O.M.G. They went there. Just went I think I can't love a new DC villain, they give me another one to sympathize with. Kudos to them for addressing the dark parts of the industry and doing justice to the story of every woman "aging out" of the business. We feel for you, Calendar Queen 💓

I was waiting for this episode cause I knew this another good one and I’m glad you recorded your reaction to it. Another original character created for the show as she’s an amalgam of two characters. Calendar Man and a lesser known obscure villain named Manikin. Honestly this episode reminds me of some of the old BTAS episodes where they created an original character and tackled a serious issue, in this case show business. I almost forgot about that part with the agent being creepy with that young girl but I'm glad Batman treated him the way I knew he would. Also interesting fact about the actress who voiced Calendar Girl, Sela Ward. At the time this episode was made, she was in the middle of a campaign against Hollywood's emphasis on youth and its harmful effects on public perception. I believe the next episode is on the list to record so I can’t wait for the next one!! But thanks for your reaction to this episode Meg!!

I tell ya that Calendar Girl was very disconcerted over thinking she wasn't so pretty anymore in her face but she still was.

Interesting, there was another online reviewer I follow who compared Calendar Girl in her Spring outfit to Shego too. Batman x Kim Possible crossover now. Between this, Feat of Clay and Baby Doll it feels like the writers are biting the hand that feeds. More like they're very much aware of the flaws in their industry and want to point them out. Calendar Man would be very difficult to get into this show since he's a deranged serial killer a la Victor Zasz without much theatricality or fun about him, so this is a good revision. Psychosomatic addiction to plastic surgery also contributed to the creation of Professor Pyg later on. Got another great (and dark) episode coming up!

Know this is an older post, but I just recently became a patron and I'm going through the older watchalongs that haven't been edited for YT yet, and I just wanted to talk about Bruce changing the retirement policy and I think I understand why it's presented as a good thing. I do know of older people who are forced into retirement by their employers and are unable to make an income so they have to get a minimum wage job. My granddad is actually friends with a guy who that happened to and he now works at Taco Bell to pay his bills. I guess retirement is something we look on as a good, but we don't consider the bad it could bring.
