So before I start, this is a buffer rebuild week. BUT, some stuff happened in the last couple of weeks that I should probably post about.
Those of you that are part of my discord know all this so you can skip it, you guys got to watch it happen in real time.
A little bit ago, I started having ocular migraines every day. I have had these before, usually I get them maybe once a year, usually once every couple of years. I was never sure what caused them, but they run in the family and I didn't pay them much mind when they happened.
Until they were happening every day. And I got to wondering if something was wrong with me or what. The day that it started was a pretty shitty day. It was S-rank day in FFXIV, which I was looking forward to this one spawn that would spawn 64 times. Since I need 2000 S-ranks for this one mount I want to get, this would be a significant increase when usually you only get a couple per day. The power went out 10 minutes before the spawn timer. It came back up just after they were all killed. So I completely missed out.
Then later the dogs lost their shit at a neighbor's dog, and I ended up scraping my leg pretty bad on the neighbor's property marker stake.
And then after that, I got the ocular migraine. I figured it was stress.
Then the next day, another ocular migraine. Then again on the next.
Started looking it up and had a thought that maybe it was my Wacom Cintiq causing it. That was my main monitor on my work machine but more importantly, it was how I make all my digital art. It was 13 years old at that point, a workhorse that I knew would need to be replaced in the near future. So I shut down my work machine and stopped using it.
The migraines stopped. I didn't have any since. It was indeed the cintiq. But what does this mean now? Well I had to get a new one. Thankfully it was half the cost I was expecting a new cintiq to be (Only $1500) and I had been saving up for this for years expecting the old one to go at any time.So that leads us to now. It's a new monitor. It has a new pen. It has a larger resolution. And it needs to be recalibrated and I have to get used to it. This is going to put me behind. TLDR; While this is buffer rebuild week, it's also 'get used to a new wacom' week. And I might need more time.
That said, I decided to practice with the new cintiq and redo the last panel of Page 69. I didn't like how the first one was done - and honestly it was done quickly because I was working on it during the days I was suffering from those migraines. So I do have this to show you and I think it looks better than the original version (Which I left up for you guys to see).Anyway, I'm going to try to keep trucking on the comic, but I might need another week to get used to the new cintiq.
