You had questions, and I have answers! Here's our Q&A for January (our first Q&A of the year)! Started the Q&A with a 2 and a 4 balloon to celebrate the new year... the 4 did not survive. Soooo... Happy Two Year! Get it, like Happy New Year but instead of "new" it's "two" and "new" rhymes with "two" and... I'll see myself out.

Happy Thursday, Addie! 😊 Thanks for another great monthly Q&A video featuring you and Ollie. Have a great day today! 😊

Alex Tan

Happy Thursday and happy "two" year, Addie & Ollie. Thank you so much for answering my questions for this month. The leftovers will be reworked for either next month or the future ones. Stay tuned to hear my thoughts on certain things soon. BTW, nice sweater.

Luis Fernandez

Thanks Addie for another great Q&A! For car/driving films, I would recommend you start with older films. These emphasize stunt drivers and practical effects in a way modern movies do not (admittedly, sometimes at the expense of plot). I'd recommend: The Italian Job (1969), Bullitt (1968), Vanishing Point (1971), The French Connection (1971), Gone in 60 Seconds (1974), and the whole Mad Max franchise. For martial arts films, I'd suggest you check out some Jackie Chan classics to start, as they'll have his comedy/action style you are somewhat already familiar with. I'd suggest Drunken Master I and II, and Supercop (aka Police Story 3). I think it is fair to say that Supercop is where most of the world was introduced to Michelle Yeoh (from Everything Everywhere). Finally, if you decide to watch King Kong/Godzilla, I'd recommend you start with the original of each. There's a reason these characters have inspired decades of sequels - the original movies are great!

I have no idea if the reply I was writing was posted or not. My cat decided to attack my keyboard and I think it was deleted. So I apologize if this is mostly a repeat of a half finished post. Personally, I would recommend the newer versions of "Gone in 60 Seconds" and "The Italian Job," which I think are superior to the older ones. And also, I think the newer ones would do better for the channel. I guess I might recommend "Cannonball Run," which was one of my grandpa's favorite car movies, and maybe "The Transporter" with Jason Statham for a car movie/martial arts mix. Jackie Chan movies are great, but I would also recommend either "The One" or "War," both starring Jet Li and Jason Statham, and maybe "Kickboxer" or "The Quest" with Jean Claude Van Damme to widen the variety of styles of martial arts type movies. Personally, my favorite Van Damme movie is "Timecop," which I'd love to see on the channel, but it's not so heavy on the martial arts.

Alex Tan

@BubblyRainbows I second Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) and The Italian Job (2003). Kudos to PiB & Mary Cherry for watching Gone in 60 Seconds (2000). Speaking of Jean-Claude Van Damme I'm also throwing in Bloodsport (1988), Lionheart (1990), Universal Soldier (1992), Hard Target (1993), Sudden Death (1995), Maximum Risk (1996) and Double Team (1997). #MoreJeanClaudeVanDammeForAddieCounts

My top five 2023 movies are 1. Oppenheimer (IMAX Version) 2. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning 3. Gran Turismo 4. The Equalizer 3 5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (IMAX Version) My top 10 are the above five and 6. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny 7. Evil Dead Rise 8. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (IMAX Version) 9. Creed III (IMAX Version) 10. Wonka In case you're wondering how I would rank Barbie (2023) with the other 2023 movies that I've seen in theaters that year, then it's dead last. It was my least favorite movie of 2023 because I felt the movie itself was just weird and cringy, especially the "I'm Just Ken" number. Not only that, I wasn't interested in the subject matter regarding the movie's social commentary. However, I did get a good laugh attack from that "Depression Barbie" commercial. As time goes on, I started having qualms about what its success would imply down the road, especially since that movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (2023), Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé (2023) and Mean Girls (2024) (all are recently released movies that I'm NOT interested in and NOT comfortable with) were box office hits. IMO, it could result in the same damaging effects, just as it had with superhero & franchise movies in the latter half of 2010s. My cinematic preference, for the kind of movies that I like, stems from intense/gritty pure action thrillers that have guns, explosions and car chases. All set to some very fast-paced editing, frenetic cinematography, with rapid fire zooms & shaky hand held camera work as well as swooping aerials from FPV (First Person View) drones and ominous music scores that are produced with a mixture of electronic synthesized beats paired with a traditional orchestra on electric guitar amplifiers. When the movie finishes, the audience will feel mentally & physically exhausted and VERY on edge & high strung. However, aside from my craving for violent action movies, I also enjoy a balance of other movies as well, whether it's a prestige film or a popcorn movie, as long as it's a movie that appeals to me, based off of the trailer I watch.

