It's FINALLY time to watch Taskmaster! This series has been highly recommended by so many of you since I first enjoyed Greg Davies on Graham Norton. Based on your advice, I also started with the first episode of the first season, but I may jump around later as we go along.

Here is the unedited, full-length version of my reaction, and I would love it if you watched along with me. Definitely be sure to let me know your thoughts about the show if you do. I've provided the unblurred version up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/lgqI3eYjzXA. For those watching the YouTube version, remember that you'll need your own copy of the episode to sync up (I found them free on YouTube, fyi).

Thanks as always for your incredible support, and I hope you have a great rest of the day/night!

Yay, Taskmaster! Very glad you enjoyed it and it certainly does get better and better, including the tasks and themes :) Some info- Roisin was in Greg Davies' sitcom Man Down with him and another future Taskmaster contestant. She's a lot like her character hahah. Tim and Alex are good friends - Tim took part in Alex's original Taskmaster at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2010 (along with the aforementioned future Taskmaster contestant). Alex actually created the show, writes all the tasks, and is basically the man in charge, but didn't think he'd be fit for a hosting role. His band also does the music! The other show is 8 out of 10 Cats, but people might have suggested 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Cats Does Countdown is more popular (and better in my opinion).

Woohoo! Taskmaster! This first episode gives you the basics, but it really does get better all the time! At the moment all I can think of are future series and epic casts you will meet (probably in multiple shows) and the shenanigans around insane tasks to come!

I'm trying not to feel pathetic for the fact that I am more excited about you starting this show than anything going on in my life right now. 😂

During the bath task you remarked that they probably learned how fast they needed to go from the melon task. That may have been true, but the tasks are not always shot in the order they are shown on the show. The melon task could have been the last thing they filmed. The filming is heavily based on the schedules of the contestants. Some may film their individual tasks over a week, some may do it over more than a month. Alex has said they can shoot between 5-10 tasks in a day. Unfortunately, that also means that someone might have to do a task in the rain while for everyone else the weather is nice. There are a lot of rumors about how they choose which tasks to show during each episode. Some people say they group them so that every contestant wins at least one show. Another theory is that they try to make sure there is maximum drama in the last episode so that the final live task is meaningful for the outcome. The producers claim that it's more random than people think (i.e., it's definitely not rigged), but obviously they have to make it a good show too. I'm glad you are liking the comedians. Every series they seem to do well with picking a nice variety. 8 out of 10 Cats is great, but I agree with Evan that 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown is even better. The Countdown version is probably better for most of us Americans because the premise of regular 8 out of 10 Cats is making jokes about the news of the week (much of which is centered in the UK), while 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown is comedians participating in their own version of the popular British game show Countdown. The Dawn French show is called The Vicar of Dibley. She plays an Anglican priest who is assigned to the village of Dibley soon after the Church of England allowed women to be ordained.

I am BEYOND excited that you're watching Taskmaster. Alex gets into an array of undignified situations as this show progresses, and you start to almost feel bad for him. Until you remember that it's his show that he wrote, making the situations and the dynamic between Greg and Alex all the more hilarious! I've not seen this season in ages, and some memories from it are coming back which I'm excited about. I also love Roisín, she's so relatable to me. 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown is definitely worth watching, but I think compilations would be okay for that. Honestly, I usually just watch compilations as not every episode is top-notch. Though I'd be happy if you did nothing but knock out a load of Taskmaster episodes 😂

Ahhhhh I see.. thank you, Evan!! You KNOW how much I appreciate behind-the-scenes info, more details on who people are, etc. And yeah, barely beginning Taskmaster but I can already see that I'll get hooked ;)

David vs. Film

Well I trust your tried and true judgment, of course, and I cannot wait. This is just a fun show already, and as you said, I'm sure it will get even better ;)

David vs. Film

Get out! Really?? Not about the pathetic part, which I HIGHLY disagree given your awesomeness, but that you're that excited about this show! That makes ME more excited now!

David vs. Film

DIBLEY!! YES! Thank you :) I think I would really enjoy that, if even just for "on my own" watching. She seems really funny to me. Thank you also for mentioning that about the shooting order with Taskmaster. Makes perfect sense, and I hadn't even thought of that. This is why I rely on you to keep me informed!! lol Oh and with Cats, since you and Evan both vouched for Countdown, sounds like that's the way to go ;)

David vs. Film

Thank you so much, Becky!!! Ahhh so Alex is the writer then! I don't think I caught that. Good to know. I was just thinking Davies was the mastermind behind it all- now I know ;) I'm also glad you told me Cats could be a compilation; that's good to know. I really want to continue with Would I Lie to You also, but it's becoming very tricky to edit enough to pass copyright, but then not get yelled at by the show's fans for cutting too much :(

Becky

The whole show was Alex's idea, but he didn't think he'd play the role of the taskmaster very well. But he comes up with all the tasks, which makes him the perfect sidekick to go on location when the tasks take place. Oh no, that sucks :( People need to understand how difficult it is to get around copyright, and hopefully be nicer to you about it. I'm really looking forward to you jumping into some Cats compilations!

FIINE ill watch taskmaster. Lol I guess I just didn't know what it was, but I'm here for it!
