Before the holidays and travel f'ed up February, YOU GUYS voted Spider-Man: No Way Home as your choice for a sequel watch! I knew this movie carried the standard Marvel Seal of Approval and would thus be excellent, but it honestly went even beyond that and completely won me over- and was actually pretty surprisingly emotional! So good!!!

Here is the unedited, full-length version of my reaction, and I would love it if you watched along with me. Definitely be sure to let me know your thoughts about the film if you do. I've provided the unblurred version up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/jtB5uHDIxio. For those watching the YouTube version, remember that you'll need your own copy of the movie to sync up.

SPECIAL NOTE: For some reason the Legends Ticker didn't load at the beginning of the Streamable version (Icons and Superstars Ticker at the end loaded like normal, and the YouTube version is fine), so I'll take this opportunity to thank those amazing folks here instead: THANK YOU, PATREON LEGENDS!  Morothane • Katie • Jon C • Logan Axne • Luis Maldonado • Adam Levan • Usagi Dango • Victoria Bert • Relax with J and C • Nia Maki • Paul Zawicki • Tracy Skrabut • Daniel Graham • The Emerald Duchess • Calbah • Radiodanoo • Jimmie V • Lisa Kaeff • Rowena • Taryn Griffith • Amanda P • Buddy Mullaly • WhitneyG • KatiesGoldenDust • Randy • Oscar Rg • Michael Nolan • Watson • Daniel Rotello • Liane Weise • Pat Neff • Seph • Jennifer Redmond • Drew Johnston • Skylar Elliott • Petrosakaghettogypsy • JJ • FOTSnax • Kody Weiand • Marc

Paula Newsome is the actor who played the MIT lady. The main things I know her from are playing Vance's wife on NCIS and she is the star of the new CSI: Vegas. She was also in a few episodes of Transparent.

David vs. Film

Thanks!! Yeah, I looked her up, and nothing in particular stood out, but I've seen about 75% of the shows in which she's been in 1 or 2 episodes. Including Transparent, which I never finished and still need to. :)

This movie really shows how great Andrew Garfield could have been as Spider-Man with better scripts. I liked the Amazing Spider-Man movies, but I think they could have been much better. It was not a Garfield problem.

David vs. Film

Yessssss!!! So agree with you. I never quite could put my finger on why I wasn't feeling those movies as much as the originals and the Tom Holland ones, but something was off and it didn't make sense because I love the entire cast, truly. It's kind of like when I watch Garry Marshall's holiday films (Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve); they're not BAD, and Lord knows they're a veritable who's who of Hollywood, but something's just off with them when I watch. And it's not just Lea Michele, as much as I'd like to blame her for all ills in the world.. lol

Calbah

Yes! Garry Marshall's rom-coms have a similar problem. They're all written by so-so TV writers (although the Amazing Spider-Man movies had more of a too many cooks in the kitchen writing problem). Almost all the best rom-coms are written by Nora Ephron. 😆 But if you look at other successful directors that are kind of in the same group as Garry Marshall, all their best films are written by legends. Rob Reiner directs stuff written by Stephen King, Aaron Sorkin, and Nora Ephron. Penny Marshall's movies weren't written by superstars at that level, but if you look up the other films that the writers worked on, there are some great movies in there. One of those writers is Nancy Meyers who directed some of her own screenplays like The Intern, The Holiday, and Something's Gotta Give. The guy who wrote My Best Friend's Wedding also wrote Rain Man for fuck's sake. I can only guess that as a TV writer himself, Garry Marshall wanted to give other TV writers a shot at films. He got lucky on a few of them in the 80s and 90s (the guy who wrote Pretty Woman never did anything else that was decent), but after The Princess Diaries it was all downhill. At least he kept acting. Garry Marshall cameos and small roles like in A League of Their Own were the best! On the other hand, New Year's Eve was totally Lea Michele's fault and you can't convince me it wasn't. 😂

David vs. Film

Hahahaha with that Lea Michele dig at the end. Solidarity! But seriously, excellent points. I didn't realize the same guy wrote MBFW and Rain Man! One that always got me was "Shelby's" brother in real life who wrote Steel Magnolias also wrote so many of my campy classic favorites like Soapdish, Evening Star, First Wives Club, and the short-lived show GCB. Speaking of Nora Ephron, did you ever watch Heartburn?

Calbah

Soapdish is one of my favorites! I haven't seen Heartburn since I was a kid. You guys should do a Mike Nichols marathon. Of course, you've already done The Birdcage, but it would be great to do the others. My favorites are the 80s films like Silkwood, Biloxi Blues, and Postcards from the Edge (and Heartburn), but they're pretty much all fantastic.
