The prototype suit is an early development version of the MJOLNIR suit that spartans wear. Early versions like this were more like mech suits and some required external power. Every one, including the Master Chief's own suit, have the same self destruct system, that overloads the fusion battery in the armor to prevent it's capture. Not the spartan's capture, the armors.

the covenant war lasted for decades, so it makes sense some soldiers would become harden if they've been in war for that long, but like Ghost last moments he finally become human again and as much I would have liked to see more of Ghost, sadly he died along with the prototype suit in that explosion. I'm glad you enjoyed the episode (It's absolutely my favorite) and I cannot wait to see the rest of your reactions😁👍

This might be the first mention of "The Cole Protocol" I think, the marines mention it several times here. The Cole Protocol tells UNSC personnel to destroy all valuable technology and any navigational data that could lead the Covenant to human worlds if it looks like the covenant might capture them or their ship or their base. At the end whoever's in charge mentions the survivors are going to rendezvous with the UNSC ship "Heart of Midlothian." Well "Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian" is a halo short story featured in the book Halo: Evolutions. They animated that short story and it's on youtube. Well they animated many of the short stories that were in the Halo: Evolutions book. So long story short the ending kind of sets up the animated short film Midnight in the Hearth of Midlothian.
