The writers snuck in a Simpsons reference at 23:45 youtube timestamp. While Amos is sitting on that step a street vender in the background shouts "Khlav Kalash! Get your Khlav Kalash!" Followed a couple seconds later by "No bowl. Stick! Stick!" The subtitles say "Crab Goulash" but Amazon subtitles are often wrong. It's not Crab Goulash, it's Khlav Kalash. Khlav Kalash is a fictional food that Homer Simpson bought in New York City. When Homer asked for a bowl the street vender says, "No bowl, Stick!, Stick!" The two Expanse authors and the head showrunner Naren Shankar are huge Simpsons fans. I have to say that when I first watched this episode it blew my mind that one of my favorite shows was referencing one of my other favorite shows.

To answer your question: The woman with the boy Amos/Timothy saw standing in the archway both when he first arrives and when he was sitting at the table are both young Timothy with Lydia, also the same actors in the flashback to sitting at the dock at the end of the episode.

You will get the details about what the crimes were, who the OG Amos and Erich are, and how Lydia is in the novella "The Churn". It is a great, heartbreaking read, and it doesn't spoil anything in the show going forward. It fleshes out our Amos' character more. Recommend.

There is a behind the scene clip of the Baltimore opening shot and how they got it from high above to ground level. IIRC it was partially a helicopter then flipped to a crane and then to a ground camera operator. At least the crane and transition to camera operator is here in the clip: https://x.com/Breck_Eisner/status/1187908727304867840 Not fully sure anymore about the helicopter to crane... pretty sure it was mentioned in Ty & That Guy podcast, though the clip has no helicopter.

Jacob Mundell plays Erich and he was thrilled to be on The Expanse. He is a disabled actor and I was impressed they went to the lengths of hiring someone to play Erich who also only has one hand in the books. Amos scenes with Charles are super special. Wes does such a good job, initially being aggressive and then realizing that Charles truly loved Lydia. Really looking forward to the rest of this season!
