Now that I looked him up, I've definitely seen Cyborg in Flashpoint Paradox, along with maybe a couple other things?? But lmk if his armor is specific to Darkseid and Apokalyps technology!

Also, Caleb and I are watching Clone Wars tomorrow 💜

Justice League: War

Matthew Cronin

Hey Meg, here’s some Cyborg backstory! Originally he appeared as one of the Teen Titans and was in an accident and was repaired by his father. This movie pretty much adapts the New 52 continuity version where it was a Mother Box and he joined the Justice League.

So just to clear up the timeline: When Flash went back and reversed the Flashpoint, he created a whole new timeline. We are now seeing how the Justice league formed on this new timeline. We will eventually catch up to after the flashpoint happened.

I remember really liking this film on first viewing. I believe Son of Batman is next, but I could be wrong lol 😂

this movie is an adaptation of the 2012's "justice league origin" story which introduced the league's new origin story following the new 52 comic reboot. Prior to this reboot Cyborg was a member of the teen titans and the technology of his robotic body were created by his father's genius. When the new 52 reboot hit they changed this to the origin you see in the movie, his cyborg parts being from merging with a Mother box from darkseid's invasion. And instead of being a teen titan he was a founding member of the justice league, replacing Martian Manhunter in the line up. It was a controversial change at the time but has become his standard origin ever since. Recent comics however have retconned him into being teen titan again but his timeline in terms of the league is unclear beyond he was a member at some point, but seemingly no longer a founding member. This movie makes a change to the original comic its based on by having Shazam replaces Aquaman on the team's line up. Likewise as a result of this change its Wonder Woman who stabs darksied in the eye which is something aquaman did the comic version. To clarify at the end of flashpoint paradox the timeline flash returned to is not the same one he was in at the start of the movie. This is hinted at by him wearing a slightly different costume at the end of the movie, one which has yellow lines going down it. This movie and most of the movies you'll watch for this universe are set in this new timeline but before the Barry wakes up at the end of flashpoint and gives bruce his dad's letter. Essentially think of these movies as a big long flashback to catch us up on the events of this new timeline. Flashpoint creating a new timeline by the end of the story also happens in the comic version as it was the story that rebooted dc's continuity into the new 52 line.

This is great! I’m so glad you’re watching both these and the older justice league animated series. I just know that you’ll love them both! Also yay!! More clone wars!!!

