'SUP Awesome Patrons! Fight Club was victorious in the most recent Action Movie poll, and holy smokes! I now see why. We're officially not supposed to talk about Fight Club - that's the first AND second rule, after all - but I gotta say that I was very impressed with this movie. The twist alone would have had me singing its praises, but there was so much more than that to love about it. Like Helena Bonham Carter! I always enjoy getting see ol' HBC.

I'd be thrilled if you decided to watch along with me in this full-length reaction, and definitely be sure to let us know your thoughts about it if you do. I've provided the unblurred version up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/ZCoo3_N9AgY. For those watching the YouTube version, remember that you'll need your own copy to sync up.

One more quick note.. as requested, I have started adding the draft version of the post-movie commentary to these full reactions. The fully edited version will be included in the public YouTube upload, but this draft will give you a preview of what's to come regarding our final thoughts.

Thanks as always for your incredible support, and I hope you have a great rest of the day/night!

This is one of my all time favourite films😁

Michael Nolan

Saw this in my early 20s and it was the single most meaningful film I had ever seen. It was a literally life changing experience. I actually had to talk myself out of plunging a bottle opener through my hand in the cinema. (fortunately I was not quite that dumb.) Still, I lapped up what it spooned up, and was ready to become a Space Monkey for the greater good. Yes, I was that tragically clueless.

WHAT I haven’t seen this movie in SO LONG and I was OBSESSED as a teenager. Also never seen anyone do a first time reaction for it!! I know what I’m doing tonight 😆🧼👊🏼

Same here. I think this film changed the way sixteen-year-old (insomniac) me thought about life for a good year.

Kayleigh

Similar to other commenters, this film really affected and spoke to me as a depressed, self-loathing teenager. You got the whole jist about 30 mins in lol but still loved your reaction at the reveal. If you decide to watch again you'll pick up on a lot of clues that are sprinkled throughout, like the glitches being of a single person. And finally, the flights you questioned were paid by the car company as part of the narrator's settlement.

I love this film, a cult classic that totally deserves to be one. The scene where The Narrator fights himself in the boss' office is so good. 'For some reason I was reminded of my first fight with Tyler.' Hmm, I wonder why lol. Also, Tyler calling him back on the payphone at the beginning – payphones can't even take incoming calls! Rewatching after knowing the twist makes all of those little easter eggs so much better. That final scene with Where Is My Mind and all the buildings collapsing has to be one of my favourite scenes ever though. It's such a sort of non-ending and I love it. I've always found this film very gay lol. I do think all of the homoerotic undertones are deliberate as the book is much more overtly queer. I don't see people pick up on it very often though, so found it interesting that you mentioned it a little bit! When you said you aren't that into Ed Norton, I was going to ask if you'd seen Primal Fear hahah, then you mentioned it. I like him a lot personally and I've always thought his performance in that was amazing, especially for his first role. Doesn't compare to this, but still top tier. Loved your reaction!

"God, is this how they get people to be veterinarians?" Absolutely killed me 😂😂😂

David vs. Film

It was so good! I don't know why I never watched it before now. I feel like it's one of those movies that passed me by, and then everyone else had already seen it when I wanted to watch it. (that happened to me with Black Swan- still never saw crazy mess either)

David vs. Film

Damn! That's how you know it is an effective film. Can you imagine being the writer(s), director, and know that your creation that kind of impact on someone?

David vs. Film

Hey thank you that's awesome!! Yeah, never saw it, and I think it was probably one of those that by the time I did want to watch, all my friends had already seen it. Worth the wait!

David vs. Film

Thanks for the flights answer, Kayleigh! Yeah, you know it's funny you say that about catching details on repeat viewings, because the first thing I meant to say in the post-movie commentary is how this is one of those movies that you immediately want to watch again. Unfortunately, by the time I got to the end my mind was just racing. So, so good. I will say that I had my ideas as the movie went along, but I didn't know anything for sure. If you've seen me watch ANY movie, I just throw it all at the wall like spaghetti lol.

David vs. Film

Evan!! What's up.. yeah, this movie was INCREDIBLE. So much more than anything I could have imagined. And yeah, I really want to go back and watch now with the full story in mind. When I thought Tyler was a real person, I really did think there was something more to their relationship. I wondered if it was headed in that direction, anyway. I feel like today there is so much more depth and texture to sexuality and its complicated definitions, but in 1999 the bathtub scene alone would have been like, "Oh they gay... " lol. Didn't Talented Mr. Ripley come out around this same time too?

David vs. Film

Haha I took my dog and new cat to the vet today, actually, and for a split second I thought about asking, "Hey, have you ever seen Fight Club?"...

Caroline

I was the same, think just the name of it and everyone hyping it up so much put me off watching it. When I finally did it’s been one of my top favourite films ever😋 And I don’t think I’ve even heard of Black Swan, will need to look it up x
