I want your opinion, Valued Patrons! Generally speaking, when it comes to the kind of reaction videos you guys are most inclined to watch, do you prefer movies or tv shows? I know there's amazing content in both, and don't worry, I'm not eliminating one over the other. I'm just curious as to your opinions as I strive to make the channel more of what you all want to see. :)

Thanks!
David

Ahhh this is so hard. Because if it’s a show I like, then I massively appreciate it! But if I dont like the movie, then at least I might like the next one. So I cant decide what to vote 😭

KatiesGoldenDust

There's no both option? I have to abstain then lol. I watch both, but I only watch the reactions of things I've seen already. I don't want it spoiled in case I decide to watch it in the future. But if I've seen it? I'm there to support you! And Marc when he makes an appearance!

David vs. Film

Oh I hear ya sister! Why do you think I punted this question over to you guys?? lol And really, it's more about me facing a dilemma as some new shows are coming out soon that look really interesting to me, but I wanted to see first how you all feel about shows vs. movies in general. Seems like a lot of other reactors are defaulting to tv shows more and more.

David vs. Film

Oh don't worry! Both isn't an option because it will ALWAYS be both :) I'm not dropping one or the other, I am just curious to see how you are watching reactions nowadays. I feel like back during Covid, a lot more people were home and watching long YouTube videos of movie reactions, but now as we continue to go back to our frenetic lives, I feel like show reactions are doing better because they're faster to watch. *shrug* Oh and another reason I'll never drop movies is because Game of Thrones aside, that's Marc's preference of things to join on.

Lee-anne

I’d love to see you do The Inbetweeners & The IT Crowd for comedies, and Happy Valley & Line of Duty for drama

Jon

Depends. I'm more likely to watch a movie I dont really care about to watch a reaction vs watching a series to watch the reactions

Eileen

I'm sitting on that fence too. I didn't like Taskmaster so only watched 2 of those, but LOVE GOT which is taking forever for you to get through. That's not a criticism, just a fact. ;-) I love the Graham Norton show snippets too. But I also really like the movies.

KatiesGoldenDust

I hear ya haha. I'll watch anything so long as I've already seen it! I get TV shows can be easier to do. If you decide to watch Game of Thrones, then you've got a schedule for many, many months already mapped out. But if you're doing movies, then you've gotta constantly find new content to watch. There's upsides and downsides to both

Watson

PENNY DREADFUL!!! That being said 😁, I really miss you. It really depends on which movie you choose and the subject matter of the tv show. I don’t know Taskmaster, so I don’t watch it. GoT had too many seasons. I would watch tv depending on the subject matter and how long it is. Three or less seasons is ok. (The Flan-a-verse is great and, ‘tis that season!) Films are great, depending on which one it is. So it guess you’re asking us to make “Sophie’s Choice.” Your patron fan base has grown enough that you could start the pay to guarantee a reaction from you. I know people are having great success with this. There are some that pay to have a reaction to something that we personally love and want to share a piece of ourselves with you. For me, it’s Drum Corps International (DCI,) High School Marching Bands (State UiL and Band’s of America (BOA,) and Winter Guards (WGI.) 1) They are short. 2) It makes us feel good to be able to share a part of our soul’s love with you. 3) It makes us feel like we’re getting your personal attention. That makes us feel good and makes us want to return to your channel more often. Can’t wait to find out your thoughts!!

More of a movie gal myself! I also like music reactions, like a lot of the other reactors I watch do music too but I know with a 9 to 5 that’s a lot to try to get on YouTube.

Becky

Please please please never stop Taskmaster.

Pam and Mike Thompson

Team Movie here! We just don't watch a lot of TV shows except the big ones like Game of Thrones, Lost, etc.

David vs. Film

Yeah, totally right about that. With TV shows, it would likely be something current or recent. I'm so glad we did Game of Thrones, but those reactions have been going for over a year now, and we still have 2 seasons to go lol. So shows like Buffy and others that people have asked about would be great, but unless I just do full-length reactions on Patreon, there's no way I'd have time to dedicate to including/editing them and still offer a variety on the channel :(

David vs. Film

Thanks Lee-anne!! Yeah, Inbetweeners is a great option, for example, because I looked it up and there are only 3 seasons, 6 eps per season, 30 min. I could crank a couple of those out faster than a 3-hour epic saga film on a busy week ;) Thank you for the suggestions!

David vs. Film

Oh no offense! I hear ya, and thank yo for your feedback :) Yeah, it's tough trying to offer a variety because I will invariably alienate folks no matter what :) If I drilled down and just did straight GoT non-stop, I'd definitely have people fall off who have no interest in GoT. Same with Taskmaster or any other series. And then movies are also tough because some people hate horror and would never watch, whereas something like Steel Magnolias, that I though NO ONE would be interested honestly, currently has 47k views. But I definitely want to always do both shows and movies, it's more about trying to gauge the amount of either and the timing ;)

David vs. Film

Awww thank you Watson! These are all great suggestions, and I will forever associate you with Penny Dreadful since Day 1! lol. One place our paths cross for sure is the Flan-a-verse! So far I've seen (of his series) Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass; and (of his movies) Hush. Which ones are your favorites that I haven't seen? How was Bly Manor?

David vs. Film

Thanks Sara! Haha you're right about that with the 9 to 5 :) You know, it's interesting about the music reactions because I have toyed with that idea over the years, and I've always kicked the can down the road because, 1) I have no idea how what works with copyright and what I can leave in, how to interrupt for comments or wait until after, etc., and 2) I have no idea what to do with my face while listening to music. lol

David vs. Film

Never! hahaha. Aside from the fact that I love it, those are the best-performing videos on the channel right now, so Greg and Alex are safe.

David vs. Film

Thank you my friends!!! Yeah, and I like movie reactions because they're one-and-done for the most part. I just wish they were performing better right now :(

Lee-anne

absolutely, and it's so funny! it's very popular amongst us Brits too as it's a pretty accurate depiction of sixth form/school! There are 2 movies that come after the series too just so you're aware :)

Eileen

I sit on the no horror bench, but having said that, I do like the older ones. Jaws, Psycho (which is more suspense IMO), the original Texas Chainsaw, Scream, ones that I have seen. I used to love them. The newer ones just freak the hell out of me. Last one I watched was Saw and thought, wtf am I doing?!!? ROFL!! I was working at CNN and got enough real horror at work. Movies like Steel Magnolias I just love. AND, I like to watch to see if you all cry. ;-) and I love the entire cast. Have you seen The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas?? If not, Dolly, Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, need I say more? OH and it's a musical! You can never please everyone, but even when I don't like something, I'm here for the long haul cause you and Mark are awesome to watch something with.