So happy you got to this movie! To clarify some things: After Flashpoint when Barry went back to reset the timeline, he didn't exactly put it back together like it was previously. This is a completely new timeline with all the heroes just now meeting each other and forming the Justice League. This anthology of movies is based on the New 52 initiative that DC launched in 2011 for their comics as a way to make things easier for new readers that were just starting to get into DC. Instead of having to go through DC's past catalog of comics in order to understand each character, they basically rewrote the origins for the majority of their characters. So characters like Superman and Wonder Woman got new origins and new histories. Though with Batman, his origin and history stayed the same, except they basically condensed it down, including the amount of years he spent with each Robin. Obviously Kevin Conroy will always be the best for me, but Jason O'Mara is one of the few voice actors that I think does an amazing job as Batman. I'm agree with you on being tired of Wonder Woman always having to be a love interest for someone. It's one of many things I hate that DC does to her, besides not featuring her more prominently outside the comics. Hal calling Bruce paranoid is kind of true actually. One of the things I'm sure you've noticed with Bruce is how he's not really trusting of people, even if it's his allies or friends like Superman and Wonder Woman. He can even come off as being cold and rude sometimes. It's not really because he's being an asshole, it's because Bruce is always skeptical of things and sometimes paranoid. Granted he has seen the worst in humanity and has worked with people that he once thought he could call his allies and friends, turn evil and/or corrupt. Because of that, he always questions things before he ever puts his full trust in someone and even then, he doesn't completely trust people. Plus related to the speech that he told Hal, when you really look at them, Bruce is the only member of the Justice League that has zero powers and only relies on his fighting skills, abilities, and gadgets. Like he is on a team with people with godlike powers or are just literal gods. And you wondering about Bruce being a Green Lantern, he was one in an Elseworld story. But the reason why he has never been chosen as a Green Lantern in main continuity is because in order to be a Green Lantern, you have to have a lot of willpower but more importantly, you have to let go of all your fears. With Bruce, while he is known to have a ton of willpower, he still holds onto the fear that he had the night his parents were killed in Crime Alley, which is why he has never been chosen to be a Green Lantern Victor Stone is Cyborg and in most iterations, he is usually a core member of the Teen Titans. In the comics, he was experimented on by his scientist parents Silas and Elinore Stone to give him great enhancements like a higher IQ, which was successful but he grew to resent his treatments. Victor becoming Cyborg in the comics is similar in the movie as he does get injured in an accident from an experiment that his parents were conducting. Although the accident and cybernetic advancements he gets are not connected to Darkseid or Apokolips tech. Instead they were experimental prostheses that his father designed made out of an alloy called Promethium. Also one of the changes they made in this movie (as well as in the New 52) was they made Cyborg a founding member of the Justice League, replacing Martian Manhunter. I will also say when it comes to Cyborg in the Justice League, while I don't mind his relationship with members of the League, I personally prefer his relationship with the Teen Titans. Maybe you could react to the Teen Titans animated show at some point after you finish Justice League and Batman Beyond. It isn't connected to those shows but it's really fun and I think you'd love it If you want to learn more about Shazam but you don't want to watch the Zachary Levi Shazam movie, I recommend watching Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam animated movie since it covers his origin. But yes Shazam or Billy Batson is usually depicted as a young kid/pre-teen who when he shouts the name Shazam is aged up to a full grown man granting him powers from several Greek gods. In fact, the name Shazam is actually an acronym and each letter represents the name of the god that he is borrowing their powers for But this was such a fun reaction (as are the majority of your DC reactions)! The next movie on the list is Son of Batman and I can't wait to hear what you think of that movie. Also I know you have other reactions and your gaming content to do but I love that you've been giving us so much more DC reactions lately. Oh and to answer your question I think Darkseid is scarier than Thanos. Both have done some pretty messed up things but I think Darkseid is just more evil

Speaking of Cyborg, I'd highly recommend checking out Teen Titans at some point.

Cyborg isn't in some of the older stuff, but in a lot of newer Justice League stories he is one of the main members. He became pretty popular around the early 2000s thanks in huge part to the Teen Titans show.

Good reaction! You properly met Cyborg & Shazam as well as seeing the new timeline that was created post Flashpoint. This movie and the rest of the anthology series of movies is based on the New 52 comics. Basically when DC made the Flashpoint comic, they did it as an excuse to basically reset their universe to be a new starting point for new readers. So when Barry undid Flashpoint, he created a new timeline with new histories of the DC characters. Thus was made the New 52 timeline. There we have a more cocky Hal Jordan, a Superman who likes Diana instead of Lois which many fans don’t like, & having Cyborg’s origins tied to Apokalypse whereas pre flashpoint, his OG backstory was that he was in a accident and his dad saved him by fusing him with mechanical parts. Like what others said, Cyborg was originally a Teen Titans member but the 52 comics change him as a JL founding member. The 2003 Teen Titans show was many people’s introduction to him & others in the show that became fan favorites that I think you’ll love. ^^ The New 52 timeline (comics) didn’t last and DC did another reset to have it be close to the OG comic timeline with some changes of course. Lol

LOL I love the glow stick tangent! And that you appreciate the Hal and Bruce moments. If you're wondering where you've heard of the actor Chris Noth before, he's a prolific TV actor, having played leads in Law & Order, Sex and the City, and The Good Wife.

Logaboga

This one is particularly humorous even though it’s all out war

"Parademonization" is the process of reconstructing the people of the worlds conquered by Darkseid into footsoldiers. There's a reason even Superman and Batman kill them, they're basically nonsentient organic robots.

Superheroes Rock

I love hal but he’s portrayed a little bit differently here he’s normally not this dumb and is much much smarter in any other version but i guess they wanted to make him the butt of the joke lol also yea victor’s name being cyborg makes sense since that is literally what a cyborg means which is half man half robot. Wonder woman is interesting because some iterations of her use a sword while others dont at all but she’s badass either way and almost on par with superman. This universe of films u started is called the dcamu ( dc animated movie universe) which is actually different from the dcau (dc animated universe) which of course started with batman the animated series. i personally prefer the dcau over the dcamu tho but both are fantastic dc worlds
