & The Godfather: Part II (1974), will you react to The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone (2020)? It's a newly recut version of The Godfather: Part III (1990) that vindicates its status in the Godfather trilogy. Where does The Godfather: Part II (1974) & Rocky (1976) rank with the other Oscar-winning movies that you've watched that won the Academy Award for Best Picture?

Doug

Have you thought about doing any Top 10 list videos for the channel? Top 10 movies of all time or of a particular genre or time period, for instance?

Alex Tan

The "Oh No!" scenario: Oh No! You've been challenged to face your fear of snakes by watching the snake scenes from the Indiana Jones movies. Would you rather rewatch the snake pit in the Well of Souls from Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), the Coiled Wrigglies snake surprise dinner from Temple of Doom (1984), Young Indy falling into a crate of snakes on a circus train in Last Crusade (1989), Marion & Mutt pulling Indy out of the dry sand pit with a snake in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) or Indy, Reynaldo & Helena diving into the swarm of eels on the surface of the Aegean Sea in Dial of Destiny (2023)?

Alex Tan

Here's your first set of rapid fire questions of the new year 🔥🔥: Now that you've seen both movies, I'm gonna ask you again, Oppenheimer (2023) or Barbie (2023)? And which movie does Jeremy like more? Favorite highest-grossing Universal Pictures film of 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) or Oppenheimer (2023)? Favorite taste test, Ben & Jerry's vs. Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream or Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans? Live-action or animated movies, in general? Who would win in a fight, Maximus Decimus Meridius from Gladiator (2000) or Leonidas, King of Sparta from 300 (2006)? La La Land (2016) or Hacksaw Ridge (2016)? The Princess Diaries (2001) or Aquamarine (2006)? The A necklace or the butterfly necklace? Peaches or I'm Just Ken? Favorite actor named Tom, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks or Tom Holland? Realism or Escapism in movies? IMAX or Dolby Cinema? AMC Artisan Films or AMC Thrills & Chills? Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You by Frankie Valli or ily (i love you baby) by Surf Mesa featuring Emilee? Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65 or I'm Good (Blue) by David Guetta & Bebe Rexha?

Steve SG-1

Any thoughts on a car themed movie list?

L.Knight

Since Valentines day is around the corner I have to ask what is the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for you?

Alex Tan

I'm with you on this.

Butch Shomph

What Classic Movie Rabbit Hole would you love to go down in 2024?: Live Action Disney (1950's through 80's) - James Bond - Mel Brooks Comidies - 1940's and 50's Musicals.

Doug

Not so much a question but a couple of suggestions based on how much you liked Nolan (Interstellar, etc) and Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) - Memento is one of Nolan’s earlier movies and is a great mystery thriller with a very unusual backwards narrative style - Given how much you like Guardians, I definitely recommend both The Suicide Squad (not to be confused with Suicide Squad which isn’t Gunn and isn’t as good), and its follow-up short TV show Peacemaker. (Seriously, Peacemaker was waaay better than it had any right to be on paper!) P.S. Looking forward to Echo dropping tonight as well! 👍

Billy Dancel

Heyyy, it’s been a whole year that I’ve been a Patreon supporter! WooooHoooo! Congratulations on reaching 80K! Here we go. Last month’s AMA you said The New Mutants was as your least favorite. How about Starship Troopers? Which is worse? Since you haven’t seen any of the Godzilla or King Kong movies yet which creature do you think you would like more? Will 2024 be their year? What is the biggest difference between your channel from the first year to now? Thank you cut for your time. Take care of yourself, Addie! I hope we get to see Ollie!

Luis Fernandez

Addie mentioned that she hadn't planned on watching the second Godfather, and it was the comments that convinced her to watch it. She also mentioned that she's not planning on watching the third. In other words, she didn't find the first movie compelling enough to make her want to watch the second, and the first two combined failed to make her want to watch the third.

Luis Fernandez

How would you describe your preferences when it comes to comedies? What would you say are your top 3 favorite comedies, and which 3 comedies sound unappealing to you?

Luis Fernandez

This month's movie recs are 90's comedies that are pretty funny and generally unoffensive: Joe vs the Volcano (1990), Doc Hollywood (1991), My Cousin Vinny (1992), and Down Periscope (1996) Bonus: Major League (1989), which was directed by David Ward, who also did Down Periscope.

Luis Fernandez

It isn't that I don't want her to finish this particular series (or any series), I just think that at some point movies have to sell themselves. And it appears that these movies have failed to do so. I don't love the third movie but I don't hate it either. But there are plenty of great movies out there for her to explore, so I don't see the need to linger on a series that hasn't sold itself.

David hess

Hey addie have you ever seen movie ghost ship?

Ghostmaker

What has been your favorite film/series you have watched?

Luis Fernandez

Given the state of the Jedi with Rey in charge, I'll accept being a Sith. (There I go being negative again)

Alex Tan

I'm also holding out for Addie to go down a rabbit hole of New Hollywood era movies like Bonnie and Clyde (1967), The Graduate (1967), Easy Rider (1969), The French Connection (1971), Mean Streets (1973), Serpico (1973), Chinatown (1974), Dog Day Afternoon (1975), Taxi Driver (1976), Sorcerer (1977) & The Deer Hunter (1978). UPDATE: And also Klute (1971) & Deliverance (1972).

