'SUP Awesome Patrons! I'm still not sure what "spatchcock" is, but I'm damn sure that this was yet another highly addictive episode! Noel continues to climb the scoreboard towards a season win, but I was so happy to see the winner of this particular episode finally get a moment to truly shine :)

Here is my unedited, full-length reaction to Episode 6, "Spatchcock It", and I would love it if you watched along with me. Definitely be sure to let me know your thoughts if you do! I've provided the unblurred version up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/AXnK5F4gX-U.  For those watching the blurred version, remember that you'll need your own copy of the episode to sync up (I found the full Taskmaster episodes free on YouTube, fyi).

Thanks as always for your incredible support, and I hope you have a great rest of the day/night!

From just reading your description, spatchcock is when you remove the backbone from a chicken so it can be opened up and lied flat when cooking. Like when you ‘butterfly’ chicken.

Michael Nolan

I believe "spatchcocking" (also called "Butterflying") is the process of removing a bird's backbone to lay it flat while cooking. About to watch the episode now, I have no idea whether my explanation is at all relevant!

It might have been Alex's house in the background! The pitch is Chesham United F.C. which Alex is a director of and is also where the Taskmaster Charity matches have been held. Alex does live in Chesham and that actually was his own garden in the dog (/chicken) task, which surprised me.

The baking show you are talking about is called The Great British Bake Off

"So it's up to EWE to decide who's brought in the best sheep-related item, BAA one." I love stupid puns. Taskmaster episodes always feel so short. Whenever it gets to the live task, it feels like when you were at a friend's house as a child, and your parents came to collect you, and you'd be like, "Nooo, just 5 more minutes, please!!"

Calbah

They have to call it The Great British Baking Show in the US and Canada because Pillsbury owns the trademark for "Bake-Off." Mel and Sue were the hosts for the first 7 seasons with Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood as the judges. None of those are available on Netflix, which started airing them after the show moved from the BBC to Channel 4. Mary Berry was replaced by Prue Leith. Mel and Sue were replaced by Noel and Sandi Toksvig for the next three series. Then three series with Noel and Matt Lucas. Last series was the first with Noel and Alison Hammond. The second series with Noel, Alison, Paul, and Prue starts later this month.

Ohhhh haha ok, well that makes sense. I never knew there was this term for it. Without any context at all, I would have guessed something to do with home repair lol. Thank you!

Haha giving it all for the show! Yeah, I just watched the last 2 episodes last night (they're about to hit Patreon in about 20 minutes, and I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts!), and I noticed that they returned to the same pitch for one more task :)

David vs. Film

Thanks, Lee-anne! Is that the same as The Great British Baking Show? I feel like I've seen it styled both ways..

David vs. Film

Hahaha such a great description! I just watched the last 2 eps from this season last night (they're about to be uploaded here in a few minutes), and they were WAYYYY too fast!!

David vs. Film

Annnnnd I just read Calbah's response LOL. Thank you!!! This gives me a complete picture now :) I just watched the last 2 eps, and I heard Mel name-drop Mary Berry, the lady I originally though was Sue lol. I'm getting there, but I still have so much to learn!

Becky

Curse you for uploading just as I’m about to head out 🤣 Something to look forward to when I get home though!
