(20-21 will be next wednesday)

We are nearing the end, on Friday I will do a poll if I should start the sequel series or just wait until the movie comes out this fall.

Iroh pulling Suki into a hug always makes me tear up. Telling Zuko he wasn't angry but sad is so emotional. And I like Zuko and Katara's friendship but don't see it as romantic. I always loved it because to me it was always validation that a guy and a girl could have such trust without them having to be shoved into a relationship, which was something me and my friends and cousin always hated. And the scenes with the past Avatars and the Lion Turtle are probably some of my favorites of the series, especially the turtle and Yangchen. I am so hyped for next week. It is by far one of the greatest finales I have ever seen.

Zuko/Katara has always been a fan favorite up to this day, too bad the creators didn't see it that way.

"Fan favorite" is a bit of a stretch. The two ships pretty much divide the fanbase in half. Several polls were held, from niche fandom spaces like tumblr, to the official Avatar social media, and the consensus is usually somewhere between 60-40 in favor of Aang, and full-on 50-50. Personally, I'm not a fan of Zutara, but not in a story perspective, I have a very meta opinion on the matter. This is a show that kids watched, as well as young teens. Zuko's redemption arc is awesome, but I wouldn't like it ending in him dating the deuteragonist. I think "the guy who emotionally manipulates you could turn out a worthy dating partner" isn't really a good message for impressionable youths. From a story perspective, I just don't really care for the romance aspect of the show. AtlA has many, MANY strengths, but that aspect in particular isn't one of them. The moment Aang was smitten with Katara when he was unfrozen, their fate was sealed, setup vs payoff and all that, so it was always whatever.

Okay, so I get what you mean regarding Zuko and Katara, and you're not the only one to see it (not confirming anything), but when you watch the episode, don't think of her coming "to be here with Zuko specifically". Remember that Katara and Azula are foils to each other in the narrative. Two young sisters who lost their mother at a young age while their father, a leader, is busy fighting the war.

Oh I forgot to mention but yes you should watch Korra. But maybe watch something else first in the meantime. I find that a little distance is good to make sure you can separate the two and see the merits of Korra.

That Zuko/Iroh moment was special. 🥹

I'd really love to watch this finale for the very first time again

I've watched the Zuko and Iroh reunion too many times to count, and it has never failed to make me cry.

I think you would like legend of korra because of how you like the characters, seeing their future selves is pretty cool

BTW, if you’re interested in learning more about Kyoshi’s and Yangchen’s stories, there are books about them available.

We are not cuckolding my boy Aang

Plus, remember the Book 2 finale, Katara had Azula on the ropes. Like, the show made it kinda clear that she would have beaten Azula, had Zuko not come in for the assist against Katara and Aang.

I completely agree, but also couldn’t help chuckling at your typo in the first sentence 😂 Iroh randomly pulling Suki in for a hug when the two literally never said a word to each other before this episode sounds both absurd but weirdly on-brand for someone like Iroh lmfao

Adam Vialpando

I wanted to correct it, but found it funnier to leave it in.

Shipping was always strange to me, its obvious when writers bait both and one side always denies the set up for the other even exists. thats just petty behavior.
