**PATREON EXCLUSIVE REACTION: Tick, Tick... Boom!** For any of you unfamiliar with the Legend's Movie Pick of the Month, this is where each member of the Legends Tier can suggest a favorite movie of any era or genre for me to watch, and then a winning suggestion is chosen at random for a Patrons Only reaction.

I would like to extend a big CONGRATULATIONS to Legend **Jennifer Redmond** for suggestion of the latest winning title: Tick, Tick... Boom!. Tick, Tick... Boom! caught me completely off-guard and reduced me to tears, effectively forcing me to do the slow cry down the shower wall any time I think of this movie (or its music) in the future. So thank you for that, Jennifer... Kidding aside, this is an OUTSTANDING, emotional film about the incredible journey of the man who created the Broadway show Rent, and it features a career-best performance by Andrew Garfield.

I've provided the unblurred version up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/16_629YCQ7c. For those watching the YouTube version, remember that you'll need your own copy to sync up.

Thanks again to Jennifer and ALL of you incredible Patrons for your support, and I hope that you enjoy this reaction :)

I’m so glad you liked it!! Did you find the name list for the diner? I have it somewhere if you didn’t! Side note, so Sondheim had spent time with Lin discussing his time with Jon, and (if I’m remembering right) they shot everything with the Sondheim character, and Mr. Sondheim had a private screening. He sent Lin an email and said he felt like the voicemail message in the movie was a little cliché and not something he’d say. So he asked Lin to bring back Bradley Whitford and he would write out a better message for Bradley to read and he’d do the recording himself if Bradley couldn’t come back. So, to make a super long post short, the voice you hear in that voicemail is actually Stephen Sondheim who passed 14 days after its release. When I heard that voice come through that answering machine, I squealed, cried, and laughed all at the same time. He must have been amazed to get that message!

David vs. Film

Ok so about the diner scene, girl yes, but I had no idea that was just scratching the surface!! I found this on Slate (https://slate.com/culture/2021/11/tick-tick-boom-movie-netflix-diner-cameos-broadway.html) and apparently there were so many cameos sprinkled throughout that I wasn't even looking for! Audience members in the workshops, additional diner scenes, etc. The guy I said I recognized in the diner but couldn't place is Brian Stokes Mitchell, and even though he's a Bway legend (as I'm sure you know of course), I know him from tv. Specifically Good Fight- we're big Good Wife/Good Fight fans. I had NO idea about that actually being Sondheim on the machine. Pretty, pretty cool! I did look up when he died after the movie, and saw the timeline you mentioned. But I sure thought that was him at first, so Whitford was good casting lol. Thank you again so much for recommending this :)