I'm looking forward to your reaction to Armageddon (1998) as your next Disney movie as well as your first in the new year. I'm NOT kidding as I'm saying this because it was released under the Touchstone Pictures banner, which allowed Disney to make more adult oriented movies since the mid-80's. Hollywood Pictures, the sister Disney banner that released Tombstone (1993) & The Sixth Sense (1999) was also of such. That was nice of Jeremy to get you that necklace with those two discs, each containing a picture of Titus & Ollie, for Christmas. Speaking of necklaces, I got my girlfriend a heart-shaped Kendra Scott necklace for her birthday and she also got a star-shaped one for Christmas as well. Aside from the Fast & Furious film series, which I still suggest to you (as it actually has 11 movies as of now), I also have other car themed movies to suggest to you as well: Bullitt (1968), The French Connection (1971), Days of Thunder (1990), Ronin (1998), Gone in 60 Seconds (both 1974 & 2000 versions), The Italian Job (both 1969 & 2003 versions), Wanted (2008), Drive (2011), Baby Driver (2017) and Gran Turismo (2023). You also saw the GT trailer before Barbie (2023) as well. The distant observation point was the FURTHEST observation point of the Trinity Test. If you were to view the detonation from there, you wouldn't feel or hear the loud blast of the shockwave. The base camp viewers had to duck their heads down on the matresses when the detonation hit. J. Robert Oppenheimer viewed the detonation from the South observation point. Tom Cruise is my ALL-TIME favorite actor. He just signed a new movie deal with Warner Bros. Even though Dial of Destiny (2023) was good, I wish there was an actual snake scene because, for me personally, it wouldn't be a complete Indiana Jones movie without a snake scene. Plus, it would've made a strong reaction from you since you're afraid of snakes. In fact, I enjoyed your reaction to Raider of the Lost Ark (1981) because of the snake pit scene, where you had your hands on your head and cried out "MOTHER-OF-PEARL, THOSE ARE SNAKES!". I do hope that you still spread out the TV shows you watch, that are only one season, with the movies as well.

Alex Tan

Her third so far and her first of 2024.

Alex Tan

She also did Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream last March and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans this past December.

Steve SG-1

I asked the question about the car theme list, but I guess I forgot about a list! Anyways here's some in no particular order: Ford Vs Ferrari (2019), Rush (2013), Days of Thunder (1990), Gran Tursimo (2023), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000), The Fast and the Furious (2001).

Luis Fernandez

I haven't watched the new (*cough*) Italian Job since it came out, so I don't hardly remember it at all. But I have to disagree with you about Gone in 60 Seconds. I can't get behind a "car" movie that cgi's the climax. That hurts my heart. Love Jet Li, so I'd be totally behind Addie exploring those. I'm a big fan of the Once Upon a Time in China series, and Fearless (2006) is a movie that brings me a sense of peace. I think the last Van Damme movie I saw was Sudden Death when it came out, so it'd be interesting to see how those held up over time. And Alex I'm not familiar with Mary Cherry, but the name reminded me... Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974) was a pretty good car movie also!

Luis Fernandez

Gotta admit, I went straight to the video and didn't read the blurb. But the blurb is as good as the video. Well done, Addie!

Alex Tan

Ford vs. Ferrari (2019) was awesome in IMAX. It's directed by James Mangold, who directed The Wolverine (2013), Logan (2017) & Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023). The same can be said for Gran Turismo (2023), which I saw in IMAX, twice. I also second Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) with Nicolas Cage. Addie would enjoy that movie after having seen Nic in the National Treasure movies. PiB & Mary Cherry watched it on their channels as well. #MoreCarMoviesForAddieCounts

Alex Tan

Maybe she can watch both versions of the movie and decide for herself which one she prefers. However, my suggestion for Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) stemmed from suggesting another Nicolas Cage movie to Addie, since she watched both National Treasure movies. #GoneIn60Seconds2000ForAddieCounts

BubblyRainbows

SPOILER ALERT FOR "BLOODSPORT" AND "THE QUEST": Those two movies are essentially the same movie. I prefer "The Quest" just because they use a wider variety of martial arts (and other fighting styles) which made it more interesting to me. But for the most part, the concepts and stories are so similar that "The Quest" could basically be viewed as a remake. END SPOILER I would love for Addie to see a bunch of JCVD's movies, in large part because I'd be curious to see her reaction to the Amazon series "Jean Claude Van Johnson" once she has seen a good selection of his movies. I thought that series was amazingly funny in parts.

Luis Fernandez

Oh! Forgot to mention in my last comment, I wholeheartedly support watching the Cannonball Run movies!

LionBro

Please watch Team America.

Mr. Writhms

Thanks, once again, for answering my question. 👍 Happy Two Year!

Alex Tan

In fact, it was actually Jon Johns who suggested the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream taste test in January of last year. I finally got Addie to do it that March.

Born and raised in Seattle, WA. In the Pacific Northwest it's been a tradition for many families for many years to have "Liberty Orchards' Aplets & Cotlets" from Thanksgiving to Christmas. My grandma gave me my first one in the early 60's lol And now they have Fruitlets which don't have nuts for those that have allergy issues, but please read the notice on anything you buy, even the Fruitlets! There is: Tropical Frolic Fruitlets, Berry Fiesta Fruitlets and Orchard Rave Fruitlets! These are definitely Thee best so far! And they 'taste like home.'
