Meg, Meg, Meg... I love your take on ... well, everything, pretty much. Seriously, some of the comments you made about this episode were very much word for word things I've said in the past. Definitely puts you in the "shared brain" category for me, which truly doesn't happen that often. And is probably pretty scary for you, so sorry for that! 🤪 I especially loved your yelling at Arjun (#NotMyArjun was the hashtag going around for a while on the Interwebs). And like you said, it's not exactly that the actor is bad, he just doesn't have the warmth of Brian George. Some of that may be the writers' fault -- and it's rare that I say that because I kind of worship the writers of this show -- but it just doesn't seem like the same character. Not that Chrisjen and Arjun have to agree with each other all the time; couples disagree and even fight all the time, especially with personalities that big. But what I feel this actor played as anger, the "real" Arjun would have played as sadness and disappointment. And even then, even if he had read the lines that way, they still seem wrong to me, because this guy has been married to Chrisjen for decades, and he knows full well who she is and how she operates. It just doesn't square with what we know of the character. Then again, I think some of the point of the stuff happening to Chrisjen in this episode, and this season in general, is to show how out of her element she is. She's used to being the one behind the curtain, pulling the levers while someone else puts on the administration's public face and takes all the heat. Now she's actually running for office for the first time in her life, and she's seeing all the reminders of why she never wanted to do that. Her husband was just one example of that; the revisionist history coming from the general who resigned is another -- not everyone agrees, but I'm with you in calling him out on what I think was bullshit. I think he felt guilty about having to put his people in harm's way and so he's looking for someone to blame. Yes, they acted on imperfect intelligence, but sometimes that's the job. Avasarala made the only call she could. The General, I think, would have preferred the "blow them up from afar" option, which might have saved his Marines, but would have been guaranteed to kill all the belters, which would have been an indisputable act of war. Chrisjen chose the option that should have been the safer one for everyone. The only reason it wasn't was because Marco has no regard for his own people and was willing to sacrifice a ship full of them. *He's* the one trying boost his poll numbers. And Murty is a monster, exactly as analyzed by Amos. And Amos has met more than a few monsters in his time, so you can take his judgment on that to the bank. Don't worry about the "Murtry did nothing wrong" crowd. Murtry did plenty wrong. Plenty. And yes, Amos' scenes in this episode are powerful and heartbreaking, and Wes is fantastic in them. Especially when you see stuff with Wes outside of the show and realize how Un-Amos-y Wes is IRL. Where he finds that darkness within himself I haven't a clue. Glad to see you back with The Expanse. These are always real treats!

Great to see you back with another Expanse episode! You should definitely watch 9 and 10 back to back (not because I want both as soon as possible) but they are 100% a double episode. Episode 10 starts right off from where Episode 9 ends. I've watched this show many times now and originally I was of the same opinion about Avasarala and her motives. I was so moved by her speech that I was fooled into thinking she was being 100% genuine. Instead I've come to actually realise that whilst yes, Avasarala definitely does care about the people of Earth, and what she said at the memorial was (at the very least) being channeled by her feelings towards her own son and his death, she outright admitted to Arjun that it was all an act with "they saw me as the caring matriarch you told me to be. You wanted me to play this game, so I did. You don't get to be upset because I didn't play by your rules". She also admits that releasing the images now puts the main story of Ilus back in the headline, making Nancy Gao's position harder to defend and making people forget Avasarala's missteps. He follows it up with "all your words today were lies" and then when he's storming out we hear "what I said about Charanapal, that wasn't a lie" which means "yes, everything else I said was (or partially was) a lie, but not that". In my eyes, she is motivated to stay being the Secretary General for both the reasons of keeping another Eros from happening, but it is also unmistakably about her pride and needing to win, which is why Arjun is so upset. Definitely agree about the actor though, it's just a different vibe for sure. My favourite thing about this episode is Holden and Amos and their relationship. We've gone from them threatening to shoot each other in S1, to fighting the hybrid on the ship in S2 and making a deal to space Holden if they have to in order to kill the hybrid, then trusting him about Miller in S3 when they had to make a break for the ring after the fake message, to now "I. Can't. Lose you." So gooood. Oh also I'm not sure if you've been told this before but Wes actually went and spoke to a psychologist/psychiatrist (I forget which one) about how the certain type of childhood trauma that Amos experienced could manifest itself in an adult. He really, really went into this role as a true professional and brought Amos to life in ways that I think even surpass the books at times. Hope you enjoyed that wall of text, keeping my eyes peeled for 9 and 10! :)

YAY!!! More Expanse! :) - Not sure if I'm just imagining, but the camera quality looks better.
