I've gotten a TON of Taskmaster recommendations, and I need your advice on where I should dive in. There are quite a few series/seasons and episodes, so for those of you familiar with this show already, I'm looking for your guidance please!

If I decide to move forward with it for the channel, which seems imminently likely, then this would be actual episode recaps/reactions, and not clip compilations like Graham Norton has been thus far.

Thanks as always for your incredible support!!

I am a Taskmaster Aficionado™ ! You should 100% start with series 1. Some people will recommend starting at a later series, probably 7, to draw you in, but going chronologically is definitely the best way to get the full experience and see the show grow, especially Greg Davies' and Alex Horne's personas. Don't be overwhelmed by how many series there are though - if it's better for the channel to skip around the series, that can work aswell. It's not how I recommend watching, but you won't be confused or anything! Looking forward to it. My favourite show :D

Gee, I’m not sure. If you’re going to do another series, I would start with S1:E1 of PENNY DREADFUL.

I went on IMDb and checked it out. It doesn’t seem to matter which order. So, Talley-hoe!

I totally agree that chronological is the best way. While series 1 isn’t as good as 7 or 9, I’d still put it on my favorites list. I think watching Greg Davies and Alex Horne’s relationship develop is super fun. Also, the first five seasons have fewer episodes than later ones, so they don’t take as long to get through. Series 10 is the only one I don't love, and it's still not bad. Otherwise, I find them hard to rank. Here is the order that I spent way too little time creating: 9, 7, 4, 5, 11, 13, 12, 1, 2, 14, 15, 3, 16, 8, 6, 10. Really, it's more like my top 6 are fantastic, #7-13 are tied for really great, #14 and #15 are quite good, and #16 is good. Looking at that ranking, I immediately start thinking things like "how could you rank series 16 so low?" and then I look at everything above it and can't figure out how I could move anything lower. Okay, final ranking that makes my brain stop fretting: Tied for first are 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13. Tied for second are 1, 2, 3, 12, 14, 15, 16. Tied for third are 6 and 8. 10 is by itself in fourth. Ask me tomorrow and I'll probably change my mind. So, TL/DR, watching in order is the best way to go. 😆

So I agree that starting season 1 would be good to establish the show’s dynamics. But after season 1, I think you should feel free to hop around, maybe go to season 5 or 7. I don’t think there’s any benefit really of going chronologically. I started on season 7 and have watched all the seasons in random orders. There’s honestly no bad season, there’s just a couple that don’t hit the mark quite in the same way as the others but these are few and far between!

That's a good point about the early series - only 5-6 episodes, then 8, and the first 10 ep series is series 6. Hahah, I totally agree that it's hard to rank them. Every series is genuinely great, apart from 6 which is good but not great in my opinion. 10 definitely suffers a bit with the lack of live audience, but they'd sorted that out by 11. My personal ranking is probably: 11, 16, 7, 1, 4, 5, 13, 12, 9, 15, 2, 14, 10, 8, 3, 6. 11 is an easy favourite, but the rest are harder to place. You've made me want to rewatch 9 though to see if it ranks any higher!

I'm late to the conversation here, but I am I huge Taskmaster fan! I think starting with Season 1 would be as good a place to start as any other. I have loved every season. I could make a suggestion for David, cover the first season episode by episode. That might be a good way to get folks familiar with the format of a whole season. From there David could do clip compilations for seasons 2-4 to get folks familiar with the contestants and champions of those seasons, or polls of a favorite episode for each of season 2-4 to do recaps/reactions to, would get folks familiar with the casts of the first five seasons. That primes everyone for the Champion of Champions contest, which they do every five seasons. There are also have a few one off episodes, their New Years Treats. I love Taskmaster for how it introduces me to so many great British celebs I would have never known about otherwise.