Randolph Tirazona

Well having growing up watching the Godfather series and waiting and waiting and waiting... for part 3 the Really, Really, Really loving it I'll add this, this is from the wiki: "Although the film was not nearly as acclaimed as the previous two installments, the film was nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Andy García), Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration (Dean Tavoularis, Gary Fettis), and Best Music, Song (for Carmine Coppola and John Bettis for "Promise Me You'll Remember")." "The film was also nominated for seven Golden Globe Awards..." I'll also add that to even get nominated for either puts the film at a certain level.

Randolph Tirazona

Addie?!? So for 2023 what are some of you're favorite movies/shows you've seen?!?

phillip giroux

Why can't I ever spell restoraunt correctly?

Ernesto Lopez

Im not sure if you’ve been asked this before but what kind of music do you listen to and what are some of your favorite singers?

Mr. Writhms

Have you watched any martial arts movies? If not, would you be willing to bring some to the channel? I think Donnie Yen in “Ip Man” (2008) would be a good one for you to start with. If you like it, perhaps you could go back into classic Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and Jet Li.

Mathias

For the next Addie Taste test, would you try oreos and sour cream? It tastes like cheesecake.

Randolph Tirazona

That's where I thought I 'replied to' lol Donno if you're a fan of Tolkien, but when Amazons' Rings of power came out there was a lot of negativity from the fan base, and one of the 'movie sites' was 'sloshing' the numbers 'in favor' of Rings of Power. Then someone posted screenshots of the numbers and they didn't add up and furthermore they changed! This is why I don't rely on any of the movie sites except for 'info about' a movie; at best I'll use many of them as guides. Especially with older movies as noted Godfather 3 was well received by much of the audience as well as the 'professionals' this is clearly shown by the data and what I remember. I haven't looked into it but here I'd have to say that the numbers have been skewed 'well afterwards.' Yeah! Coda! OH! For a bit there was talk of The Godfather 4 and that I would have loved to see after 3 cause it would have brought us closer to 'the present day.' lol But ultimately its her choice! :) I loved it as much if not more than Star Trek: Generations - which I had the VHS for... Sadly and now laughing about it I wore that VHS out!

Alex Tan

Same here. I never pay attention to RT scores at all.

Alex Tan

PiB watched Dog Day Afternoon (1975) recently.

Lord Byron

Any chance of watching Ted Lasso?

Thomas Wetherell

No question for me this month, just hope you had a Merry Christmas and are having a Happy New Year Addie!

BubblyRainbows

I have a similar question to the one I asked, and you answered last month. Or two questions, actually. I haven't gone through all your past posts yet, so I don't know if it came up, but have you ever put "Arcane" on a poll or do you plan to in the future? I love the series so much, and just like "Firefly," there is no limit to the number of times I will rewatch it if I have access to full reactions of it. In a similar vein, what about "The Haunting of Hill House"? I know horror content is not your thing, but the series is SO well written, and while there is definitely spooky content and atmosphere included, I view it as an engaging family drama first, horror content a distant second. (Plus, NO SPOILERS, there are a few incredible sequences that really must be seen. If you know, you know.)

Alex Tan

Would you like to check out any movies of the New Hollywood era like Bonnie and Clyde (1967), The Graduate (1967), Bullitt (1968), Easy Rider (1969), Klute (1971), The French Connection (1971), Deliverance (1972), Mean Streets (1973), Badlands (1973), Serpico (1973), Chinatown (1974), Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974), Dog Day Afternoon (1975), Taxi Driver (1976), All the President's Men (1976), Sorcerer (1977) and The Deer Hunter (1978)? The movies listed here are just a few examples as there are plenty of others if you look up the New Hollywood era. You have also seen several other NH era movies on your channel as well (i.e. The Godfather: Parts 1 & 2, Jaws, the Star Wars original trilogy, Rocky, Alien, Airplane, The Shining, Raiders of the Lost Ark and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial).

Alex Tan

Now that you've seen Top Gun (1986) & Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), will you react to more Tony Scott movies (including The Hunger (1983), Revenge (1990), Days of Thunder (1990), The Last Boy Scout (1991), True Romance (1993), Crimson Tide (1995), The Fan (1996), Enemy of the State (1998), Spy Game (2001), Man on Fire (2004), Domino (2005), Déjà Vu (2006), The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (2009) and Unstoppable (2010))?

DazzMetalStorm

What are your opinions about cliffhangers in movies/tv shows? Do you like them? Do you like the shock factor and having to wait for the next movie?

Philip Davetas

Do you always wake up that foxy? Or do you roll over and magic happens?

Alex Tan

Will you react to Fools Rush In (1997) with Salma Hayek & the late Matthew Perry?

Alex Tan

Have you heard? A live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon is in production. It's being filmed with IMAX-Certified cameras.

LightsCameraJake

Two questions, relatively simple questions: What inspires and motivates you to keep going to fight through those long editing hours, the copyright notices, the stress of running a YT channel full time? and, are you happy right now?

Alex Tan

Now that you've seen Arrival (2016), will you react to Sicario (2015) with Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin and Emily Blunt? It's an intense and brutal crime action thriller that's from the same director of Arrival (2016).

LightsCameraJake

I agree. A freelance editor could also give her time to do multi season TV shows as it will free up time to do more content.
