From what I've remembered he was destine for purgatory. I think. That said when it comes to Misa, I can't remember if it was confirmed or not. But I think a year later she well... you know. And on Valintines Day of all days because despite it all. She truly did love Light.

Pretty sure Misa killed herself cause she was solely devoted to Light and loved him even when she had her memory erased she still loved him. Honestly im jsut glad Light can’t use her anymore he manipulated the shit out of her and everyone . The plotting by Near is jsut astounding but he only had that advantage cause Light relaxed right after L died & he only really had to keep his cover up around the police he let his guard down too fast and crumbled at the end, love all the symbolism this anime has & it’s just smart, this & Steins gate are some of my fav smart animes that do the cat & mouse game well

Light Yagami

End of a journey - this was the first anime I watched and will always have a special place for me. Thank you for finishing the show! Was so great to experience it from another angle seeing your reactions

Light Yagami

And as far as new anime recommendations go, I would definitely say chainsaw man if you’re ever looking to get back into it

Pouring one out for my best boy Matsuda. End of one of the most powerful and iconic shows ever. The greatest proponent of dialogue over action, like 80% of it being inner monologues. There aren't very many quite like this concept, though if you're interested in something similar I would recommend Code Geass. It also reminds me a bit of The Sicilian, one of my top novels dealing with a single intelligent young man trying to violently change the core power structures of his country for the better and coming closer than anyone else to success. I like those kinds of revolutionary tales even if they almost always end badly.

Misa's and Mikami's fates are kind of interesting in how the anime adapted them. Misa was never actually confirmed dead in the manga, but rather her fate was revealed in the official Death Note data book. The manga writer confirms Misa died of her own volition, as the anime alludes to. Although it was a year later on Valentine's Day. Most likely as a symbol for her love for Light. Mikami also did take his own life, but the manga reveals he did so one month later while in prison. Even Light's death is somewhat different from the manga, but ultimately the same concept is at play. There is a really great video comparing the endings by Just Stop on YouTube that I would recommend checking out. Was a great journey! Also even if you don't read it, the manga art is gorgeous and would definitely recommend comparing it to the anime shots for fun if you have time!

Mage Reacts

Oh I definitely want to get the physical copy of the manga! The Valentine's Day fact killed me. 😭
